  1. Emma/August feels all over the place. Wasn't the best way, but still.

And aww, Charming comforting Henry. Something bad is about to happen if people are sharing prophetic dreams.

I like that Emma bonded with the Giant. Awesome episode and I loved it!

    ReplyDelete
  2. Definitely my favourite episode so far. I loved it!

    ReplyDelete
  3. August just got a whole hell of a lot more creepy. Nothing like helping to destroy someone's life.

I guess the purpose was to draw parallels between August, Whale, Jefferson and Rumplestiltskin.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Some of the worst CG I've ever seen. XD

Hook wasn't naive to the fact that he was traveling with four incredibly beautiful women. Bindings would likely be involved in my fantasy of that scenario as well.

As for Emma's past, they really jumped through that too quickly. One moment they've just met, the next they're in love. There are several developmental stages between attraction and love that should never be ignored.

Snow, you only recently met that women and one time she attempted to stab you. Good on you for being so nurturing.

  5. Thoroughly enjoyable. Loved thatthe Giant was a sympathetic character (casting Jorge in the role kinda made me think he would be... because Jorge seems to play those roles - and fairly well, I might add). I have a bad gut feeling over this whole nightmare thing those who get knocked out by magic seem to go through. Poor Henry and Aurora. All around, a solid ep... was great learning Emma's history, with August and Neal's connection as well.

    ReplyDelete
  6. That was awesome!! A few points that I didn't understand/thought were interesting...

-What was in the box? A human heart that was still beating? The OAUT book?
-What were Henry and Aurora dreaming about? Is this 'the way' that Charming and Snow communicate in the subsequent episodes?
-Who is Neal? I mean we know he is Henry's father, but when August was telling him about the fairy tale stuff, he got so freaked out, so I don't think he would be Bae... but you never know, I doubt August ever knew about Rumplestilskin though. Someone must've told him, so he could have drawn the picture back in Season 1, but who?
-How could August have sent the postcard when he was wooden? Is that what he was talking about to Blue in Season 1? To send the postcard on behalf on him?

  7. Jennifer Morrison as young Emma didn't bother me as much as I thought she would. I think she kind of pulled it off. And Hook is damned charming haha... I'm glad he's sticking around. I also enjoyed seeing Snow go into protective mother mode comforting Aurora. It was so sweet, and gave us a glimpse of the mom she could have been to Emma. And goodness gracious did I tear up when Charming lit a candle for Henry to "keep the nightmares away" just like he used to do with Snow. I wonder what it means that Henry had the same nightmare as Aurora? I'm intrigued.

I loved the surprise visit from August! It makes me sad that he was part of what made Emma into the more hardened individual that she is today, but it was cool that he checked up on her and looked out for her like he was supposed to.

My only real issue with the episode is that the parts with the giant were really obviously CGI at times. Especially when Emma fell from the giant's grasp... yikes.

  8. Neal/Baelfire is playing August so bad.

See how he just casually bring up that he wanted to be informed of when “she’s done with what she has to do”. Why? Because he knows his father is the one responsible for that curse and he wants to enter Storybrooke and have words with him AND get back together with Emma.

I stand by what I’ve written before. NO ONE with no previous knowledge of magic just starts to believe in it just because some stranger dude says he needs to. Even if there was a beating heart inside that box it wouldn’t make an instant believer of anyone that haven’t been near magic like that before.

And BTW? where did August acquire whatever is inside that box? Isn’t our world a place without magic? I don’t remember him bringing a magical object with him from when he arrived via tree truck.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm torn when it comes to August. I think it's cool that he was actually watching out for her back then like he promised to, but he pretty much destroyed what happiness she did have and allowed her to spend a decade in prison, turning her into the more hardened person she is now... but it's not like she was leading the best existence anyway... I don't know how to feel haha.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Except I'm pretty sure she wasn't in prison for a decade.

