    If the show is intent on ignoring the whole "gravity-defying vampire" thing, like they have since early on in season one, then why the hell do they insist on continuing to use the footage?

    Also, not to be nitpicky, but this is neither a cold open or a promo. It's a new opening title sequence. I'm sure if TVD continues to use it they'll most likely cut it down. It's a little long.
