    THIS WAS AMAZING ALL AROUND. It was a play! AND HE REALLY DID BURN THE PLAYBOOK AND THEY'RE ENGAGED AND OH MY GOD AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY FEELINGS ARE DOING.

    Firstly, I will admit that if there was any way for Barney to propose, that was the perfect way to do it as a final 'play'.


    Secondly...Ted is the best. Ridiculously selfless. And Barney sucks in comparison. Barney and Robin is a stupid idea, as I've said numerous times, and nothing that happens in the show will alter that.


    And lastly, freakin' YAY to Marshall. Damn straight! Team freakin' Tedward!!!!

    I never said I didn't like the show. I love every aspect of the show except for that relationship. However, I know for a lot of people that Barney and Robin's relationship is the only thing they care about, but I, you know, actually pay attention to/care about the other characters.

    Aside from the Splitsville confession (which I'm still shocked was part of the play) and the rejection kiss, we guessed that it was a play almost immediately based on the "Barney is dating Patrice" spoilers. It seemed off. We then figured she was most likely in on it.

    Then the press release came out that said Barney was going to propose to Patrice, which we figured was part of the play and he was really proposing to Robin.

    The whole thing seemed off in the episode where Barney started "dating" Patrice.

    Then the promo photos came out, and we immediately guessed what was going to happen. It was relatively easy to figure out from there, especially when people zoomed in and saw "The Robin" on the piece of paper.


    So yeah, we pretty much guessed about 95% of it weeks ago.

    And it really is true, none of that would've been possible without Ted. The building he designed, Marshall and Lily being together, after all, he did gave her his ultimate stamp, and of course, Barney and Robin would've never have met if it wasn't for Ted. So yeah Ted, you're responsible for so many achievements and you more than anyone deserves to find The One and have the family of your dreams, w/t the puppet thing, ok yeah, you can do the puppet thing.

    does anybody think its possible.. that you know marshall said about the ted and robin bet not yet, that thats still going to come up. i have a feeling barney and robin do get together, as does ted and his wife. but the whole time its him telling his kids hes getting divorced but he loved there mother so much, but he always wanted robin? i dunno they just have way to many references and he basically had kick robin out of the car, she choose to be at his night?

    Why would he tell them the story of how he met the love of the love of his life, and oh by the way, we're divorcing? That makes no sense at all.

    Ted/Robin is 100% over as a couple. The bet will probably come up at Barney/Robin's wedding, and then it will be over and done with. Of course we still have the Victoria issue, but that'll most likely be resolved soon, too.

    Well if you wanna care about other characters , then go ahead... but remember this marshal chose ted against barney...
    No matter how much ted loves robin, robin and barney are meant to be, even ted has understood that, so stop watching the show if you are not rooting for barney and robin<3!!!

    I love how much Barney has evolved as a character yet is still true to who he is. That is just great writing.


    I get the feeling they are dilly dallying too much with Ted I am sick of his little revelations he needs to meet the mother bugger the title of the show I want to see their relationship it better not just be montaged in the final ep.

    Who says that people who enjoy Barney/Robin don't also pay attention to/care about the other characters? I understand some people only care about that relationship, but there are those of us who enjoy everyone on the show and B/R.

    Awesome episode tonight. Fairly predictable from a few weeks out, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable!

    Ted having his self-actualizing moments was nice, finally seeing him grow up a bit. And I liked the bit in Barney's final 'play' that if Ted told Robin to go get Barney that it meant that "[Barney's] best bro in the world let her go and gave them his blessing."

    Marshall probably had the biggest laugh from me tonight with the "Tell that to the onion rings that we 'shared'!" And Ranjit's texts were great. And Barney's jinx was legend--wait for it! Writes it down on a piece of paper: "dary!"



    Very solid episodes, even aside from the Barney/Robin stuff.

    Glad to see I wasn't the only one flailing at that ending! If I can't stop smiling 3 hours after Barney and Robin get engaged, I can only imagine what my reaction is gonna be when Castle and Beckett get engaged.

    I think we all can agree that this was an awesome episode, best one this season. :)
    The first half was funny, classic HIMYM style, and it was great that they referenced older eps to incorporate the jinx tradition.
    The second part of the episode was "Kids, let me tell you about the time when there was no dry eye in the house"-worthy. Even though it was predictable and much expected since last season's finale, it still was quite emotional and endearing. I must admit that I was rooting for Robin/Ted in the limo scene, but then I absolutely loved the Robin/Barney rooftop proposal scene! :)

    What Donna C said. Absolutely no one has to agree with every development in the show. In fact, I'd say people wouldn't have much of an imagination if they blindly accepted everything that happens. I have watched and re-watched this show, and it is simply my opinion from all the evidence presented that both Barney and Robin would be better off in other relationships. They are good as 'bros,' and nothing more as far as I'm concerned...and that's even besides the fact that they tried to have a relationship once and failed at it big time. So yeah, I don't have to agree with what the show decides to do with that.

