You know, I've been thinking about this a while back when I was rewatching the show, about my favourite episodes.
I have to go with Excalibur, from the creepy wraith, to the making of the sword, the fights and the discussion between Uther and Nimueh, I think it was a fantastic episode.
I'm still waiting to see how great Excalibur is in Arthur's hand, because other than "this thing is not bad" as Arthur said, we've only seen it being more that a sword in Uther and Merlin's hand.
My 2nd favourite, the finale of course, without a doubt.
By the way, great idea. It's nice to remember why I like the show in the first place :D
I love the conversation between Uther and Nimueh! And I so can't wait for Excalibur to actually start meaning sth more than just a nice sword for Arthur! I mean, I loved its magic in the legends!
Uther and Nimueh were superb! It must have been a bit daunting for Michelle Ryan to go up against Tony Head in some ways, he has such gravitas, but she really nailed it. I truly felt that Nimueh was as old and worldly-wise as Uther :)
You're right, and it showed that Nimueh wasn't just a baddie, she had a real reason for going after Uther, she helped him and he betrayed her by killing her kind and starting a war. Of all the villains, I think she was the best, and I would've like to see more of her.
For me it's The Moment of Truth'.. I loved looking a bit into Merlin's background, meeting his mum and his friend Will - and of course we also get one of the first 'near reveal' situations. It is the first time we really can be sure that Arthur (despite being a prat) likes Merlin and Gwen,Morgana and his mum all can see that Also enjoyed the Merlin/Will/Arthur triangle. It is a shame that most people Merlin loves, die.
In many of the legends, Merlin and Nimueh were romantically involved so I reckon it'd be cool if it turns out she's not actually dead and she does return as a recurring love interest for Merlin.
I love the first episode as Merlin were so ingenu and naive that I loved him at first sight. I love the finale too: Merlin's despair and will to save Arthur, his mother and Gaius were so well played and great Colin Morgan performances to watch.
I've had a couple of people suggest doing some polls about fav episodes. I'm thinking of running this for the first 4 seasons and then do a showdown between the winner of each one if people are interested in seeing that?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
The finale for me :)