    ReplyDelete
  11. It was the wrong way to go about things, but he was just trying to help her. And it's not like he destroyed her life forever.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ah, I see where I got mixed up now. I heard "11" both times, and got mixed up when they showed us "11 years ago". I suppose I assumed that's how long she was in without actually thinking about it. It all makes sense now.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Communication through dreams... little weird?
What the hell was in the box? - I think a camera :p
    August <3

  14. I was mostly bored. Jorge Garcia was fun as the giant and I'm curious about the dream Aurora and Henry shared, but Emma's backstory was disappointing. Felt way too rushed and the Emma/Neal romance was so over the top it was almost funny.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Didn't care about the flashback thought it was boring as most people figured out Neal(baelfire?)would be Henrys father. Hook was great but my favourite stories are about Rumplestiltsken and Regina. I might be the only one who finds the Charming family to be boring

    ReplyDelete
  16. Everyone who was inflicted by the sleeping curse (Snow, Henry, Aurora) has that same dream.

    ReplyDelete
  17. So was Neal the guy we saw in the first episode? I assume so cause August said he'd send him a postcard as soon as Emma broke the curse. (I was lying down on my couch and sat up when I heard that! I was like that's who August has been in contact with? August must have send the card as soon as he I'm assuming, woke back up.)

I wonder what was in the box that instantly made Neal listen/believe.

And oh no, it's never good when people start sharing nightmares. :I

Liked Emma letting the Giant go. I felt really bad for him when he said he was all alone. Also like that Emma made the Giant keep Hook handcuffed for 10 hours to give her a head start. She's been playing smart, which is awesome.

I agree with others about the CG but hey, it's a TV show. In my opinion, it's still better than the fairy cloud place and Wonderland.

The CG is why I love scenes that happen in the forest so much better. (The forest is so beautiful too.)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Did Snow have that exact dream, though? I know she said she had nightmares, but I didn't realize she'd had the same dream about the red walls and the eyes watching.

    ReplyDelete
  19. i loved the love story between hook and emma

    ReplyDelete
  20. I don't think he was creepy. I do think he didn't understand how much Emma loved the other guy, though August did do as promised and sent him a postcard when the curse was broken. August didn't have to do that.

He only broke them up because otherwise Emma wouldn't have found her way to Storybrooke. And he figured 11 months in jail was better than being a crook all her life (August I'm sure didn't know Neal was trying to get clean of breaking the law or he didn't believe Neal would/could change).

And if Neal does go to Storybrooke, then maybe he'll have a chance with her again if he explains.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's still a really shitty thing to do, especially when he seemed so incredibly selfish at the end of last season.

    ReplyDelete
  22. ...or he could have told her instead of Neal? Basically, he fucked over Emma and Neal from having a child they probably both would have wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  23. And the breaking the curse thing seemed to be really about how HE was changing

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, because raising a child in a life of crime (Let's be real, they wouldn't have stopped) would have awesome.

And why would Emma have believed him? I doubt the magical box would have convinced her.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wow. That episode blew my mind. I, of course, loved the Hook and Emma parts. Especially when she pulls him back from the tripwire. Kinda sad that she left him behind, but that's just because I like him. lol! The giant was awesome and I loved how Jack was a sword not a person. I also thought that the CG were kind of bad. I loved how this episode focused not only on Emma's past, but also focused more on the fairytale land now storyline than the Storybrooke storyline. It just seems like they spend more time on the Storybrooke storyline than the Emma and Snow storyline. I know that they need to do that, but still glad that we had one episode where it was just about them pretty much. I'm now wondering what was in that box that August had. What would make Neal believe? Of course, this show always leaves me with more questions. All in all an awesome episode and I can't wait for next week!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Emma seems to have stopped. And now is trying to steal a child that isn't hers.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Because she was in jail. And she's not stealing Henry. She and Regina seem to be sharing custody at the moment, even if Emma's not there. (Also, Regina has willingly given up custody at this point)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Decent ep with some backstory that still left us with a lot of questions: what the heck is in the box? I thought that was where August kept his typewriter, but obviously there's something else there..., what's with the shared nightmares between Aurora/Henry? Unless I missed something, is Neal NOT Henry's father? - I thought the scene when he met up with August in vancouver was 11 months after he left Emma and he still had the car/keys and when Emma got the keys in the mail while she was locked up and was holding a positive pregnancy test, so this would preclude Neal from being the father... I wonder if I watched those scenes incorrectly... Pretty good ep and I liked the Lost easter egg with the "Apollo" candy bars making an appearnce..

