  1. I'm willing to give Plec and TVD a little time to let this play out but I think this storyline will drive a lot of viewers nuts. There's a certain segment of the audience who have been waiting for "Delena" to happen for what seems like forever and pulling a rope-a-dope on those viewers seems a bit harsh. Additionally, I'm not sure dangling the idea that Elena's feelings may be artificial and possibly meaningless for weeks and possibly months was a good call either. Time will tell, I guess.

  2. It's not really a question if Elenas feelings are an effect of the bond. Remember the motel in S3? Their talks in S2? The dance in S1? It was obvious from the beginning. Neither of them said anything because of Stefan, but it was always there. It started as pure chemistry, a strong attraction between them. With time they got closer. She loved him long before she turned. She just didn't gave in to it, say anything, because of Stefan.
And that's the problem with Stefan. He doesn't want to "help" Elena, he wants to "fix" her. And it has just partly to do with her acting as the vampire she is and being attracted to Damon. She never wanted this. He wants to help her. No, that's how it started. Now he thinks she needs to be fixed.

  3. Agree 1000000%
I've been waiting for delena since S1. This sire bond sucks.
But it has nothing to do with her feelings for him.

  4. We all agree that Elena had feelings for Damon before the so called sire bond was created but I think theyre trying to say the reason she did everything the past few episodea and the reason her feelings for damon have escalated is because she drank his blood. I dont want it this way but i got to hand it to they creators thats genius trickery. I read last night they will be together for awhile but then they find out she is really sired to him and things become a lite messy. Ugh sucks for Delena fans.

  5. Exactly. Plec and the writers have a good reason for what they do a good chunk of the time, and I'm willing to let it play for a couple episodes before dismissing it completely. That being said, it doesn't seem like the best idea. I mean, I know I feel like that in part because I'm a Delena fan and I'm frustrated, but this feels like something designed to keep the triangle in play and frustrate fans more than a legitimate storytelling device, which is a problem. Knowing how long they planned this both helps and it doesn't. Some things this season don't add up with siring as we experienced it last year (why is Elena grateful to Damon, for example? She hates being a vampire. And how could she attack Damon first thing out of the gate if she's sired to him? I'd think she could ask him not to hurt Matt, but not football tackle him off the guy), and that doesn't give me hope for their plan going forward. But knowing they did plan it at the same time makes me think if they've been planning to do it for this long, there must be a good reason. So I'm willing to give them a couple episodes to make their reasons clear, but it just doesn't seem like a great idea.

  6. Honestly, the sire thing isn't making much sense to me either right now. Besides the contradictions you mentioned, I'd like an explanation as to why the bond worked with Elena but not Caroline or Isobel.

  7. Especially Isobel. I mean, Caroline didn't want to be a vampire and hated Damon, so if its a grateful thing, that would make some sense, but Isobel wanted to be turned, didn't she? And Damon was much more involved in the process, feeding her the blood willingly and killing her (if I remember correctly). Damon was barely involved in making Elena. He didn't give her his blood; heck, he didn't even his blood willing to Meredith, who gave it to Elena, who was killing by Rebekah/kind of Stefan/lots and lots of water. So this super rare thing happens when Elena, who has just picked Stefan over Damon by the way, is given Damon's blood by someone else, after being most of the way killed by someone/thing else, and appears not to have the requirements - gratefulness, some sort of incredible debt - or the restrictions - tackling him, pointing an arrow at his throat, and she really didn't put up much of a fight when Stefan vervained Damon either, now that I think about it - that the sired have so far had in this show, when (minus the hybrids and Klaus) no one in their line has ever had it happen to them before even under circumstances that would seem to be more likely to produce a bond like that?

This makes no sense. The only thing I can think is Elena was more susceptible because of her preexisting feelings for Damon, and even that covers only the half the problems I'm having here, and feels a little off considering, once again, she had just picked Stefan, and also leaves the question: Why did neither Salvatore become sired to Katherine? Or Sage to Finn? I don't mind twists, even when they split up my ships, but I don't get this one. If they've been planning this for so long, how does it have this many gaps?

  8. It's a frustrating situation because there are a lot more questions than answers. TVD introduced the "sire bond" concept last season and have had plenty of time to introduce a set of rules or guidelines as to how it works but they never did. Now, the sire bond concept has gone from a subplot to center stage on the show and viewers are just as much in the dark about how it works as they were when this whole thing started.

  9. The only reason I can think for Elena to have a sire bond with Damon is maybe (subconsciously) she is greatful that it saved her from being Klaus' hybrid making, walking, talking human blood bag. That's not much of a life for a teenage girl :p
