Brilliant!!! I didn't think the writers would be able to write Brody into next season and just kill him off in the finale......... damn was I wrong. There needs to be a MIND BLOWN option in the polls instead of awesome.
- Carrie being able to stroll in on Saul seemed far fetched to me. I would think the heavy security would have apprehended her or stopped her and alerted Saul since he is the ranking agent on site.
- Also seemed a bit too easy for the bomb to be placed in Brody's vehicle and left directly outside the window of the funeral honestly. Any time so many government officials are in one palce security is so high that a car left unattended in an odd location (nevermind an obviously suspicious location) would be noticed and checked out either by the normal police perimeter or the Secret Service.
- OK so Dar Adal (played by F Murray Abraham) is not a CIA wet work operator, but he is in fact a terrorist? I did not see that coming.... Often times black ops guys have checkered pasts and live in the "grey", but I would think he would have been vetted more vigorously. It feels very strange to me.
I have two related thoughts... although I do not feel strongly about either.
Conspiracy Theory #1:
if Dar Adal was sanctioned by someone in the US government to release the Brody confession video and to execute the bombing at the funeral.
Conspiracy Theory #2:
Maybe Dar Adal is taking credit for the bombing (despite having nothing to do with it) to create a patsy so the US has an obvious target in the aftermath and will not look into the some of the Estes/ Walden/ Brody connections.
Pretty good episode. Carrie/Brody focus at the beginning kind of dragged on for me, but I get why they showed it to us. Quinn was a bad ass with his threat to Estes, and I'm kind of glad Estes bit it cause he was a royal dick. I want to know who the mole is though!
One thing this show does better than most, if not all others, is redefining itself each season and taking us somewhere we didn't expect to go.
Hmmm... It may not be him, but it certainly did look like F Murray Abraham to me. HE had less of a beard when we saw him the two times previously, but beards do grow....
Maybe it was not him, if so obviously the comments related to him on video do not apply anymore....
There is a lot of similarity like the nose, cheeks, voice and beardline, but the face does seem shorter and the ears seem different. I chalked it up to him leaning forward and looking down over his nose, but it could be someone else maybe.
wow, wow wow! Besides all the plot holes mentioned it was still a great ep. Had no idea that they would go there.. And Dar Adal as the terrorist?!? I didn't recognise him at all! He must have been on screen for al of 1 minute this whole season. Hopefully they can do something about the realism next season..
I loved Quinn in this episode. Does anyone know if he is signed on to do season 3? I really hope so!! He was a great addition to the rest of the brilliant cast.
I´m guessing that Brody and his family will play a smaller part in season 3, or at least in the first 3 - 4 episodes.
It sounds like all of you are 100 % sure that Brody didn´t do this. I really don´t think he did either (just because it would be less interesting), but his talk with Mike still makes him a suspect.
I think it was a great set up for season 3 and I really don´t think Homeland is becoming just another espionage series. It is different and the actors are just brilliant.
He brought Tom Walker into the game, to draw off attantion of Brody. When Carrie became dangerous he made Estez fire her by putting all the classified stuff back on the wall, before someone could have collect them and put them away. And when Carrie told him what she thinks Brodys mission was, he called the security to take her into custody. When he was in custody, Abu Nazir was found. And I'm pretty sure, that he also has something to do with the final bombing, that puts him into the postion to promote Carrie into the postition she "deserves".
"I'm not sure where Season 3 goes exactly after this....." I think it would make sense for Brody to be a no-show next season but his family will still be involved. I still can't believe Brody basically admitted to Dana that Carrie was right about everything. Honesty is a good policy but that's some pretty heavy stuff to lay on a teenager. Dana may be hounding Carrie for answers about her dad most of next season.
As for Carrie's mission to clear Brody, it will probably take the form of an unsanctioned side project while she and Saul trace the source of the bomb and track down this new terrorist guy.
The only part that bugs me about Saul being the mole, is that he revealed Brody's videotaped confession to Carrie and the CIA, when he could have easily pretended to not find the flash drive. Maybe exposing Brody was part of the longterm plan, but couldn't he have achieved that in an easier way, other than relying on Carrie to retrieve it (and almost get killed in process).
I think, that Nazirs plans for Brody changed, when he didn't pull the trigger. And this tabe was just the beginning of using him as an 'double agent'. The only part that bugs me in this case, is the fact, that Saul didn't do anything to save Nazir in Beirut.
NO! in fact, completely the opposite - the writers etc have pretty much said explicitly that Saul can't be the mole - that that makes no sense whatsoever in light of the facts as they have played out, and in light of his place as the emotional-integrity centre of the show - given how explicit they have been about this, I don't understand at all how people are still thinking that it's Saul. There is a funny line in one of those interviews where one of the producers acknowledges that, given the internal story that Mandy Patinkin has constructed for Saul (where he believes that Carrie can save the world etc), that if he ever opened a script to discover that Saul was not a pure white knight, he (Mandy) would flip a switch and there would be hell to pay. They then go on to say that they don't want to ruin anyone's fun so if you want to keep pretending he's the mole go for it, but there is no way in reality that it's him.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Well i have one word to say #speechless
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!!! I didn't think the writers would be able to write Brody into next season and just kill him off in the finale......... damn was I wrong. There needs to be a MIND BLOWN option in the polls instead of awesome.
ReplyDeleteA few huge WTF moments once again though.....

Yeah the whole first part was extremely slow and could have been cut in half. A few stretches but a solid episode overall.
ReplyDeleteI think Quinn could have unwittingly been the mole by reporting back to Dar Adal.
ReplyDeleteOr would that make Dar Adal the mole? XD
That would make Dar Adal the mole, but Quinn by association or, as you said, unwittingly. Nice thought there.
ReplyDeletewhat?! Dar Adal didn't take the credit for the bombing?! what were you watching? Do all bearded men look alike?
ReplyDeleteDar Adal was not really in this episode at all, what are you going on about that he's the terrorist?
ReplyDeleteHmmm... It may not be him, but it certainly did look like F Murray Abraham to me. HE had less of a beard when we saw him the two times previously, but beards do grow....

Wasn't it pretty much confirmed that Saul is the mole?

Wow. Now THAT was a finale. Don't know what else to say really...
ReplyDeleteYeah I missed that too if that's the case.
ReplyDeleteSome people have gleaned that, but I never got that impression in any concrete way. I'm not ruling it out though!
ReplyDeleteI think so too
ReplyDeleteI don't think that was Dar Adal.
ReplyDeleteHe brought Tom Walker into the game, to draw off attantion of Brody.

Holy crap, i did not see that coming! I didn't love all of it but damn it had some awesome scenes!
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying it isn't a possibility, but I doubt the writers even decided if there is a mole and who the mole should be.
ReplyDeleteThe only part that bugs me about Saul being the mole, is that he revealed Brody's videotaped confession to Carrie and the CIA, when he could have easily pretended to not find the flash drive. What I wrote before and more. For example his confersation with Estez at his place about how to handle the new Brody situation.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you have been the best part of Lost.
Ah sorry, I missed that comment :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind comments about Lost :)
Felt about the same. some scenes needed much suspension of disbelief but others like Quinn confronting Estes I was grinning over and over.
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome:-)

ReplyDeleteTV is not reality. At least not for me. So I adhere to my opinion and hope, that you will get used to it.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you don't even disprove my argumentation.