    ReplyDelete
  29. Henry isn't her child. She gave him up.

    ReplyDelete
  30. She looked like she knew exactly what Aurora was talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  31. August could of had the box from the time Emma and him were in the foster home,or wherever it was suppose to be August has had plenty of time acquiring whatever was in the box..

You cannot possibly say that just because one doesn't have previous knowledge of magic he couldn't start to believe once he sees what was inside the box.We don't know what is in the box, your making an assumption, and your putting your beliefs in what could and couldn't be. That is not possible if only for the fact that this show isn't based on fact or even sticking closely to the fairy tail stories...

    ReplyDelete
  32. I modify my answer in light of Henry saying "her eyes" and aurora saying "his eyes." Maybe the sleeping curse people are connected.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, I didn't dislike it as much I hated the Pinocchio episode, but I thought it was terrible. The CG sets were horrible...which always sticks out for me because I've gotten so used to watch CG scenes and most of the time it doesn't jump out at me.

The Emma back story was boring and too on the nose. It didn't help that the actors had zero chemistry. The plotting was pedantic and predictable. All I can think now is...ugh! We're going to have to revisit this couple when he gets to down. (What was his name anyway? I know he said it but I don't remember and the IMDB page hasn't been updated.) At least it became mildly interesting when August showed up. Given the craptasticness of the first 25 mins of the ep...I really needed to see what was in that box. I needed to know why whatshisname believed August cause I wasn't buying it or why he'd trust August enough to hand him cash and a car to pass on to Emma.

The beanstalk story wasn't particularly interesting either. Pretty much one note. Again...pedantic. At least Emma and Hook have some chemistry and they guy playing Hook is fun and interesting to watch.

I did like Snow and Aurora, the dream thing was interesting.

Number 2 on my list of worst episodes of Once Upon a Time. (Only two eps on the list so far, happily.)

    ReplyDelete
  34. i'm guessing that this is how Snow and Charming communicate in the next few episodes...

    ReplyDelete
  35. i'm not sure snow or charming would see it that way... do they know that the wardrobe could take two? And geppetto would not be happy at august either when he finds out what happened to emma and everything.

I also wonder when August returns in the present. my guess is in the last minute or so of the episode before the Christmas break!

    ReplyDelete
  36. How do we know they will communicate?

    ReplyDelete
  37. She gave him up but Henry was unhappy and when Mary Margaret gave him the book, he read the stories and went in search of Emma. When she got to Storybrook and saw how Regina was treating him, she decided to stick around to protect him. If Regina had been treating Henry well, Emma would have left him with her.

  38. episode 8 short synopsis: http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/11/once-upon-time-episode-208-and-209.html

    ReplyDelete
  39. August didn't start changing until Emma got to storybrooke actually. So before that, it was about him getting her back to her family as he promised too

    ReplyDelete
  40. I feel bad for August; he has this huge responsibility but he himself is kind of a mess and just recently seems to have got his shit together. He seems a fan of tough love, maybe it was what straightened him. Still, had he known she was pregnant, I dunno if he had followed the same plan.

I got curious why not showing the box to Emma in the first place and get rid of the hassle, but maybe she had to live a "normal" life without magic. Why I don't know, but I can't help getting the feeling that it was a "she has to be prepared" type of thing. Which kinda backfired for August because later when he showed Emma hard evidence, she was so closed off to magic that she couldn't see.

We get it, Hook is hot and charming, attraction between he and Emma is almost a given! they didn't had to smear it all over the place in their infiltration plot. It felt overdone; sometimes less is more.

Worst CGI since the boat scene in Ringer!!

  41. InvestedInYourFutureNovember 5, 2012 at 8:03 AM

Hook/Emma - I have no words. JUST BRILLIANT. That chemistry, those parallels, that snark. Everything just...works about them. Hoping to see more of that because frankly its the second pairing in this show after rumbelle that grabbed my attention. Perfect, just perfect.

