POLL : What did you think of Dexter - Argentina?

  1. This ep was just one of the best in this season. So far.
"Do what you do" I still can't believe she actually asked him to kill. "You're all I have left" That almost broke my heart. I mean seriously: she needed so long to accept who Dexter is (and accepting it doesn't mean she approve) and I don't wanna know how long it took her to gather the courage to ask him to kill Hannah. And now he is letting her down?
Oh, f**k!!! She told him that not only she loves him she's in love with him. I haven’t see this come. Not until the end of the season. I was shocked and then I was cheering cause it was finally out of her system. It was clear at the beginning, when she discovered the truth about Dex, that she couldn't go on loving him and especially telling him. reveling it to him is just the beginning. Next few eps could be interesting. But I agree he hurt her more than ever before (by fucking Hannah and not killing her although she fits into his code. Deb probably really believes that it turns him on). And I agree that Deb is more fucked up then her serial killer "brother".
How did he had the courage to have breakfast with Hannah. Wasn’t he afraid she could poison him? And how does he find the courage to go back to her every day?
"I'm, not gonna stop seeing Hannah just because she is a murderer. And my sister want's to kill her" Oh my, that was priceless. "I killed one of his key guys" "Well, it happens"
A gay bar? Nice idea. Victor was his lover? That explains why he is eager to kill Dexter for
    revenge.
I still don't understand why Batista is going to open this restaurant. He loved being a cop. And he was good.

  2. Very solid episode tonight, a thinker for sure.

I'm glad that Deb finally got the whole "in love with Dexter" thing out into the open and out of her system (well verbally). The whole conversation at the end with Victor I kept thinking that some of what he's telling Dex relates to Deb (whole thing about love being inconvenient and inappropriate, make us do things we wouldn't dream of doing) and some of it he was relating to Hannah ("best we can hope for is to find some place where we don't have to pretend").

I don't like the rift between Dex and Deb but they are playing out their whole relationship so masterfully that it feels organic, real, somber, heartfelt, tragic, and it is amazing to watch. Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter have such amazing chemistry (as does MCH and Yvonne, but to a lesser degree), and Jennifer Carpenter has been knocking it out of the park all season. And it pains me, us, the viewers who care, to see her be happy and involved in Dexter's life, to feel like she understands him a bit more, only to be hurt even more. I hope they eventually will come back together, hopefully my theory of Deb killing LaGuerta to save Dexter will come to fruition

And while it is good to have someone onto Dexter, it is annoying that LaGuerta is finally being a real cop and actually doing police work. Who knew she could be a cop?

So all in all, a slower episode, but still a very solid episode. The ending scenes with Deb/Dex, Dex/Victor, and the montage made it amazing.

  3. It was heavily implied in episode 2/3 and since that Victor and the other guy that Dex killed were lovers.

  4. I think too that Isaak gave Dexter a lot to think of about Deb and Hannah.
"Find a place where we don't have to pretend" Well that's what I'm saying. Dexter wants back what he had with Lumen. From day 1 she knew about Dexter and accepted him, didn't think of him as a monster. He could be who he is (without pretending or lying). He can be like that with Hannah, that's what he wants. But, as I said, Lumen was a victim that needed his help. Hannah is an ice cold killer. She kills for her own benefit.
Oh, yes, Michael and Jennifer are both grate actors and have a great chemistry. They were married. Got divorced last year (too bad) – glad they still play so good together (but true we don't know what's happening behind camera).
Deb killing LaGuerta? Well, she sure does have it in her (otherwise she couldn't be in homicide) and everyone is able to kill to protect those you love. But I still hope it's neither Dex nor Deb. If she's running around and accusing Dexter to be the BHB and then she disappears, or gets killed (no matter the circumstances) by Dex or Deb it will drag too much attention into their both lives and he could be exposed. I hope its Isaak or Hannah. Or some other killer, so no one would ever suspect Dex, even if LaGuerta is revealing her theory to everyone.

  5. wow....Dexter keeps getting better and better.....lots of people stay away from spoilers but at the beginning of every epi they show what happened before....and tonite they showed us the meeting that Deb had with her Dr, telling her that she was "in" love with Dex...and i said why are they showing us something that happened so long ago....then Boom, it happened...Deb finally told Dex...i was crying in that balcony with her...that was so sad.... :-(

but i was surprised bout Issck & Viktor being lovers...i thought he wanted revenge cause he was his son not his lover....but i heard something early on in the season that he was gay but didnt believe it...and now, it seems that Issck might kill Hannah for Dex after all...that would be a easy way out to kill hannah....a lover for a lover....☺.....

  6. First off, I just feel silly now for confusing Isaak with Victor, don't know why I switched up their names.

At first I thought Yvonne/Hannah was just going to be a carbon copy of Lumen (a much more attractive version), but the same situation. But I do like the difference in that Lumen was a victim who only had the darkness that Dexter has for a limited time and only directed towards the people who hurt her, where Hannah is a killer (unsure of how much she actually enjoys it).

Ya I was aware that Michael and Jennifer were married for, I believe 2 years, and recently got divorced. I'm glad that it hasn't affected the show and their work on camera. I think there was an interview with Jennifer where she said she still loves Michael and it hasn't creating any angst behind the camera.

Hannah or Isaak killing LaGuerta is possible too, I just thought it would be a good show of Deb's final choice in Dexter showing that she does love him and will stand by him, even if she doesn't agree with everything that he does.

  7. i think Batista bought that restaurant cause they are starting to close out the characters storylines after the show ends next year...and thats something he has been wanting to do for years now...☺...

