Metered Market Tuesday Ratings
CBS Wins; Three-Way Race for Distant No. 2

Metered Market Results
Household
Rating/Share
CBS 7.5/12
Fox 5.5/ 9
ABC 5.4/ 9
NBC 5.4/ 9
CW 2.1/ 3
-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Tuesday 11/30/11
ABC: +42, CBS: +39, CW: +31, Fox: -21, NBC: -24
-Winners:
Survivor: Philippines (CBS), Arrow (CW), Modern Family (ABC), Criminal Minds (CBS), CSI (CBS)
-Honorable Mention:
Christmas in Rockefeller Center (NBC), A Charlie Brown Christmas R (ABC)
-Losers:
Suburgatory (ABC)
-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS led the Wednesday overnights care of its still solid combination of Survivor: Philippines (#1: 6.9 rating/11 share), Criminal Minds (#1 overall: 7.9/13) and granddaddy CSI (#1: 7.7/13), which remains a dominant force in season 13. Comparably, Survivor was right on par with the year-ago edition set in the South Pacific.
It was a three-way race for No. 2 overall the overnights, with two-hours of The X Factor on Fox (5.5/ 9) inching past ABC and NBC by one-tenth of a rating point. But one year earlier, The X Factor was notably stronger at a 7.7/12 in the 8-9:30 p.m. block on 11/30/11. Comparably, last night was down by 29 percent. The moral of the story: The Voice on NBC is a much stronger singing competition.
ABC’s crown jewel on Wednesday, of course, is Modern Family, which won the 9 p.m. half-hour with an 8.3/13. And that was 66 percent ahead of the 8:30 p.m. portion of encore holiday special A Charlie Brown Christmas (5.0/ 8). But Suburgatory at 9:30 p.m. dipped by 43 percent to a 4.7/ 7, which led into a third-place 4.5/ 8 for critical favorite Nashville at 10 p.m.
Overall, the repeat of A Charlie Brown Christmas finished third (tied with the first hour of The X Factor on Fox) with a respectable 5.3/ 9 from 8-9 p.m.
A night of specials was positive for NBC care of annual Christmas in Rockefeller Center (#2: 6.2/10 at 8 p.m.) and SNL Christmas, which averaged a 5.1/ 8 from 9-11 p.m. Comparably, Christmas in Rockefeller Center lifted NBC to its second best overnight average in the Wednesday 8 p.m. hour this season (behind a November 7 edition of The Voice). And the SNL special is also NBC’s second-highest rating in the Wednesday 9-11 p.m. block this season (again behind The Voice).
The CW capped off the evening with bona fide hit Arrow (#5: 2.6/ 4), which built by 73 percent from year-ago special A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa (1.5/ 2 on 11/30/11) and veteran Supernatural (#5: 1.5/ 2). While the overnight retention for Supernatural out of Arrow was only 58 percent, the young demo losses are not expected to be this severe.

What, no SPN bashing this week Mr Berman? I am disappointed!
ReplyDelete"-Losers:
ReplyDeleteSuburgatory (ABC)" - I dont think so, Marc.
"and veteran Supernatural (#5: 1.5/ 2)" - Again. Mark never gets tired of repeating these magic numbers - 1.5.
ReplyDeleteMethinks Marc Berman has been getting complaints about his hating on Supernatural, since he didn't bash it this week, he just poked at it a bit.
ReplyDeleteNO TIRED SUPERNATURAL?!?! Well that's a surprise!!!
ReplyDeleteOK who is this imposter?!
ReplyDeleteit's not like he has a choice
ReplyDeleteCOPY PASTE MINUS THE BASH xD
ReplyDeleteI don't understand what happened to the guy xD
berman has updated Supernatural to a loser
ReplyDeleteSPN's ratings are still good, although the 18-49 isn't. And Suburgatory seemed to do well, too.
ReplyDeleteCrap about Nashville, although it didn't drop much, so I'm happy with that.
half hours
ReplyDeleteArrow-1.2/1.3
SPN-0.9/0.8
Suburgatory isn't a loser, it's doing good. This guy is a douche.
ReplyDeleteHow is SUburgatory a loser but Nashville is not? Makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteI think both shows are fine, no need to worry.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking the fact that Nashville wants Kim Williams-Paisley as a regular for season two as very good news for a renewal, honestly.
ReplyDeleteIt just bothers me when the ratings drop a little and I go into panic mode. Oops.
It's so horrible that supernatural has been adjusted down!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the blame is to be laid squarely on the shoulders of the writers who have forgotten what the show was all about, the two brothers and their caring bond, and have given us a pale imitation of SPN with the brothers continually at odds, and pushed to the side for the guest stars.
Then the writers seem to have taken the show for some avant-garde theatre where they can experiment with whatever weird idea that comes into their head, like the awful "Bitten," a waste of a good episode where they could have explored something more pertinant to the Winchesters, instead of a teen werewolf love triangle.
I'm sure we could have gotten by without the cartoon episode too.
'Once "Bitten" twice shy!' could apply in this case.
Just look at it like this. In a SPN best episode poll would any of the episodes that have aired so far this season have any hopes of winning it?
SPN adjusted down, Arrow adjusted up: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/11/29/wednesday-final-ratings-arrow-and-the-x-factor-adjusted-up-supernatural-and-suburgatory-adjusted-down/159713/
ReplyDeleteHoly crap no SPN bashing. I think that's the most notable thing about his whole review. O.O Do you think maybe he's sick this week?
