“HART OF DIXIE” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)
“Baby, Don’t Get Hooked on Me” (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

A LITTLE ROMANCE GOES A LONG WAY / GUEST STAR OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST MCKAYLA MARONEY — After Zoe (Rachel Bilson) treats the high school football team, she learns that Max (guest star Nicholas Podany), who happens to be Rose’s (guest star McKaley Miller) new crush, has become infatuated with her instead. Eager to nip his crush in the bud, Zoe learns that Max is prone to overreacting to heartbreak and is encouraged by the town to wait until after the big game, as they are counting on him to win. Lemon (Jaime King) decides to start a catering business and asks AnnaBeth (guest star Kaitlyn Black) to join, but Lemon is taken aback by her answer. Meanwhile, Lavon (Cress Williams) tries to win over Ruby’s (guest star Golden Brooks) grandfather Sergeant Jeffries (guest star Charlie Robinson) by doing his chores, but Lavon finds out there is another reason her grandfather doesn’t want them together.  Scott Porter, Wilson Bethel and Tim Matheson also star. Michael Schultz directed the episode written by Carter Covington (#207).

  1. It's always amusing when Zoe gets pulled into Rose's personal drama.

  2. I love it too... And I think it does have a lot to do with Rose being actually a good, non annoying, teenage character.
(And I'll say the same about Magnolia. I really like both girls. The actresses and the characters work really well).

I'm not too happy with the Lavon/Ruby thing. I guess he likes his women more bitchy than average, but I honestly think in the long term a nice girl, like AB would be better for him. (look at me actively shipping AB/Lavon)

  3. I agree with you 100% about Rose and Magnolia. I only wish they'd use Rose more often. As for Ruby, she wore out her welcome with me a few episodes ago. She's way too arrogant and self-absorbed for my liking. Who moves back to a small town after years of living elsewhere and decides within a week they want to be (and should be) mayor?

  4. For me Ruby's taken up the slot of the token annoying/aggravating character that Lemon was holding last year (Cause seriously minus the whole throwing AB under the bus with the pretense of maintaining Lavon's integrity, just because she was jealous, Lemon has been pretty wonderful this season.)

  5. Again, we agree. Lemon is so much more enjoyable to watch this season. My only disappointment is that she isn't sharing many scenes with Zoe. I loved it when she was "holding her hostage at knife point." Their scenes together were good.

  6. I totally agree with both you guys. Love Rose and wish they'd use her more. And I love to hate Ruby, she's arrogant and witchy, but she gives Lemon an outlet for her hate that is totally deserved, and she's given Lavon a great story arc, so I don't want to keep her, but as a villain I appreciate her.

  7. Oh I don't love to hate Ruby. I simply can not stomach her. I get zero enjoyment when she's on screen.
ZERO! I'm actually counting down the days until she goes away.

  8. I'm with ya. More Zoe/Lemon can go a long way. I was shocked when Zoe actually told Lemon she slept with Wade. I was hoping that would kinda come in handy in some way. And with Lemon helping Lavon out, there was a golden opportunity for them to bump into each other a couple of times. Too bad that didn't pan out.

  9. Oh I hate her. But I think she's a good villain...one you want to "die" or go far far away (not like Klaus on TVD, good villain but I liked him and I didn't want him to leave, so actually bad villain). Ruby is vile and I want her to be beaten and sent back to Atlanta ASAP. So as a bad guy I *love* the job she has.

  10. For me a good villain is a character who is there for more than just to cause friction. Someone whose perspective I can at least see and appreciate, even if I don't agree with.

    And Ruby lacks that.

She's hardly a decent opponent for both Lavon, in the mayoral race, and as an antagonist for for Lemon. She seems mean just for the sake of being mean.

I don't like her, I don't appreciate her and I don't think she's even serving the purpose she is there for.

  11. Zoe has been getting on my nerves these last few weeks. It seems, to me, that George is the only character that is still mostly surface and not completely fleshed out.

  12. I agree, but then, we cannot deny that her frenemy interaction with Lemon was always funny. Remember the bar scene? I couldn't stop laughing.

  13. I disagree.

    A) There is no frenemy vibe. IMO they outright dislike each other and show it.

    and

    B) I didn't find the bar scene funny. I found it cringe worthy, for the simple fact that Ruby is NOT a good antagonist. She doesn't measure up and she comes off lacking in everything. Except being unsubstantially annoying.

Look I understand what the character's purpose is, objectively. But for me the execution isn't working. I think the character lacks depth and even her bitchiness is is stilled and wooden, and honestly I don't think Golden Brooks is bringing anything with her performance.
IMO the character is failing in every aspect. And she should be written off as soon as possible. She has overstayed her welcome.
