Seems like it was purely Colton's decision since even Jeff Davis didn't know what the hell was going on last night.
And E! reported it was contract negotiation issues, and he was offered a good deal. And he was still planning on moving out to LA on the 4th, so what changed since then?
Ugh, I'm so angry right now. Jackson was supposed to have a big storyline next season! They should have just killed him off at the end of last season.
MTV is hardly innocent. They wanted him for 12 out of 24 episodes. That's not really a good deal, especially when it means he can't really pursue other things. He's better off booking a pilot and appearing in 16-22 episodes a season, possibly in a lead role. At least that's worth his time.
I also wonder what this means for the others. If they tried to give Colton this deal, did they give Holland and Tyler H. the same deal? I'm assuming Dylan and Crystal will be in 22? Or will they also appear in 12? Or more than 12, less than 22. What about the guy who plays Issac? Is he 12 too?
He's better off booking a pilot that isn't guaranteed to get picked up? He already has a role on a show that is doing pretty well for itself and getting more popular, and he'd be getting paid for those 12 episodes he wouldn't be in anyway.
aww that sucks (he was so pretty to look at. And actually, especially in S2, a good actor) BUT This means green light to my bb Stiles and Lydia.. Just saying
There may have been plans on the drawing board for him to have a big story in season 3 but realistically speaking he really wasn't critical enough to the fabric of the show for his people to make major demands. Practically speaking, from a negotiation stand point Haynes' was in a very risky position. Sounds like the people in the trenches (i.e. Jeff Davis) didn't have much to say about the contractual stuff, it was, as @Thomas says, the suits decision. But from the shows standpoint the worst case scenario was the writers having to come up with a different story (hopefully for existing characters.)
Sorry to see the character go...there was potential for some really interesting story. But I figure whatever the writing staff comes up with will be interesting and fun to watch.
I would just like to point out that I think this will be a good thing for the character Lydia. Everything about her relationship with Jackson was stupid as hell. Even those rare moments when something was suppose to be romantic, like the key thing, didn't feel even slightly romantic. It was one of the worst relationships I've seen in years and I actually wanted to watch the show less whenever they insisted on showing it.
I don't think it works that way. He'd get paid for the 12 episodes he signed up for, not the full 22. Just like the TVD cast, most of them are signed for 16 episodes. That's what they get paid for.
But yes, he is better off looking for a pilot. He's somewhat popular right now. You really don't think every single CW pilot script will end up in his lap? Because I think they will. As long as he chooses wisely, he should be fine. You can usually tell which pilots are going to be hit or miss. He's just got to pick an Arrow, not a Beauty and the Beast.
But MTV isn't looking out for him so I don't see why he should be looking out for them. Neither Colton or MTV are innocent, but Colton's priority is Colton. If they had plans for Jackson, they should of treated him like it. Not say, "How about signing on for two more years, but only 12 episode as season?"
i wanted him to die in the finale, i like his character but felt he should have died bet they wish they chose the other ending now i always feel it cheapens shows when people come back from the dead
And Stiles thinks just because he's nice to her, he deserve her and acts like Lydia owes him a shot just because of it. That's gross. Lydia owes him nothing.
And yes, Jackson did treat Lydia like shit, but she didn't treat him all that great either. And just because they treated EACH OTHER like shit, doesn't mean they didn't care about each other.
Whoa what?! Are we watching the same show? I didn't see Stiles expect anything just because he was nice to her. Now you're just making crap up to support your broken point of view.
Stiles wants a shot with her, but he hasn't done a single thing to make her feel like she owes him for being nice to her.
Are you actually watching the show or just looking at recaps, because what you just said makes no sense whatsoever.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Fucking suits are the worst.

I'm sure they'll find a way to write him out of the story, and leave it open for a potential return.

Yeah, but Lydia will just be shoved with Stiles now and that's even worse that Jackson/Lydia.
ReplyDeleteI disagree!
ReplyDeletethis sucks!
ReplyDeleteGood riddance, he was the only main character I despised and was rooting for him to die in the finale.
ReplyDeleteSomeone who could genuinely care about her is worse than a guy who repeatedly treated her like crap? I need you to walk me through that reasoning.

ReplyDeleteunless jackson leaves with the alpha pack....?