Also love backstory - I am wondering on what did August show to Neal in that box that made him instantly believe?

Also betting that Neal = Peter Pan = Baelfire.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hell, Emma came ye close to leaving Storybrooke and Henry last season. And Regina decided to try and murder her and got Henry instead.

    ReplyDelete
  43. No Regina and no Rumple, but I still managed to like it. Means it was indeed really good.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Was anyone else thinking that when Emma got the car keys and not the money, that August took the money and went to Phuket on vacation? I used to like August, but seeing that he was kind of responsible for Emma going to jail and her eventually giving up Henry he's kind of hard to like. Yes, breaking the curse was important, but ruining a person's life over it. It will suck to be August when Emma finds out what he did.

    ReplyDelete
  45. No idea what was in the box, but I don't think it is the book - because that would prove nothing - or a heart - because where would August have gotten it?
The weirdest thing about the dream was that Henry said he saw eyes of a woman, whereas Aurora said the eyes belonged to a man. It could be the way Charming and Snow communicate, but then wouldn't Charming be the one dreaming instead of Henry?

    ReplyDelete
  46. actually on 2nd thought, i think the dream stuff has something to do with the sleeping curse- when Aurora described her dream to Snow, it seemed Snow knew exactly what she was talking about. Snow, Henry and Aurora have all been subject to the sleeping curse- is there anyone else?

maybe August showed Neal a mirror, and then Neal saw that August was a puppet

i hope Neal isn't Bae either, maybe he's Peter Pan? There were a lot of references to Neverland in this episode, and I hope they weren't all red herrings...

hopefully August returns soon in the present. mid season finale?

    ReplyDelete
  47. "I thought the scene when he met up with August in vancouver was 11 months after he left Emma"

Emma got 11 months in prison but the scene with August and the guy was 2 months after he left Emma.

    ReplyDelete
  48. "It didn't help that the actors had zero chemistry"

Absolutely agree with you! It was more fun watching Emma/Hook. They HAVE chemistry.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I feel so disappointed that Neal is not Bae :( I thought that he was, and I was sure that he was! And well nooo :(
This episode wasn't that good. Most of it was boring and like you said previously, Emma/Neal story was so quick. That wasn't good. And agree, Jennifer and Michael had no chemistry at all. It was painful to watch them trying to pretend to be in love.
The thing is different with Emma/Hook, I loved their parts! And I hope we will see some more!
Aurora is so irritating, I am sorry, I just can't stand her. Typical princess and she wanted to climb up? Haha

    ReplyDelete
  50. Regarding CGI, it felt like I was 8 years old again, watching Power Rangers. Doesn't bother me, but it sure was weird.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Loved it! Loved that we got to see Henry's father (finally!!). Loved Snow being all maternal. Wished I could have seen more Charming though!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Look everyone, if you're going to downvote me, at least have the conviction to tell my why.

    ReplyDelete
  53. you guys do know this was a flashback time right? why get upset with August for what happened in the past, when he's been trying to make it up in the present now? I can't be angry with him. Haven't seen the ep yet but I def will. and please be so kind as to leave my post free of dislikes it shows how immature people can be.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Really? I don't think Emma/Hook have any chemistry.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I don't think that Neal is Bae. Because August knew about Rumpelstiltskin some private stuff that only Bae knows, so it is pointless for Neal to lie to August about his past. I think he is just some random stranger who was in the right place in the right time so he fall in love with Emma and we know that love is the most powerful thing. I might be wrong, because ten years is a lot, so why he just didn't move on, but well all the signs are clear - he is not Bae.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Loved this episode, I wasn't expecting to love it but I was so glad to know more about Emma and I love her lovestory with Neal so beautiful to know that she was in love once and with Henry's father no less.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Uh, I don't think so. Emma decided to stay because Regina was bitchy to her. Not the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  58. What? There was no attempt to murder.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yes, exactly. Which is why it became an imperative for him. Nothing like sending a girl to jail instead of being honest.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Adding downvoting was the worst thing this site ever did.

