This one is difficult, I don't actually have a favourite episode, just favourite moments within them.
The 1st two and the last two had some great battles, magical or with swords, that were great to watch.
The Crystal Cave was an interesting ep, the revelation of Morgana's parentage, but it's a shame that the cave itself wasn't explored further.
I liked the Castle of Fyrien mostly because it was the last time the main four characters went on a quest together, and I know that Morgana was evil already, but they made a great team. Overall it was a great season, that introduced some great characters like Gwaine, Elyan and the other knights, which makes it worst that they're so underused in S4 and S5.
I really enjoyed the Crystal Cave - Merlin was so torn between what he felt was his duty (as suggested by Kilgarrah) and his feelings for the people he liked. But why did he save Morgana? I know it was so they have a couple more season of the show :)...but then, he could have saved hundreds of lives by doing so .... They Eye of the Phoenix is another favourite. 'Courage, Strength and Magic' a lovely line I remember fondly. The Coming of Arthur 2 was also a great episode, with Merlin showing a slightly more advisory role. Actually it was a very good season - I had a hard to time just to pick these three.
I loove the eye of the phoenix, it could be a movie by itself. A bit disappointed now (in season 5) that they seem to forget that Gwaine actually care more about Merlin than about Arthur. I had high hopes for the last ep (lesson in vengeance) when Merlin told Gwaine to keep Arthur safe etc etc but then in the rest of the episode Gwaine didn't actually do anything D:
Yeah, I agree...I enjoyed Gwaines character in season 3 so much, but since he is part of the main cast, he is suddenly just a random knight. "The eye of the Phoenix" was so great in establishing the friendship between him and Merlin further...in fact, all the episodes in season 3 with him are basically my favourites.
Also agree that it is a shame that the writers seem to have forgotten about Gwaine. Yes, he's there a little bit. but he is such a great and popular character, surely they could give him better material!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
