ReplyDeleteStill a huge fan. Love the show so much. But i think is time to reveal the truth about Merlin to Arthur. It's getting boring and it seems like the writers are scared of writing about it, after five years doing a show of Hide-the-truth-camelot-can't-handle-sorcery.

ReplyDeletei'm a bit confused about this ep, going by the teasers sandi has kindly given us, the content of this episode (to me), doesn't sound like it goes together with the episode title/press release or by what i'd assumed it'd be about - which is the curing evil gwen, with bits of arwen thrown in - i'm now thinking its more about morgana and sorcery (i'm not saying that's a bad thing, just not what i thought the episode will be about) i'm making no sense probably - i'm so rubbish at these comments .....

ReplyDeleteWow, remember when the story was about Merlin? You know,the guy who has has magic? We just passed show #8, and there are only 5 more to go. Evil Gwen was a nice twist but it's time to move on (as in last episode) and focus in on the MAIN character and how he fulfills his destiny, the one we were told about 5 long years ago. The show is called Merlin for a reason. I'm tired of Arthur's bedroom activities being shoved in my face. Bring on the magic and the reveal.
ReplyDeleteSandi, thanks for posting teasers.Don't know if you can tell us this or not, but does Arthur figure out that something is wrong with Gwen on his own, or does Merlin clue him in? Based upon the trailer, it would appear that Arthur and Merlin are spying on Gwen, as she has one of her clandestine meetings with Morgana. Does Gwen do anymore mayhem before she is found out by Arthur, or does he learn about her situation early in the episode? As always, thanks for any info you can provide.

I cannot wait for this ep. I just hope Gwen gets to find out about what happened to her. Loving all the A/G scenes so far.

I so hope that there will be something for Merlin/Arthur fans in this episode, even though it promise mostly to be about Gwen. It's just that I miss their scenes together so much.
Hmmm, I'd say the PR for this one is pretty spot on, Merlin doesn't find the powerful magic required to cure Gwen easy, for a few reasons, and Morgana doesn't give her up without a bit of a fight.

ReplyDeleteBest episode this season for me. All the actors are right at the top of their game too, the fact they enjoyed making it seems to come through in spades.
ReplyDeleteYep, it was very quest like which is the kind of episode I like. The knights are under used is my only grumble, but an obvious effort has been made to include them as much, and as organically, as possible.

ReplyDeleteSandi thanks for the spoilers. Wonder what those reasons are!!! Do we get an idea of what sorcery was used on Gwen and how Morgana achieved it? I think she got some help or color me stupid but if she didn't then that's practically saying Merlin is not as powerful as Morgana....and that isn't right IMO. I know Merlin is still "young" but he is Emrys and Morgana shouldn't have that much more magic than him. Is it just me but don't you think Morgana has to be really daft to hang onto Gwen considering Merlin and Arthur know that Gwen is under her control yet the witch doesn't want to give her up without a fight. Hello, what use is Gwen to her if they already know what they're dealing with? All Morgana's plans are just dumb in the end.

I'm not saying there aren't plot holes, there always is with this show, lol. But the character stuff makes up for it imo, esp Mordred, he's just fab in this!

I know what you mean :( I'm not holding out for a reveal at all now if I'm honest, esp as I now know this is the last year, and that they mean the missed 3 years between S4 and S5 were the 'golden years'. I wish they had announced the end of the road a lot sooner tbh :(

Well the ratings say the opposite, bring on more bedroom activities of the Pendragons, best ratings of the season. Some of us love romance, but I also want the damn reveal and blast it I want to see the legendary warlock and king come into their own. You can have both, though the blasted writers are the ones that cannot integrate both at the same time. Time for the magical reveal already. I am already pissed that we will never see the glory of Albion and Arthur Pendragon being an epic king. I am also beyond tired of the vacillating character that they have turned Merlin into and enough with the crying. Merlin is awesome, let him show his awesome.

With this amazing cast they could have done great story had they packed the courage to do the reveal and develop Arthur into the great king he meant to be and Merlin into the friend and Adviser and Gwen into noble humble Queen instead of what they are doing with this season.
... we have not seen ANY of it. It's as if Merlin is no longer good enough for her majesty. The way they portraying Gwen this year is really OOC, but apparently Angel loved it. "Whatever rocks your boat" as Colin says.

ReplyDeleteAhh, got you :) Yeah, he's a great actor, well they all are in the main, but in this episode he really has fun with the other two characters and obviously worked hard to make them as distinct as possible. It's fantastic to see his Emrys be serious for once too, rather than being comic relief too!

ReplyDeleteLOL @ people complaining there's not enough Merlin/Arthur moments, when they get the most screentime. God forbid the show spend some time on other characters (especially the women) who are important to the plot! No wonder the writers don't seem to care about developing any of the other characters since people whinge so much when it's not about Merlin 24-7. But then the fans turn around and complain about how they don't like certain characters because they're not developed enough. Make up your minds; you can't have both!
