  5. Finally some imagery. I liked the description of the premise, and this promo looks really good to. I'll definitely give this one a shot.

  6. Until they start portraying Leonardo as the gay man he was - he was accused of sodomy twice and had to flee more than once because of his homosexual relationships - this gets a no from me, no matter the imagery. It's like portraying Truman Capote or Andy Warhole as womanizers. No, just no. Straight washing history is inacceptable.

  7. Just because there is a scene with a woman doesn't mean he won't be gay on the show. There are any number of reasons why a gay man would be having sex with a woman.

Starz has not shied away from gay sex in the past (such as Torchwood). I see no reasons to be jumping to wild conclusions yet.

Even if they don't have him being gay, I don't see what the big deal is, since it is quite likely that very little on the show will be historically accurate. It is drama, not a documentary. TV shows are always extremely liberal with the facts.

  8. Exactly.

This is not a documentary, not even historical fiction. This is just fiction (if not science fiction) using an homage to an historical figure so that they can take advantage of intellect, ingenuity, and inventions associated with Da Vinci... and of course his name recognition.

  9. Does anybody have any idea of the name of the song? Tried googling the lyrics but couldn't find anything...

  10. -Sorry for my English- I loved the idea of a TV show about Da Vinci. He could make such a facinating character. It could have been interesting -had he been portrayed as such- to see how he handles his homosexuality at a time where it is forbidden, to see his opinions about religion and the consequences of having such a great mind. All I see in this promo is action/violence (Da Vinci's sword fighting? Really?) and pretty faces/sex. I know it's fiction but I just hope we'll get a bit of intelligence/subtlety too.

  11. To take one of the most iconic gay historical figures and make him a womanizer - and read the description of the show, it's stated right there that he's the lover of Cesare Borgia's mistress - make him straight is wrong. Imagine them taking Martin Luther King Jr. and making him white. Straight washing history isn't any less wrong than white washing it. There are very few historical figures that gay people can be really proud of, to take that away is wrong.

  12. As far as I remember, he was charged of sodomy once and was left because there was no evidence. Since then there has been a lot of speculation and interpretations which is open to debate, but correct me if I'm wrong, there is no solid confirmation that he was gay. He could have been bisexual too.
Also, David Goyer said that a lot of what this show covers is a speculation of that few years of his life that is not documented. Let's give the show a chance before deciding the show is inaccurate (based just on the trailer) because of some ideas we have about the character.

  13. Also, even though a lot of people like to say so, as far as I know, there is no confirmation that he was gay. And it does not really matter to me. The thing that interests me about this show is the exploration of a mind like that was so out of his time. Da Vinci is, according to me, the most brilliant human that ever lived.

  14. We don't know if there will be any man-on-man action either, so he could easily be bisexual.

Just wait it out and lighten the fuck up.