    ReplyDelete
  61. @twitter-16108010:disqus We never "added" it. Disqus did. Out of our control.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I know. It's why the commenting system is problematic.

    ReplyDelete
  63. @twitter-16108010:disqus What do you suggest we do?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I like the episode but not as much as the others.... I think it's because I don't like the actor playing Neal....I mean I loved him in other shows but not as Henry's father and Emma's firts love :( (+ no chemistry with jennifer morrison...)

I absolutly love Hook but I don't like that they try to force Emma/Hook on us....I don't "feel this ship" rigth now. Maybe I will with less obvious scenes, more history between them and not just the "he's hot, she's hot, let's put them together" thing. But at least, I admit they have chemistry :D Perhaps, too, I'm too invested in shipping Emma with someone else and i'm a little reculant to new people in her live...let's wait and see :p

    ReplyDelete
  65. Does anybody know what August showed Emma's boyfriend!

    ReplyDelete
  66. What about the apple then? It was a sleeping curse (so not really murder, but still..) it was meant for Emma but Henry ate it to prove to Emma the curse existed..

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ha ha ha! You're rigth Aurora wanting to climb up was hilarous :p but unlike you I kinda like her :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Ok, that makes more sense.. thanks for the clarification!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Okay, am I the only one who thought, when Aurora and Henry were talking about dreams...mentioning curtains and someone in a corner...OMG they are talking about BOB from Twin Peaks. Black Lodge!!!!

(Would love to hear someone say, "The owls are not what they seem.")
Also liked the Pulp Fiction trunk aspect of that box. My guess it showed Rumpel's knife and Neal is Bae.

    ReplyDelete
  70. SmallvilleSupernaturalCastleNovember 5, 2012 at 5:01 PM

so neal is henry's father correct? and what was in august's box did he show us before in season 1 or is that something we havent seen that convinced Neal magic exists? Great episode great seeing august again and the cgi with the giant and beanstalk werent too bad i thought.

    ReplyDelete
  71. What? When he sent her to jail there was no imperative nature other than to get her out of a life of crime so he could help her get to storybrooke later. Which obviously he got distracted again and forgot about her but he didn't put her in jail for any selfish reason. When Emma came to storybrooke with Henry, 11 years after he got her locked up, was when he started to change. He didn't know he was going to.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Although I thought I would have preferred a younger actress cast, I thought JM did a good job!

I was intrigued with the Asian letters that appeared on the brick wall right before Emma and companion were pulled over (since she is now connected to Mulan and the wrath comes with an Asian coin). Do any of you guys know what they read?

Interesting vision with those associated with the Sleeping Curse...Even though Snow didn't say she had experienced the same dream, it seems like she alluded to it. It's curious that Henry thinks a women/female was with him and Aurora a man/male with her. I am trying to think if this just represents an "opposing" figure, or a shapeshifter (Cora)? The red curtain bit made me think of Cora and red that could be in Wonderland, but also the Wizard of Oz, with 'the man behind the curtain' -like analogy. But I am also reminded of the red room in Twin Peaks. It seems like this vision is prophetic and perhaps they are all going to be there together and that is what they are seeing?

So nice to see August again (even though he could be perceived as a bit of a jerk) and to know he was playing course correcter this whole time! It's obviously really sad, but I also think we don't know who that guy really was/is and how it is August thought Emma being alone would be better for her, or better for Storybrooke, except perhaps we have John Locke mantra here with suffering is natures way of strengthening.

SO FUN to see Garcia as the Giant! Also fun little reference with 'Jack' being dead, which I did not expect! And I liked the sword!

-There was a little more POTC references too with talk of rum wasting and Emma locked hook/Jones up to be left behind (Very Elizabeth Swan and Jack Sparrow with Davy JONES' kraggen in DMC)

Also kind of neat Dream Catcher stuff from both an actual dream catcher and from lighting a candle, but I wonder if any of them really work? Or should they take the nightmares away?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Yes! Agreed!

