Okay, here's the problem I'm having. Rebekah killing Elena I understand. I very much don't approve, but I understand. She was grieving and scared for her own life and she already hated Elena; using Elena to take care of her Ric problem made sense. But it was two humans in a crappy pick up truck. She couldn't figure out another way to get at her without killing Matt, the guy she has feelings for? And she couldn't have dove in after them and pulled Matt out? I love Rebekah, but no. Not cool. That being said, that was an actual (if highly inadequate) apology, which is better than Klaus has ever managed. So that's a step in the right direction, anyway. The party invite was a bad icebreaker, though. We don't start "Sorry I tried to kill you" with an awkward high school party ask out.
Seriously Becca? You kill Elena (during her transition you even mock her about watching her die again), almost kill him and then you wanna hang out with him? Be friends with him?
If she'd have some sense she'd be leaving town. Why is she staying? She should know what everyone thinks of her. Does she like being tortured and humiliated? Guess so.
See, Rebekah, this is what happens when you use Klaus as your moral compass. Not everyone allows people to belittle them, stab them, etc. then pop up the next day like nothing happened.
She looks a little confused as to why her "you have to understand" apology didn't fly.
"She couldn't figure out another way to get at her without killing Matt, the guy she has feelings for?"
Rebekah is prone to violent irrational behavior. That's why this doesn't make sense. When anything goes wrong for her or the second she gets her feelings hurt she immediately lashes out in destructive and self-destructive ways. She's unstable.
True. I suppose I'm not trying to say I don't understand why she did it, but that I hope she learns from this incident a little bit. Maybe start to think things through more. I don't expect her to become a comfortable person to be associated with, but maybe a little less uber-destructive. Otherwise, what with her falling out with Klaus, I can't imagine she'll have much to do. No one wants to hang out with the kind of friend, or even just a potential ally, that almost kills you when she gets pissed off at somebody else. Which would be a shame, because Claire Holt is fun to watch and I want her to have a good storyline this year.
The main difference being that Damon would never put Stefan or Elena's life in danger, or Ric (sad ... RIP) or Liz's if he could help it. He certainly would never leave anybody he likes, or even just somebody he knows, to drown in a sinking car just because they happen to be in the same car as somebody he doesn't like. He's not what I'd call a shining example of morality, but he is at least loyal to the people he cares about. As Bruce_F more or less pointed out, Rebekah will turn on anybody who hurts her - which has included her own family at times, and of course now Matt. Which like I said above, I sort of wish she'd stop doing.
Rebekah hate confuses me. It's obvious she's not the show's most stable character, but she's a vampire who's known nothing but that life for a thousand years. She's missed out on a real teenage life because her father took that away from her when he turned her into a vampire. So she tries to live a normal high school life, but when something goes wrong she'll react to it the only way she'll know how, like a vampire would, with violence. One thousand years of being a vampire outweighs about 17 as a human. She's struggling to reconcile those two parts of herself and will always fall short if people don't give her a chance. I'm not saying Matt should forgive her, of course, but we have to keep in mind that Rebekah will probably never get that reconciliation because of the fact that people judge her based on her violent actions, which come about only because she is a vampire. She deserves more pity than hate. Especially in a fandom where Damon gets an infinite amount of free passes from the fans after exhibiting similar reckless behaviour.
Poor Rebekah. I have loved her so much ever since we first saw her. I sure hope she's not gone for too long, and besides, I like every single scene Claire and Zach have with each other, even though this one is a bit sad. Here's for team Mabekaha. :)
I agree. Compared to Klaus, Rebekah is the only one who has truly shown remorse about what she's done and even though that apology wasn't the greatest she still meant it. I just wish people would give her more of a chance. All in all, she is still just 17 year old girl and she's been that way for a thousand years and it certainly doesn't help that her brother has been manipulating her all that time. I also agree with you, that she probably shouldn't have started with "I'm having a party." Not the best way to get Matt's attention.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
REBEKAH!!! LOVE her so much!!!
ReplyDeleteBasically, what I just watched was "Sorry 'bout the attempted murder, Matt. Wanna party?" Rebekah is going to have to try a lot harder than that.
ReplyDeleteIf I were Matt, I would have punched her right there.

ReplyDeletelol so true.. I hope she's at least offered to buy him a new(er) beat up pickup truck, it'd be a good start...
ReplyDeleteAs I said. She
ReplyDeletewas too long with Klaus. Not caring about anything or anybody but herself.
She desperately
needs a reality check. She got it.
She almost
kills the only person(s) that were nice to her. And then she's shocked that everyone
hates her?
In public? So
ReplyDeletehe can be kicked out of school? Because of a bitch?
I would
wait till we're alone. Then I would put a knife or stake thru her heart. It wouldn't
kill her, of course, but it would hurt. It would be fun.

I'm saying it because I'm a girl and I wouldn't get kicked out for punching her :p
ReplyDeleteShe's already the reason he got his hand broken once. Why go for twice? xD

She buys him a new Ford F-150.

Still … In public?
ReplyDeleteI'd rather handle it a bit more private. No witnesses.
But I don’t deny that the bitch would deserve it.
"But I don’t deny that the bitch would deserve it."
ReplyDeleteAnd poor Matt is the right guy for punishing her...
Much like Damon, in that respect.
ReplyDeleteClaire is freaking hot, and these two are my new fav couple.

ReplyDeleteThey are two different people, obviously. But they both have impulse issues and a proclivity for revenge.
ReplyDelete..rebeca en que estas pensando despues de lo que hicistes matt te lo va a aplaudir eres increuble.que descarada eres
ReplyDeleteI wonder who she will go after since it seems like Matt rejects her and she is alone.
ReplyDeleteI love Mabekah, I think she's alot softer when she's around him (see 3x19)
ReplyDeleteLol, did you guys forget that Matt killed Rebekah's brother, Finn? I guess they're even now

You bet he is! She likes him. Has a soft spot for him.
ReplyDeleteRemember when she and one of her brothers wanted to kill Matt at the dance? She stopped him and saved Matt.
If someone can get under her ice cold skin, he can.