  8. That is exactly my point. Lumen was a victim. She became a monster because of what dose other monsters did to her. She had to kill them (in particular them) to find her peace. To get her life back. And once it was done, she was free.

Hannah is a coldblooded killer. I don't know if/how much she enjoys the killing. But she is not seeking for her peace. And she is not defending herself. I don't know if the story she told Dexter about her husband is true. But even if. Who kills her own husband because he doesn't want kids? It's not the middle ages anymore. A woman can have kids on her own. She doesn’t need a husband to protect her and provide all she needs. Besides: Shouldn't you talk things like kids out with your partner BEFORE you marry him/her? And what about that old lady she killed? It looks like she did it to get the house and the business. It looks like it. We didn't get another motive yet, so it seems like she did it for money. And the author? So, he wanted to write a book. Who cares? If he had any prove (that would pass court) she would have been arrested. So she could get a lawyer and prevent the book from being published because he has no prove of the theories he publishes.

And remember that we don't know how many others she killed. We know of these 3 victims and the woman she stabbed all those years ago.

Deb killing LaGuerta to protect Dexter would be great! But as I said, if LaGuerta is reveling her theories to anyone and then she dies by the hand of Dex or Deb (or disappears like all the other BHB victims) people would get suspicious. Unless, they kill her together and make it look like it was someone else (like Isaak. And then of course make him disappear.). That would be a great end of this season.

  9. I think, closing out the characters storyline has nothing to do with it. In an interview they said they have no idea how the show will end. It's still open. And no matter how it ends (if Dex ends up dead or in prison or running for Mexico, or back in his lab), it has no real importance to the other characters. Except Deb (if he dies or goes to prison, she'll probably follow him). The others can still work as they had.

I really think that it had something to do with Deb becoming Lt. and not listening to him about the bartender. He gets disappointed, feels like he is not important to the others, his life standing still, ... He was one of her mentors, he taught Deb so much. Then she gets promoted before him and is not listening to his advice. And didn't he had a midlife crisis last season?

It's just my theory. He loved being a cop. And beside his divorce (both of them) and his midlife crisis he had no problems. Let me put it that way: He had job-related problems.

And it's true that it's been a while since I watched the old seasons, but I can't remember Batista ever mentioning a restaurant. Till this season.

  10. Deb telling Dex she was IN love with him was a shock and surprise for me too. I thought
that they showed the doc cause Deb is visiting her again (or she comes to see Deb).
He's not killing Hannah, not next ep. She's in ep 10. I think it's either Dexter or Deb to finish Hannah off.

  11. Batista can have his restaurant......he will always be a detective first and I guarantee that Deb, Dexter, and Quinn will always be their running ideas and questions to him. He will will be their consultant on cases while running his place.......more so Deb and Quinn,....maybe Yemana too.... hey maybe LaGuerta will get killed and Miami will need a new Captain....Captain Batista sounds nice....... who knows

  13. I thought it was a beautifully written and acted episode. Bravo!

  14. I think in an interview I read they said they had an idea for the ending, but just not the specifics.

I agree. I don't think Angel ever mentioned wanting to own a restaurant before, but he did just say that he has been thinking about it for year...

It could be Batista's final arc, but I think it's going to be more over a rude awakening (as I think 'dooms day' themes are still running through the season in the wake of the season 6 aftermath). I think something really bad is going to happen in the redcurrant, especially since the name is "Papa's" playing on the coming to terms with your father themes in the series.

  15. This is probably my favorite episode of season so far! So much going on! So much emotion running wild! <3

  16. Interesting episode. I can't say that I approve of this weird triangle storyline yet but what I can say is that all of the performances in this episode were really great. Dexter, Debra, Isaak, Hannah, and even Astor were all great. I'd bet good money that Debra will either kill Hannah or LaGuerta by the end of the season.

  17. have u or anybody here read the book or the series of books that Dexter is based on?... do u know if they are still writing them or are they finished?.....cause if they r finished, we would have a pretty good idea how Dexter is gonna end....☺....

so if anybody knows how the book or books end....can u give me a heads up and tell us...☺...

  18. Well there's that thing called Wikipedia, did you know about that? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Dexter ;)

Btw don't get your hopes up, the books don't kill off Rita and there's a totally different progression after the first novel.

  19. Yep, Ciff is right. The books are still ongoing and really stray from the TV series a lot. They share elements, but I find the novels to be a different animal.

  20. thank u Cliff & Darth....im still new in the web world, didnt realize how powerful Wiki is, lol.....so i guess the books wont give us any major clues as to what will happen in the Series Finale next year.....but they have plenty of storylines if they wanted to continue after season 8 but i know they wont....☺....

  21. To borrow a simonandmartina phrase "Good Googly Goo!"
What... What the... What the eff?!?!
I mean - you know, the sister love, the killer love, the gay love, the good googly goo...!
    What an awesome episode.
The best part was Dexter's face after Debs little confession/explosion!

Then he ran away - so he is normal after all. Because let's face it, that would be the first reaction of any normal person who had a sibling confess "lovey dovey love" AT them - Fliiiiight!

Hannah is also an amazing character. Yay Yvonne! Thank god she's not a Lumen clone.
Isaac was wonderfully conflicted and a little sympathetic which was nice.
It's just the Joey storyline that's irking me. I can't stand that character, sorry. I want him to go the way of Lewis the creepy intern - Shot on a Boat (hmm.. sounds like a Dr.Suess line hehe).
Apart from that it was a thrilling and disturbing and superb episode!
Ooh Laguerta - who's gonna kill her..?