And this goes back to Felicity too. Megan, a Gothic Wiccan (Some Wiccan practice and believe in magic, spells, curses, hexes, ect), who basically had the magic (and often destructive) touch, carried around this BOX with something "unknown" in it through out the first half of the series. At one point Meghan's parents visit and Megan, not letting them know she's a goth Wiccan, makes it out that it is Felicity's box. Her parents some how look in at some point, and they are horrified! -Felicity also eventually dreams about "being in Megan's box" which, kind of also like this"red room" thing, has these rooms which seems like there is no way out and the episode offers a deep psycho-analytical insight into the characters and their relationship problem solving skills. To this day I don't think it is ever revealed what was in Megan's box (but it almost sounds like bones rattling around)

This is the beginning of Abram's "mystery box" concept (which seemingly H. and K. continue to carry with them) that seems to continue in almost every work. As we only ever learn SO much about the nature of the universes our characters exist in. I mean do you know just how many cubes, boxes, and squared/rectangular objects his works have?! It's nuts, nuts, nuts! :D

    ReplyDelete
  74. I don't think he is Bae either, but I am not sure if he is a completely random stranger, because August felt strong enough about him to course correct him out of Emma's life...But at the beginning of Season 2 we see Neil is more "upstanding" than we saw him here in the past. It's also screwy because August is ok with him "now" -as he sent him the postcard letting Neil know the curse it broken. It almost suggest that Neil needed course corrected too, because August must believe he will be important/needed down the line, otherwise there is no point in keeping in contact with him...

    ReplyDelete
  75. Probably the worst hour of the show by now. Still, it wasn't terrible. I just didn't believe anything about this episode because the CGI was SO bad. I mean, it was just... disasterous. If they can't pull off Jorge Garcia (who was horribly miscast) as a giant they just shouldn't do it. Next week looks amazing though.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I am confused with the flashback. In one scene Emma is visibly pregnant and in the next scene she isn't. Emma finds out about the pregnancy in the very last scene.

In the first season Emma told Regina that Henry's father didn't know about Henry. If Neal is his father, he knew in that scene, in which Emma stole from the store.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The visibly Pregnant Emma was a ruse it was a pillow filled with stolen items.

    ReplyDelete
  78. No Neal did not know until August told him. Thus the postcard in the beginning of season 2.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm thinking, i know we had quite a few in Alias,i think 2 in Lost,no probably more then that.Alcatraz i only remember the one. I know,i'm off,guess we can say a lot,lol...

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yeah,i didn't think he was Bae either.I agree,i do believe August course corrected him in the past, and even by sending him the postcard he course corrected him again. I can't figure out why though?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Damn I thought we'd finally get a clue about who Bae is. Really thought/hoped it was Neal.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yes, Neal was definitely the guy we saw in the first episode.

I do adore the fact that Emma's returned to playing smart. It's the characteristic that made me stick around for the pilot (I really thought I'd hate the show based on the promos and pre-premiere publicity.)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Well maybe he is someone like Peter Pan, but I hope not. I mean I wanted Neal to be Bae so badly! It has been long time, Neal changed his life, but well, he is still lonely, like Emma and I hope he will reunite with her.
But him as Peter Pan would be great triangle Peter-Emma-Hook. they did the plot line pretty well, Hook was flirting with her and Neal was flirting with her, she left Hook, Neal left her.
And if you just think it is weird that he didn't even call August crazy when he said about magic. So you might be right :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. I thought the same thing about August. We must remember he IS Pinocchio, and as he said himself - this world has many temptations and he's not good at saying no. What he did, leaving Emma again and taking her money is unforgivenable, but it fits his character. Anything better might made us like him more, but would also ruin the character IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Sending her to jail WAS about putting her on the right track. Taking the money intended for her and going to Thailand, wasn't. It fits his Pinocchio character allright, but it still suck. Had he kept his word to Neal, she might have broken the curse 10 years sooner, kept her son and had more faith in people. August. IMO, is much more responsible for her downfall than Neal.

