Merlin knows he must act fast before Morgana’s twisted control over Gwen gets further out of hand.

But only the most powerful magic can save the Queen and this will not be easy, even for Merlin. As the High Priestess tightens her grip on Camelot, one thing is clear - she will not give up her puppet without a fight.

Colin Morgan is Merlin, Bradley James is Arthur, Angel Coulby is Gwen, Katie McGrath is Morgana, Richard Wilson is Gaius and John Hurt is the voice of the Great Dragon. Tom Hopper, Rupert Young, and Eoin Macken return as The Knights of the Round Table.

    The way synopsis sounds, Merlin is searching for a way to get true love back in Gwen’s heart(as in, a way to make her remember how she truly feels about Arthur) in order to literally make her feel emotions other than hate again.

    Nowhere does it imply that the problem itself is magical and since its not fixed after all these episodes, Morgana really just simply broke Gwen - hence Merlin can't just "fix" her.

    Since the damage done is literally of non-magical kind, it only makes sense that it is harder to find a magical way to undo it - after all, natural and supernatural forces are not meant to interact that much.


    And I would not be surprised if in the end, a completely natural way for Gwen to regain her sense of self is found…like, let’s say Arthur and what he feels for her getting to her.

    I get this feeling that Merlin searching for magical way to solve a natural problem won't work and in the end it will be Arthur's honest and true feelings for Gwen that get through the brainwashing and insanity of Gwen.

    Yes, but it would be a great opportunity for Merlin to show Arthur that magic CAN be used for good. This is episode 5X9 we are talking about. Something must happen to move the storyline along, surely!
