Supernatural - Favorite Song - 4A - Polls

21 Dec 2012

It's the final four and Carry on Wayward Son, Eye of the Tiger, Renegade, and Back in Black remain. No real surprises. We also continue our song-to-scene wildcard polls but there are a whole lot of surprises there. One of the biggest is how many decent song-to-scene choices there are in today's poll. Best set yet. Happy voting!

1. Carry On Wayward Son
2. Renegade
3. Back in Black
4. Eye of the Tiger

  1. Sorry for getting these up so late this week. It's been a crazy one. Voting today's a bit tougher for me because unlike the previous set, I think there are a few that make good song-to-scene choices this time. In fact, this is probably the best set of them all. The first two are definites for me. In fact, I think they are better choices than several that are already in the contest. The other four are a toss up and I'm going to have to think on it more before I vote.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - I adore this song-to-scene. While in a traditional sense the Winchester Christmas was sadder than a Charlie Brown tree, the fact that the brothers would do anything for each other came out loud and clear and that made it a merry little Christmas.

Man in the Wilderness - The lyrics are absolutely perfect.

Another year has passed me by / Still I look at myself and cry / What kind of man have I become? / All of the eyars I've spent in search of myself / And I'm still in the dark / 'Cause I can't seem to find the light alone / Sometimes I feel like a man in the wilderness / I'm a lonely soldier off to war / Sent away to dies - never quite knowing why / Sometimes it makes no sense at all

Hellhound on My Trail - Since this song plays when Robert Johnson literally has hellhounds on his trail, I can't deny that it makes a strong song-to-scene choice.

Highway to Hell - This is probably the weakest song-to-scene of the four but there is no denying that once the brothers head the car towards Stanford they are on the highway to Sam's personal hell. It makes a pretty good metaphor for all of season one and the basic premise of the show itself.

I Put a Spell on You - She did put a spell on him. She did it to say that he was hers and she would kill him before letting him be with another woman. Yeah, I'd say that's a lyric and scene match.

It's My Party - This is a SPN musical twist. The lonely ghost who kills to get people to be at his birthday party set - ha in the most uncomfortable way.

    Honorable Mentions:

Knight Rider theme - Bwah! It was a classic Trickster move.

Lady in Red - I watched Days of Our Lives in high school. I admit it. So I know that the song became popular when starcrossed lovers Steve and Kayla danced to it. I associated that song with that couple for years. Now thanks to Supernatural the association is much funnier.

Love Hurts - …..when your mannequin fantasy lover strangles you. It's also creepy as hell and deranged.

  2. Carry on, really no other choice, even though I have loved Eye way before SPN.

I have been on my marathon again and finished season 5 last night and watching, through tears and sobs, Swan Song and Dean's beating and his it's ok, I'm here, not going to leave you and Sam taking over from Lucifer. I am just NOT buying that Sam has not looked for Dean this year.

    OK new picks.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, perfect for the scene.

Highway to Hell, tells us what SPN is about.

Man in the Wilderness, again perfection

Knight Rider Theme...good fun theme that worked

    Long, Long Way from Home

  3. Not nice to confuse me before I have my coffee, you have poll 4A. ;)

  4. Now you are confusing me. It's the first poll in round 4, hence 4A. The last poll was 3B because it was the second poll in round 3. There's nothing different about how this poll is named than any of them. It's the way I differentiate the polls on Blogger so I know exactly which article to pull up. It was a saving grace when we were doing the ultimate episode contest when we went all the way up to 1P in the first round.

  5. Carry On Wayward Son of course.

    Okay now the nominations

    1. Man Of The Wilderness - Listen to the words and remember Purgatory is like a forest and it's perfect for the scene. Even says "Another year has passed me by" "What kind of man have I become?" And it had been a year Dean had been in Purgatory and he'd changed from it.

    2. Knight Rider Theme - Of course worked in that Changing Channels scene

    3. I Put A Spell On You

    4. Hellhound On My Trail

    5. Have Yourself A Merry Christmas

  6. I love Eye of the Tiger but it came up against Carry On Wayward Son and that is the ultimate in songs for Supernatural.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (A Very Supernatural Christmas) - The boys celebrate Christmas knowing Dean is going to die. It was so poignant.

Man in the Wilderness Dean has spent an entire year killing in Purgatory. He is back and has no idea where his brother is. He takes Benny to Louisiana and frees him. Dean was in a wilderness.

Knight Rider Theme was perfect. The lights on the Impala were running like KITT. It was hysterical and fit the scene.

Lady in Red was a song that ruined for me on Supernatural because all I see is the jock dancing with the alien and I start laughing. The song was perfect for the scene. The Trickster was playing deadly practical jokes on some and just plain degraded others. This was fabuous.

Hellhound on my Trail definitely fit the scene.

  8. The down side of the holidays. I didn't see three of these until after they'd closed. Did I once see a way to get email notification when a board is updated?

  9. Hey guys, sorry there was no poll up today. I got busy and flaked. I will put the poll up tomorrow evening so it isn't cut short. Thanks for your patience.

  10. Generally the polls i run are every day if we are in a contest. I flaked today so no new one until tomorrow. The best way for me to get updates from SpoilerTV is to follow the STV twitter feed for Supernatural since I am on it every day. Basically anytime someone posts anything with the Supernatural tag, I get a tweet about it. However I get the daily In Case You Missed It e-mails too.
