"Princess" said it best at the end. It's hard to believe that those few that we saw as interns in the very beginning are the seasoned, cool-headed surgeons we see now. They've come so far!
I loved it! So nice to see how far our doctors have come! But also a great intern-focussed ep that had enough of our regulars to keep us happy.
And all the interns are likeable! Brooks is perhaps a little annoying, and I'm not sure the other cardiac intern fighting grumpy is a regular intern, but the other 3 are really good!
Good episode. - Most of the interns are working out well. Eventually, the show is gonna have to cut a few. I'd put Cristina's interns (Stephanie & Leah) firmly in the bottom two. Cut 'em. - I'm surprised it took Heather so long to snap and lash out at Meredith and Derek. Better late than never, I say. Good for her. - The Jo / Alex stuff was good until Jo went WAY over the top with that baby's grandmother. I don't know who the director was for this episode but they needed to tell Camilla Luddington to dial it down in that scene. - I didn't care much for April's intern (Shane) until this episode. His scenes with April worked well even though things felt a little forced toward the end.
Anyway, since this was an intern episode I'll rank the interns in terms of positive contribution to the show from five (worst) down to one (best). 5. Leah - She's a wet blanket with no personality. 4. Stephanie - Occasionally shows signs of life but doesn't get any good lines to work with. 3. Shane - The character is poorly written. His personality is all over the place. Fortunately, Gaius Charles has done a bang-up job with what he was given and makes this character click. 2. Jo - She seems to share most of the intern screen time with Heather and rightfully so. Jo and Heather are the two most fully realized characters among the interns. Her character has worked well with both Meredith and Alex so far, in spite of the writers pushing the Alex/Jo thing a little too hard on occasion. I am shocked they went so far as to give the character a solo scene in this week's episode though. 1. Heather - Full disclosure: I'm a little biased when it comes to Tina Majorino. I've always liked her and I'm glad she's part of the show. Trying to set aside my bias for a minute, I can objectively say that Heather is the most likeable of all the interns and Majorino has given the most consistent performances week-to-week. Heather blends in better than the rest of the interns without fading into the background and the character has worked well with many of the regulars so far.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI thought this was quite weak, to be honest. Not sure if it was the best time to give so much focus to the interns...
ReplyDeleteAlso, what was with the overused slow-motion?
I agree. I was annoyed with the slow-motion at the end!
ReplyDeleteI like new interns very much princess and with cell phone are best
ReplyDeleteI thought it was ok, but there was too much time focused on the interns!
ReplyDelete..Very,.classic,.awesome,delightful,.comic medic center intern adventures episode
ReplyDeleteI voted ok,one of their weakest episodes so far.I'm glad 'Princess' set Alex straight, but still not that thrilled with any of the newbies.
ReplyDeleteWell, this was an intern-centric episode