  86. I have to disagree with you regarding Emma's past. In the limited time each episode has, they cuoldn't have shown us the falling in love proccess without giving up on somthing else. To me it felt like they pressed the fast farward button for us (knowing we can complete the blanks easily) in order to get to the more importent stuff

  87. I don't know about you, but I think Snow knows more about the sleeping curse than what she said. She had some cryptic look in her eyes when she talked to Aurora about it. Same goes for Charming, and the worried look he gave Henry (with a touch of fear maybe?) when he told him of his nightmare.

  88. Snow's motherly protectiveness just never ceases to amaze me. Her love for Emma is just so profound, so real, kudos to the acting this week. It's top-notch.

August stealing the money is not surprising, although it's quite disappointing. But what is in the suitcase btw? It's curious!

I guess Emma's ex-bf/Henry's father wasn't as horrible as how Emma made us imagine it in True North. But this is because she didn't know the whole story. I hope he gets to Storybrooke soon, he seemed like a stand-up guy.

But, Emma leaving Hook on there was a bit of a let-down. I mean, I could see that Hook was sincere enough to help her (or maybe because I was biased toward him), and she left him up there. But this is understandable as she had a similar experience. I was also kinda disappointed because I could totally see Emma and Hook being together. But I also want her to be with her old bf. Arrgghh! I'm confused!

  89. And Charming also looked like he knew what Henry was talking about, perhaps Snow also told the similar dream to him.

  90. Jack was the sword? I thought there was a Jack on the sword because it belonged to a guy whose name was Jack?

  91. I feel the exact opposite. The acting and the script in this episode was SO good IMO, that I wasn't too much bothered by that disgusting CGI. But honestly, how can they screw the CGI up so badly in a world post Lord of the Rings?

  92. Jorge Garcia was really horribly miscast, hopefully they don't do the whole "BIG guest star so we can slip on the writing". Because the story was weak as well. Which is a shame because it could have been a fun episode.

The CGI grated really badly, they have done good CGI before so there really is no excuse here.

August was made way too mysterious in this episode, it stopped being interesting and was just plain annoying. Emma failed to interest - as usual. Felt her decision with Hook was a bit rash and streched credibility a little. The acting from Mulan and Aurora was pretty bad, (and Henry, but thats a given) the sooner we say goodbye to those two the better. I kinda wish we get to see more Snow and less Mary Margaret. Snow is an interesting kick ass character, M.M. is as dull as dishwater. Unfortunately when they merged M.M. won...

  93. One of the worst episodes, and such a waste of Jorge! The CGI was just awful.

  94. I know this episode might not be everyone's cup of tea, but i really enjoyed it. It was the episode from Once so far that felt more like "Lost" to me, I really felt like I was watching a Lost episode for some moments there. I loved Emma's backstory and seeing August again, was not expecting that. The action in storybrook was also good, i am loving hook very much! I also like mullan and aurora but i would like them to be more than sidekicks in some episode. Looks like aurora is heading that way, sharing dreams with henry. what is up with that? anyway, i enjoyed the episode very much.

  95. Good post! You brought up a lot of what I was thinking for this episode. Although, I liked the giant storyline, despite the CGI.

  96. I find that sleeping curse dream really interesting. I wonder what it's about? I'm looking forward to it being revealed, hopefully by season's end.

  97. I was thinking all of these things after watching too! Thanks for sharing your thoughts in this post!

August's "magic" box - I was taking guesses at what was in that box that made Neal believe. Maybe one of those magical hearts? Who knows? Although, I did wonder why August didn't show Emma that seem thing, since if it made Neal believe, it should've done the same with Emma. But, Emma believing due to Henry was much more poetic imo.

Sleeping curse dream - I found this to be one of the things that stayed with me from this episode. It's so interesting. I hope they show this dream and what it means before the end of the season. Perhaps all the sleeping curse people get stuck in that void/area, while they were sleeping, and only see each other's eyes. I wonder if this is how Charming will communicate with Snow (as per episode 2.08's synopsis)?

Giant - I liked this storyline. I felt bad for the giant too. And I found the hint at the giants' side of the story, an interesting reveal. I hope we get to revisit the giants' story, at least a little, in later seasons.
