    I wonder why Plec hates Damon so much. She gives him a little bit of happiness... and then yanks it away from his hands. She did it with Rose, with Andy, hell, even with Alaric.

    It seems like she's playing by soap opera rules. You take the character(s) (and/or relationships and/or storylines) that the audience is rooting for...and do everything you can to keep the audience from getting what they want...or if the audience does get what they're rooting for...it's never for very long.


    I've spent a lot of time growling at my TV....but what can I say...growling is half my fun.

    i dont think she hates Damon.. Stefan hasnt had any happiness since like somewhere in S2 haha, In that sense she hates most of the characters on the show.

    Maybe, but at least Stefan had happiness in the beginning. All Damon has ever had is little moments that fade away before he has a chance to truly appreciate them.

    The only reason he doesn't want to do it, is because he knows that if she does throw it up, it will make her upset. See, he cares about Elena and he obviously cares about Stefan if he is willing to do this for him even though he knows that if it fails, he will see that sad look on her face that hurts him just as much as whenever he gets hurt.

    well he was happy for about 6 episodes but I do see your point. But she needs to realize that shes put Damon through a hell of a lot worse than she put Stefan.

    Julie said that the sire bond is an obstacle in their relationship and that it is not the reason why Elena loves him because she loved him before she was a vampire. She just said the sire bond means your loyal to the person your sired to. He never asked her to fall in love with him when she turned or have hot steamy sex with him. So, I think the sire bond is basically fan service for the SE fans. Just like our fan service in S3 was Stefan pushing her towards Damon.

    Joss Whedon made a point when he was doing Buffy and it was about why she always has to go through so much pain, and he said something like when Buffy is happy the show isn't as good as when she is in pain and suffering. The same applies in TVD. I'm rooting for Elena to be happy, and it seems it will never really happen because like right now it's more interesting.

    Good idea! Make a test. I was thinking of something more simple. Like Damon telling her NOT to leave the house and then she should have tried to leave. If there is a sire bond between them, she wouldn't be able to go outside.
    But this will do it.
    I've been thinking and watching the old episodes. Sometimes it seems like she is bond to him.
    In ep 2 he said "Vampires eat people" That would explain why she can't keep anything else down. She killed Connor after Damon told her to do it. And when she was burying him, she said that he told her to kill him and she did. She bit Connor and told him to stay away from Jer. But I think she would have let him go. I think, she snapped, because he tried to stake her.
    And there were other situations that make me doubt that there is a bond.
    In ep 2 he said to her "Pick your meal" She couldn't and didn't. How could she disobey if she is bond to him? And in the washroom he had to said twice to drink his blood. And when he said they have to find out who this hunter is, she didn't agree or said anything. And in ep 5 they were arguing. About her being ashamed about what happened at the party, if she should go into the tunnel or the grill.

    Yeah, but she's most focus on Damon and Elena. Sure, they all lost someone. But Damon and Elena …
    He lost all his lovers and friends.
    Elena lost her parents (both sets), Jenna, some friends, … And she's been thru hell because this doppelganger shit they dropped on her

    IF there is a sire bond, it has nothing to do with their feelings. And he also didn't say "Hey, let's have sex" using the bond to get under her skirt.

    Agree on Buffy, but …
    I'd say, the worst season for her was S6. But I didn't like it very much. Except her hot time with Spike and the musical.
    And as for TVD
    I agree that the show gets boring, when everyone is happy and gets what they want. But they could give Damon a break. At least a few eps with Elena, before they drop any shit at them (shit that could ruin their relationship).

    She had feelings for Damon before she was turned. The extent of those feelings weren't specified and the word "love" wasn't used by Elena to describe her feelings.

    The possibility exists that the feelings Elena had for Damon were intensified by her bond to Damon. Personally, I don't believe that is the case but the argument can be made.

    All very true. She never said she "loves" Damon. But the reason was Stefan. She never stopped loving him (not even at his worst in S3). I think she was afraid that, if she names her feelings for Damon (admit it), it would ruin her relationship with Stefan. But her feelings were clear. Remember the motel? They were all over each other. It's possible they would go beyond a kiss if Jeremy wouldn't be there, interrupting them.

    Sire bond or not, I think her very turning is responsible for her intensified emotions for Damon. She changed and, as a vampire, became more like him. Besides: The turning brings up, what is inside you, it intensifies your strongest emotions and aspects of your personality. Right? And she had strong feelings for Damon. Feelings (and desires) she was holding back all the time. Now they're out. Would make sense.

    I believe that, even if there is a sire bond between them, it has nothing to do with her feelings. And we never heard anything about the hybrids loving Klaus. Or even liking him. They just have to do what he says.

