THE FIFTH AND FINAL SEASON OF “FRINGE” CONCLUDES WITH A TWO-HOUR SERIES FINALE, INCLUDING THE 100TH EPISODE, FRIDAY, JANUARY 18, ON FOX
Climactic Nine-Episode Countdown Continues with an All-New Episode Tonight
As the Fringe team fights for humanity’s future in the fifth and final season, the imaginative journey toward the end of the acclaimed series will culminate in a climactic conclusion during the two-hour final-two-episodes event Friday, Jan. 18 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. This milestone date will also celebrate the series’ 100th episode.
Series Co-Creator and Executive Producer J.J. Abrams reflected on the show’s run: “It has been an absolute honor to have been a part of the weird and wonderful world of FRINGE. I will always owe the cast and crew for pouring their hearts and souls into every dimension of this series. Creating the show with Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman was a joy, but watching it evolve over the years into such an imaginative, insane and heartbreaking ride is nothing less than a thrill. I am grateful to our blessed fans, and to Kevin Reilly and Peter Rice and everyone at the glorious Fox network for allowing FRINGE to reach its bittersweet conclusion.”
Executive producer and showrunner J. H. Wyman said, “Above all else, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to personally thank everyone involved with FRINGE. From the most amazing fans, to our incredible cast, writers and crew, and our wonderful partners at FOX and Warner Bros. – we would not be here without you. It simply cannot be overstated how grateful I am for the ongoing and unconditional support we have received over the past five seasons. It has been both mind-blowing and humbling. I’ve always been a fan of science fiction, and to be able to tell this story about a family – a family that, through everything, fought together for survival – has been a highlight of my career. As we approach the final chapter, I can hardly believe it, and I’m just truly thankful for this unparalleled experience.”
“FRINGE has truly imagined the impossibilities over its five seasons and will go down in the books as one of FOX’s most riveting and creatively brilliant series,” said Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “It has been a blast to work with J.J., Joel and their masterful creative teams, as well as with Anna, Josh and John and the rest of the most talented cast and crew in the business.”
Throughout FRINGE’s thrilling five seasons, the series has followed Special Agent OLIVIA DUNHAM (Anna Torv), enlisted institutionalized “fringe” scientist WALTER BISHOP (John Noble) and his globe-trotting, jack-of-all-trades son, PETER (Joshua Jackson) as the Fringe team explored mysterious occurrences linked between parallel universes, doppelgängers, Observers and unimaginable threats. The unlikely trio supervised by Special Agent PHILLIP BROYLES (Lance Reddick) and assisted by ASTRID FARNSWORTH (Jasika Nicole) – often led them to science and technological corporation Massive Dynamic, founded by WILLIAM BELL (guest star Leonard Nimoy), and its enigmatic chief executive, NINA SHARP (Blair Brown).
The fifth and final flash-forward season of FRINGE is set in 2036, when the “Observers” have become ruthless rulers of a dystopian society. As the battle for the world’s future continues to unfold, the Fringe team is in the midst of making its final stand to save humanity. In the aftermath of the devastating loss of Peter and Olivia’s daughter, ETTA (guest star Georgina Haig), the intensity escalates as the combat continues and Peter makes a pivotal and game-changing move in the all-new “An Origin Story” episode airing tonight (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

I just burst into tears :'(
ReplyDeleteSo which episode J.J. will direct?
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad!!! I don't want this show to end!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh heck thanks for making me cry over a frigging press release. The finale is going to be like Lost all over again which two and half years on still causes me to cry just by looking at a screencap of the finale or a gif.

Damn... Reading this article made me sad... really sad... It is the End of the Show... and still it hurts like hell and no, I'm not being dramatic. As I'm from the Netherlands and the Dutch are well known for their down-to-earthed attitude we sure show emotions.... Yeah... ♥
My absolute favorite show is ending. This is the worst feeling ever. :(
ReplyDeleteBUT WHEN WILL THE OTHERS AIR?! Do we get a break after 7 and 8 through 13 run straight through or what. I need to know!
ReplyDeleteWell they are definitely airing 05x06 on 9th Nov and 05x07 on 16th Nov. I think the only way they can fit all the eps in without showing them over Christmas is by airing 05x08 on 23 Nov and 05x09 on 30 Nov. Then 05x10, 05x11 can air 4th and 11th Jan with the final two eps 18th Jan.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling sad now..been awhile for a longer then one or two seasons for me. I've enjoyed this show. So sad it's ending. T.T
ReplyDeleteOh GOD You're gonna make me cry at work. :|
ReplyDelete&
ReplyDeleteHappy Fringe Friday , People! *HUG* ♥
This really got to me..i'm an emotional wreck now..
ReplyDeleteThis is bittersweet. I hope the finale will exceed all expectations, I will miss this show a lot.
ReplyDeleteWell, I've lost House M.D. few months ago. I'll lose Fringe, Breaking Bad and Dexter next year. Something will never change: I hate goodbyes.
ReplyDelete"This is the endBeautiful friend
ReplyDeleteThis is the end
My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end"
Instead of being sad it's ending, I'm going to be happy there's more Fringe to come and that we're fortunate enough to be getting a proper ending. Congratulations to everyone at Fringe for making it through the sadistic obstacle course of broadcast television.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sad that it ended ! Last year, it was House MD. This year, it is Fringe. But, it warms my heart to think that we have the chance to end the series like it deserves to be with these 5th season. We've been through lots of feelings thanks to the awesome cast&crew !
ReplyDeleteTHANKS TO FRINGE'S CAST AND CREW ♥
Game changer tonight!?!
ReplyDeleteOh I am going to miss it! -But I am looking forward to that futuristic buddy-cop android show!
But I am SO grateful for this final season. Thank you FOX and of course Bad Robot and Warner Bros for giving all of us a proper ending to one of out favorite shows! <3
Glad to see that they're going out with a sufficiently lengthy episode. I'm sure it's going to be epic.
ReplyDeleteYes, and don't forget that Fox has indicated that there's a good chance of the story of Fringe continuing past the finale in some form of spin-off media - comics, perhaps.
ReplyDelete23 Nov won't have an episode. That was confirmed by Masked Scheduler a couple of weeks ago when he said that there were four episodes in a row after the break following 501-503. 504-507 would end 16 Nov. What would happen after that is 508-510 on 30 Nov, 7 Dec, 14 Dec, and then 511 on 11 Jan.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I can't lay flat and see planes fly over, or see an image of Jack and Vincent. -I just go all to pieces!
ReplyDeleteBut will the finale be episode 100 and 101 or 99 100
ReplyDeleteIt started with a 2 hour ep and will end with a 2 hour ep..... It will be epic
ReplyDeleteI'm so, so glad that Fringe was given a chance to conclude the series on their own terms but the end is so close! Here's to a 100 episodes!!
ReplyDelete99,and 100! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of surprised becaus eI remember very clearly JW saying on twitter that the last episode would air on Feb 2nd,not Jan 18th!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, are we sure that 5x13 is not a 2 hour long episode just like the pilot.
Because if they make 5x12 and 5x13 one whole episode then it will be 99 episodes and not 100...
They must have changed the schedule. There was an announcement by FOX that the S2 opener of 'Touch' would air on Feb. 1 (Friday), and that show also has the 9 pm timeslot. So this explains the discrepancy.
ReplyDeleteAs for 100 eps, my guess is they will air 99 and 100 back-to-back as a 2 hour special, rather than combining them into one episode.
Nicely said Robert.
ReplyDeleteNone. He was lying when he said that last season. That, or his good intentions just didn't pan out.
