Welcome to round 2 of the favorite song poll. Just a reminder this is just what it says it is - favorite song. It has nothing to do with how that song was used in Supernatural. The song-to-scene poll will come up next and that's when it counts how it was used. Speaking of song-to-scene, I have decided to expand the contest from 16 entries to 32. That means we need help figuring out what those other songs will be. Songs currently in the contest include: Renegade, Wanted Dead or Alive, O Death, Back in Black, Don't Fear the Reaper, A Well-Respected Man, Rock of Ages, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Bad Moon Rising, Beautiful Loser, Eye of the Tiger, Heat of the Moment, Smoke on the Water, Simple Man, What a Wonderful World, and Silent Lucidity.
My plan is to put all other nominated songs plus any new songs into polls and determine the rest of the contestants that way. I'm including the nomination form below so feel free to add songs you think should be in. Just make sure you put what episode you are nominating the song for since some songs have been used more than once. If it doesn't have an episode, it won't be counted. Remember also the idea of song-to-scene is how well the song matches what was going on in the scene, both mood and lyrics, which knocks out Carry on Wayward Son since it has only been played in the previouslies. In my opinion it should knock out Eye of the Tiger too since the reason people like it is because of the outtake which is not a part of the plot. For it to be a good song-to-scene nomination, the song should not be easily replaceable with other songs. Nominations will close on Tuesday.
Now that future business is taken care of, let's look at the songs remaining in round 2. Things were far closer in the last set. The winning songs were Back in Black (90% - this one was obviously not close), All Out of Love (52% - winning by a mere 6 votes), Bad Company (56%), and O Death (68%). They join Carry On Wayward Son, Highway to Hell, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Rock of Ages, Eye of the Tiger, Bad Moon Rising, Hell's Bells, Wanted Dead or Alive, Renegade, You Shook Me All Night Long, Heat of the Moment, and Don't Fear the Reaper in round 2. Things should start getting a little harder to vote now unless like me you only like about half the songs. Then it's easier.

I'm a decently big AC/DC fan, and Highway to Hell and Hell's Bells are two of my favorites from them, so they win this round for me. And Bad Moon Rising is my favorite CCR song, so I had to give it the vote. The only one that gave me pause was Heaven's Door/Rock of Ages, but Def Leppard kind of wears on me after so long, so I gave it to Dylan.
ReplyDeleteHey guys just a reminder that when you nominate for the song-to-scene contest, it should be a song that really matches the scene not just a scene you like in which the song happens to be playing. For instance while we all associate Heat of the Moment with Mystery Spot, any cheesy 80's song could have been playing and still have the same effect. The song itself is not special to the scene.

1.Highway to Hell - Carry on Wayward Son will not need my vote and I love Highway to Hell. It's one of my favorite road trip songs to drive to.
2. Rock of Ages - Mostly because I have never liked Knockin' on Heaven's Door. It drags too much for me. Not a big fan of Dylan either. I was a huge Def Leppard fan in high school. This isn't my favorite Def Leppard song but it gets my heart racing and my body moving. I dare you to listen to this song without some body part tapping or nodding.
3. None of the above. I lean toward Bad Moon Rising but since that song still freaks me out, I just can't vote for it. :-P I will likely vote for it in the song-to-scene contest though, depending on what it's up against.
4. Wanted Dead or Alive -The best thing about Hell's Bells is the introduction. That's enough to get it to beat many songs on the list for me. Wanted Dead or Alive is not one of them. I'm a Bon Jovi fan from Runaway and I don't see that ever changing.
I didn't manage to vote in yesterday's poll and I'm sorry to see that Can't Fight This Feeling got eliminated. I love that song. :(

I still vote for Carry on Wayward Son as I like the song regardless.
Then Knockin' On Heaven's Door, although I like the cover versions better than Dylan's. Not a great estimator of Rock of Ages.
I vote for Bad Moon Rising. I prefer it over Eye of the Tiger.
Not a fan of Hell's Bells. I like Dead or Alive much more. Bon Jovi gets it

ReplyDelete1. Carry On Wayward Son - Okay this was slightly tough, as I like AC/DC but Highway to Hell is not my favorite song of theres and I love Carry On so it was still pretty easy to choose.
2. Knockin On Heaven's Door - I'm not that into Rock Of Ages like others are.
3. Eye Of The Tiger - Bad Moon Rising is just creepy, even before SPN.
4. Wanted Dead Or Alive- Again, love Bon Jovi. #1 singer I'd love to see in concert at this time. And I'm not that into Hell's Bells.
..Until know i recognize most of the songs and the people got the same opinion and the song is taking the lead IN SOME CASES

Bad Moon Rising, this was the only hard one as I also LOVE Eye of the Tiger, but Bad Moon is just so Supernatural, in fact for me it is right up there with Carry ON.

ReplyDeleteI love Rock of Ages in that scene, but this is favorite song poll and it just can not compare to Heaven's Door for me.