    Well, as I said above, I also don't believe Elena's feelings are linked to a sire bond but there's a legitimate argument for that possibility.


    Here's how I think this is going to shake out:


    The brothers confirm the sire bond and set out to find a way to eliminate it. Stefan thinks Elena's feelings are due to the bond and, while he has his doubts, Damon thinks the feelings are genuine. They break the bond and after a period of uncertainty it turns out Elena feels the same way about Damon as she did before this sire bond business was discovered. The fact that Elena still feels the same way about Damon will really piss Stefan off (even though he won't admit it) and Stefan will become more and more obsessed with finding the vampire cure for Elena and getting his human girlfriend back.

    I like your theory and agree. Her feelings are real and no illusion, created by a possible sire bond. And Stefan will be p.o. after they broke the bond and she still loves Damon.

    There is just one problem: How break the bond?

    We know, the hybrids are grateful they don't have to go thru the painful transformation every full moon. That is the trigger and the reason for the sire bond. So, transforming 20 or 50 times breaks it, cause they're not grateful anymore (if I got the concept right).

    What about Elena? There is no reason she should be grateful to Damon. She never wanted to be a vampire. And even if one day she would make that decision, she would probably want Stefan to do it, since she, till now, considered him as the love of her life (blah, blah, blah. The girl is 18. What does a kid knows about love?).

    It's possible that her feelings have something to do with it. She loved him. The problem with that theory: every vampire, that was turned by the vampire he/she loves would be sired. And they would probably want the change, to be with the person they love, so there would be even more likely a sire bond between them. Maybe the feelings have to be real and strong on both sides. Which would explain, why both brothers loved Katerina and none of them was sired by her. She didn't love them. Or why Isobel wasn't sired by Damon. He liked her (not loved) and she just used him. With Damon and Elena it's different. She loved him, like he loved her. And their feelings were real.

    It's just a theory.

    But still. How break the bond? Breaking every bone in Elenas body a dozen times probably wouldn't help.

    I know she has has feelings (I think love) for him but it just seems that every time Elena & Damon start to happen they take it back.

    Season 1 - Damon kisses Elena but then it turns out it was Katherine.

    Season 2 - Elena kisses Damon but she only does it because he's dying.

    Season 3 - Elena dry humps damon but only because Stefan told her to!

    Sorry I'm just a little sceptical that the writers might actually give Damon some happiness & let Elena go for something that she wants for a change.

    Also, did Bonnie possess Caroline this episode? She was super judgemental & she was on a date with Klaus!


    Anyways, I hope that even if Elena does have a sire bond thing for Damon and they do "fix" her that she does realise that she loves him and they have more hot vampire love sex :)

    I'm not going to waste any time trying to think of a sensible solution. If Julie Plec and the TVD writers haven't come up with a clear set of rules for a sire bond by now then I doubt the method for breaking a sire bond is going to make much sense anyway.

    With Spike and Buffy, they broke though to each other with something that wasn't exactly real but afterwards they had a stronger connection without having a physical relationship. I'm kinda hoping this will happen to D/E but no where near as brutal.
    So even though I'm expecting this to explode Damon's face, it might pay off later down the road.

    No, there is no way this is how it's gonna be with Elena and Damon. Cause they loved each other for a long time, before they were making out or having sex. They just didn't gave in before now, because of Stefan. For Buffy and Spike it was different. She slept with him to escape reality and her problems for a while. To feel alive again.

    With Buffy and Spike it started physical and became emotional later. With Elena and Damon it's the opposite. They became physical because of their emotional relationship.

    Brutal? What do you mean? That Buffys and Spikes idea of foreplay was beating each other up? I don't think Elena or Damon are into this.

    i dont actually know if i can keep watching this show.. my god, he wants stefan to apologies him and elena broke up like a week ago and shes already in love with damon, even though last episode she said its not like i dont love stefan anymore.. my god.. then she banged his brother.. this is just getting ridiculous

    are you serious how is stefan happy?.. he choose to save his brother, got tortured my klaus, got his humanity switched off, lost elena to his brother, finally got her back, she told him she wanted to be with him forever, then she told him she had feelings for damon, they broke up a day later they banged?

    the show was Damon happy?Rose died,Andy died,Ric died,Katherine and Elena broke his heart.

    The only thing Stefan's had better than Damon was time with Elena. Otherwise, both have had it crappy. And both have made each other miserable when they're not at their best.

    I do agree that they should give Stefan a break, be a little more forgiving about his judgment. It's a lot when you think the relationship's going great despite some non-romantic issues (despite Elena being a vamp they were still good together at first) then you make 1 mistake (not telling Elena what he was trying to do for her) then bang she's well...banging your brother. I'd assume something else besides her acting on her feelings too if I were Stefan. It was too quick.
