After a tumultuous three-and-a-half year relationship, Chevy Chase and the producers of NBC’s cult comedy Community are parting ways by mutual agreement. Chase’s departure from the show is effective immediately. The bulk of Community‘s 13-episode fourth-season order have been filmed. Chase won’t appear in the 1 or 2 episodes that have not been shot yet.

Fucking finally! Just wish he had left earlier.
ReplyDeleteCool. Cool cool cool.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I'll miss him much!
ReplyDeleteHot. Hot hot hot.
ReplyDeleteYYYYEAAAAAH BITCH!!!!!! FINALLY
ReplyDeleteGreat dislike of his character + definitely not surprised, why stay at a job which you clearly hate so much?
ReplyDeleteWow you are all the worst. Chevy Chase is a brilliant actor that has contributed much to the show. Pierce is written to not be a likeable character, much like the rest of the study group. His vulgar and ignorant comments are used as a smart way to teach the audience what is wrong in the world. He is a valued member of the cast and he will be missed.
ReplyDeleteFinally! I only wish they had fired his disrespecting ass instead of a mutual agreement. Chevy was a pompous, arrogant, self-absorbed asshole.
ReplyDeleteFinally! Looks like Jeff's wish from the beginning of last season is coming true;)
ReplyDeleteSay what you want about Chevy, but Pierce was a great funny character - his delivery and timing was inch-perfect and the show will suffer without his humour.
ReplyDeleteI am actually glad about this! Very good news. Please renew the show now NBC, it will be even ebtter. Chevy Chase, and Pierce for the matter, have always been the only weak point of an otherwise brilliant tv show! I miss community very much btw
ReplyDeleteI certainly won't miss him
ReplyDeleteHe's an asshole. He frequently insults not only the genre he's a part of, but the very show he was cast on. He once called Community a mediocre sitcom. He said THAT about his job. That's a huge disrespect to everyone who actually loves and contributes to that TV show.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that he kept his job for so long is a mystery all on its own. If I was in any position of power on that network, I would have told him to gtfo a long time ago based solely on his terrible attitude.
I really don't give a damn about how good of an actor he is, or how good his character was, what I care about is what kind of person he is, and Chevy is without a single doubt a terrible person.
I really hope he never gets a job in the industry ever again, because that old man needs a reality check.
I have mixed feelings about this. I'm sad for the in-universe story and characters, but I'm very happy for the show and production team overall given how much trouble Chevy has given the show over time.
ReplyDeleteSad for Pierce, not so much for Chevy. You reap what you sow.
ReplyDeleteNo actually. He was a sour, ungrateful actor who shitted on the show at EVERY.SINGLE.OPPORTUNITY. Look up some interviews.
ReplyDeleteYou're that person that bags on him whenever one of his endless drummed up dramas threw another wrench into the show survival and are now pretending like you were rooting for him all the time. You really are the worst.
He brought needless drama to the show, contributed to its network struggles, and his gags were always the least memorable ones. Harmon was also a dick, true, but he unquestionably made the show what it was.
Pierce was always the most/only disposable one. Won't miss him; wish it had happened earlier (before Harmon left).
I vote for Bill Murray replacing him in the 1-2 episodes he's not in, and no one in the group notices ! Or a goat ! Or even worse : Jim Belushi !
ReplyDeleteNo but seriously, I don't care what Chevy Chase thinks of Community or of sitcoms in general, or how annoying he is on the set : I'm not watching him, I'm watching him play Pierce Hawthorne. I think he's a key part of the group, in the antagonist / father figure / losing his mind / misunderstood / from another era category. Without him, the group could be off balance, and while he's the most 'expendable' of the Greendale Seven (as he often is the outcast), I think I will miss him.
With Jeff's father appearing in the season (played by James Brolin), I think there's a way to make things right and 'explain' Pierce's departure in a somewhat coherent way, or at least spiritually coherent : Jeff might patch things up with his father, then Pierce disappears... yep, I see how they could find something to work with that.
For all we know, many actors of many of our favourites shows are complete dicks on the set but PR skills and skillful use of media prevent this information from coming to us. Chevy just spoke his mind (even if he acted like a jerk and what he said was rubbish and ungrateful).
Thankully, as I said in this thread ( http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/11/community-chevy-chase-will-be-in-season.html ), Pierce will leave the show in the season finale. Between having a major cast member leaving in the finale (good !) and leaving in the penultimate episode (bad !), I much prefer the latter. And as I said, with the whole father thing going on with Jeff, they can even wrap the season on a beautiful note, give a proper send-off to Pierce.
Good riddance. Wish it had happened 2 seasons ago.
ReplyDeleteLeast fave character. If we had to lose one, he's the one I would pick. Except for maybe Chang who often feels superfluous.
ReplyDeleteBuster Poindexter? Is that you? :P
ReplyDeleteI agree with this, but also think that Pierce was not as well used on the show as he could be. Guess we will see what Season 5 is like.
ReplyDeleteI am sad we are losing Pierce as he has had some truly hilarious moments. While I am happy that Chevy Chase's bad attitude will be gone, it will be interesting (if the show continues on) what it will be like without him there. He's part of the core study group, so I will miss that, and cherish that. But everything behind the scenes of Chevy's behavior I will not miss.
ReplyDeleteYou know who they should replace him with? They should introduce a new student, by the name of... Dan Harmon.
I never felt that Pierce was a good fit for the show, and the writers just made him too unlikable lately. I'm more than fine with him leaving, and even though Chevy is a dick he isn't wrong about awful Pierce has become.
ReplyDeleteWE WANT DAN HARMON BACK!
ReplyDeleteI've got to say. I'm not sorry to see him go. I think his feud with Dan Harmon brought the show a lot of negative publicity, and I don't know that he brought too much to the table as it was. I'm sure they'll find another sexist, racist old guy to fit the profile soon enough.
ReplyDeleteI like Pierce and would love the study group to remain intact throughout the series. However, Chevy seems to be toxic to the rest of the cast and crew so it's probably for the best he's leaving.
ReplyDeleteGive him a proper send off and worthy replacement. I just want the show to stay on the air.
ReplyDeleteAlmost, but he was a man of 3 Hot's. I'm Evil Abed :D
ReplyDeleteCommunity will be a much better show without the racist, homophobic jokes. I am really, really glad he is gone.