    That's why I used the "some" modifier. I know not everyone who likes that relationship isn't oblivious to the other characters. I just tend to notice that there are numerous people who either love or hate an episode based almost solely if something good or bad happens for Barney/Robin. Like hating Quinn simply for the fact that she dated Barney or bashing Ted for holding on to the relationship. I can almost guarantee that, even if some of the following episodes are subpar, they will "love" it just because Barney and Robin are getting married. I mean, despite not remotely supporting Barney/Robin in any way, shape, or form, I still enjoyed both episodes last night.

    Completely agree. I don't think Ted/Robin could have had the relationship they had and still not be great. I mean, the sole reason they broke up is because they "wanted different things." Robin didn't want to get married or have children, so they thought it best to part ways before getting even more emotionally involved. But I mean, come on...a blue freakin' orchestra, making it rain, the Christmas light show in the apartment? It doesn't get better than that. And I still find the Ted/Robin break-up scene to be one of the most emotional episodes of the entire series. I feel like a lot of people haven't seen the Ted/Robin relationship since it first aired, because I don't find that relationship at all comparable to Barney/Robin, who fought all the time and parted because they decided they wouldn't be good for each other. Why should the second time turn out better?

    Yeah, because the scene of blue orchestra, the Christmas light show for Robin, etc, were all just "eh." A clever way of proposing doesn't mean anything for a relationship. And it doesn't matter that the Ted/Robin relationship is over... the point being made is that Ted and Robin's relationship, whether romantic or platonic, beats the relationship with Barney far and away every time. Both Robin and Barney liking Scotch, cigars, laser tag, etc doesn't make a conducive relationship, even if that's the way it turns out in the show, unfortunately. Trust me, I've tried to look for something, anything, that will make me support them, and I just haven't. Nor have I been presented with any.

    Alright, that's a fair criticism you have, and I apologize for not noticing you used "some." I agree that there are those fans who hate an episode or a character purely based on the fact that they threw a wrench into Barney/Robin, typically it seems that they are the most vocal. It's too bad that they don't enjoy the show for other reasons, but at least they enjoy the show, right?

    Very true. It just gets a little aggravating when some people go around bashing other characters that "interfere" with the Barney/Robin relationship. And then of course the occasional person that insults someone who has a different view. I mean, I've probably done it more times than necessary in a roundabout way unfortunately, but every once in a while you see a "I'm right, you're wrong, you're an idiot for thinking any different" sort of comment that is just not very cool.

    Exactly. I hate the people with the "I'm right, you're wrong, you're an idiot for thinking any different" attitude. Everyone has different opinions, and more often than not, they're going to conflict with yours. I think we all have at one point or another have fallen prey to this, but realizing this and making an effort to have a reasonable debate is a sign of maturity.


    So, while I may not agree with your Barney/Robin being stupid assessment, it is your opinion and I respect that. I'm just glad that there are other fans out there who enjoy these shows.

    Definitely agree. I likewise respect yours and others opinions as to the relationship if they're polite about it. I'm just very logical with the decisions I make, which is usually why I have arguments lined up to support my view, and I've never seen anyone provide legitimate reasons as to why they support Robin/Barney other than it's what's happening in the show so clearly they're good for each other. But yes, with a popular show with a large, dedicated following, it's almost impossible to avoid conflicts, especially in the matter of "ships."

    I hear you on it being impossible to avoid conflicts for shows with people who ship hardcore. It's like fighting a faithful fandom. Best to let them believe what they want and not provoke them in any way.

    Ted and Robin has a different vibe to their relationship. Whether they're a couple or not and they're always sweet around each other. I don't believe that Ted will get over Robin. I think he's been patient, because he doesn't want to make thesame mistake with her while they were a couple by rushing her to make a drastic decision. Soon she will realize that herself.

    Ted and Robin were always meant for each other in my opinion. They have way better chemistry, but Robin and Barney came in a surprising and weird way. They just hooked up in one night, and Robin didn't even think anything of it. But Ted and Robin had so much romance and love in the air, especially from the first time they met. The show started with Ted and Robin meeting, and in my opinion, they HAVE to end with them. Ted has done so much for Robin..

    Completely agree...I think the producers kind of shot themselves in the foot in that way. They did SUCH an amazing job with Ted and Robin's relationship that I find every other relationship either have subpar. The closest I liked with either was Victoria with Ted and Don I guess with Robin. And I just can't accept that they want everyone to stomach Robin getting married Barney, the guy who has done more disgusting things in the show than any other character. And Robin's what, #468 or something in Barney's life with everyone he's slept with and manipulated? Don't get me wrong, I love Barney's character, but I think it does a huge disservice to both Robin and Ted to have Robin marry him.
