  1. "Don't Stop Believing" was the only title I really loved and they go and change it;and for what; a childish pun! Incredible!
I won't even comment the other one ; it speaks for itself and it says Yuck!".

  2. I have to agree. The titles are quite out there this season. Though for me, I can overlook it. It's what 8x11 title is hinting at about the episode that I don't like one bit.

  3. like them both just wondering who the heck Tom is?

    ReplyDelete
  4. As long as the ep is good, I don't care what they call it. Wonder who the "real girl" is?

  5. I completely agree. It's the content that is important and I tremble to think at what the minds of these writers have thought up for 8.11.
However even although the titles have no practical importance they do give a first indication of the story.

Take "Don't Stop Believing " and "Tom and Frayed"
The first gives the impression of a spiritual or more serious episode, which I prefer and the new title more of a sillier take on things.
I'd much rather have a dramatic episode with meaningful touches of humour, than a "fun" episode that really means nothing in the end and is filled with cheesy lines.

I want SPN to be a great show and that means good writing and good stories.

Sometimes I think you and I share our brains, lol. I was going to comment exactly this.

  7. Is it Tom and Frayed or Torn and Frayed. Because maybe whoever put it out mistook the rn for an m

  8. Hey! great minds think alike. ;)

  9. Remember Plucky's from last season? Everyone thought the title was horrible, but the episode turned to be great. So, titles don't mean much in my book. They're just there to give the episode a focal point.

  10. Exactly how I feel. I don't like when episodes get too silly. It's the drama/myth-arc stuff I watch over and over.

    ReplyDelete
  11. See in my opinion, it wasn't that great of an episode. The only part I really enjoyed was Sam vs. clowns and Dean laughing at Sam covered in glitter.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Mmm... good point. That would make more sense wouldn't it? I think I'll bet it's T-o-r-n and Frayed. Which would make it a great, serious title.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The murderous unicorn with the rainbow was pretty funny.

    ReplyDelete
  14. That would make far more sense and would be quite appealing, although I do prefer Don't Stop Believing. :)

  15. Yes.
I also think comedy is harder to get right than drama. and some of the weird episodes that the SPN writers dream up do turn out well, but others come out crappy.
For me drama is far more interesting and you can still put in some funny lines to lighten it up without overdoing.

  16. Yeah balance is key with comedy. And it's true that comedy can be hard to get right.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, but it's like slap stick funny like "Ahaha OMG really? A rainbow unicorn? You've got to be kidding me."

It was funny, but I was also rolling my eyes at it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Either would work. Maybe they changed it just because they couldn't use the title/weren't allowed?

    ReplyDelete
  19. That to me was the only funny part of the ep..not one of my favorites by a long shot.

    ReplyDelete
  20. oh gods, please let LARP and the Real Girl be the surprise comeback of Felicia Day!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Nice pun for 11 but the new title for 10 is terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  22. So the real question is, is it T-O-R-N and Frayed or TOM and frayed? Because torn and frayed sounds kind of cool, while Tom and frayed is more 'wtf is that??'. LARP and the Real Girl makes me think we'll see Becky again... uuuugh.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I really hope it is Torn and Frayed rather than Tom and Frayed, but I still which they kept with Don't stop believing. Also if you didn't know Torn and Frayed is a song from the Rolling Stones, so I'm at least glad they kept a classic rock title.

  24. "Don't Stop Believing" had me hoping for some Dean singing. Oh, well...I think LARP and the Real Girl sounds fun :-D

  25. Titles suck worse than last year, and that's a doozie.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm really tired of seeing nerdy/weird girls on the show. Can we just stick to strong female characters? Ellen, Jo and Pamela were badass. Charlie and Becky are just plain stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The most badass girl ever on the show was Bela and most of the fans hate her. Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Charlie was stupid??? Were you watching the same ep I was?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I loved Bela.
I thought she was a great contrast to the Winchesters and she had chemistry with both brothers.
I would have loved for her to have been kept on.
I really felt sorry for her when she was dragged off to Hell. I mean she had a real problem with her father and she sold her soul when she was only fourteen. A bit young to know exactly what she was doing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I hated Bela's accent but I didn't hate the character. My problem with Charlie is that her scenes are a bit too comedic. Don't get me wrong, I love comedy/meta episodes, but "too" funny characters make darker mythology episodes feel like a sit com, which is probably not what they intended. Like someone said, it's all about balance.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree.
Comedy is difficult to do. You don't really know how your audience is going to react for not all of us find the same things funny.

I prefer the more dramatic episodes myself, but when they get a comedy episode spot-on as they did with Changing Channels, then I take my hat off to the writers.
I also have to say that some of the lines that are pitched as being funny don't always come off great either, like all the "Dick" jokes.
Sometimes you can just overdo it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You know the actress who played Bela, Lauren Cohan? That's her real accent lol. Anyways, I had a love/hate with Bela.

    ReplyDelete
  33. She was so good as Rose on The Vampire Diaries and as Maggie on Walking Dead. I did like Bela, thought she was a good match for Sam & Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  34. They didn't change it for a childish pun. "Torn and Frayed" is the seventh song on the Rolling Stones album Exile On Main Street.

    ReplyDelete
  35. On the album Exile on Main Street, which has already come into play.

    ReplyDelete
  36. These are terrible! I'm almost wishing for the season 5 three line titles back. Let's hear it for title changes...again!

  39. nellymendezcolon14 October 2012 at 15:49

..hello..i am agree large tittles confuse me...mm....??????

    ReplyDelete
  40. Me too.
She wasn't the most ethical character on the show but she deserved better than ending up in Hell just because she trusted a demon when she was so young. :(

    ReplyDelete
  41. It means I believe "Live Action Role Playing"
People dress up as characters and act out a story. :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I do know that, I just can't stand it :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I didn't like Charlie, either. But that stems from my dislike of Felicia Day. She always rubs me the wrong way. Personal opinion, thumbs down if you have to. I don't care.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Titles are cool, though irrelevant. When i'm watching an episode of a TV show i'm not thinking, "Man the title for this episode is crap," i'm thinking about the actual freaking show.

LARP and the Real Girl. Hehehe, can't wait for that. It's always funny when Sam and Dean see how God's Supernatural books affect them.

  45. its now confirmed to be charlie(felicia day)
