Supernatural - 8.03 - Heartache - Podcast
21 Oct 2012
Podcast SupernaturalHey guys, we are back with an all new podcast on Supernatural's 8.03 episode, Heartache. In exciting news, we have decided to hold a contest in our attempt to find Castiel fans to guest on episodes with Cas in them. So e-mail your 3 minute video and/or audio files to teamwinchesterpod@gmail.com and Lilith will post them on our YouTube channel. Then people can vote on which they like best. We'd like to get 3-6 people who rotate in, who will sometimes do a new segment called Cas Corner (suggestions for a better name welcome) and other times sit in on the full podcast, depending on the amount Cas is in the episode. We also need 2 Cas fans for the Castiel-centric podcast that will be recorded the first Thursday of winter hiatus.
Speaking of the Cas-centric podcast, we are also looking for fans to contribute to our character specific podcasts, including Bobby, Cas, and Crowley so far. Please send us a short video or audio snippet of why you love the character or your favorite lines/scenes/episodes with that character at teamwinchesterpod@gmail.com. We will include these during that character's podcast.
But enough about future podcasts. In this one, Lilith and I disagree more than in the first two. I tended to like it better because the brothers get a definite win in this one and I felt it was sorely needed. Lilith found it boring in the middle. Both of us agreed there was much anvil dropping and that the brother rift is getting old already. What did you think?
PS - There is a glitch in the podcast from 56:55 - 66:30. The guest stars/least favorite/music/trivia part is in it twice, so just skip that section. Sorry!

Awesome. Thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteThe opinions in this podcast are solely the opinions of Lilith and/or me. They do not reflect the overall opinions of the fandom or SpoilerTV (most of whom don't watch Supernatural anyway). I liked this episode a lot more than Lilith did.
ReplyDeleteOMG, I totally have to add that disclaimer into our podcast. Sorry about the glitch!
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't already found out, I think the police guy was the demon neighbour from "The Rapture"
ReplyDeleteThank you! I knew I had seen him as a demon somewhere. It's been bugging me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for listening.
ReplyDeleteThought it would be best to put it out there right at the beginning. No worries about the glitch. It's easy to fast forward through.
ReplyDeletemishas baby name..MAISON MARIE..very cool
ReplyDeleteJust a few observations about the info I've picked up on the season so far.
ReplyDeleteUnlike season six where there was perhaps an over-abundance of mysteries and plot lines, this season seems flat on both.
X
For example, there's no real mystery about Dean, for it really doesn't matter what happened in Purgatory as we already know he got out safely.
So other than exploring his war-zone relationship with Benny and Castiel, that situation has already been resolved.
X
In a future episode, Sam is going to meet Benny, fine!
The Sam we once knew would probably be worried for his brother, remembering his own mistaken experience in trusting Ruby and I could imagine he would say the self-same things to Dean that Dean had said to him then, but unfortunately the Sam we're getting this season doesn't seem to give crap about Dean, so any brotherly anger that that Sam might pull out will be very hard to believe seeing the way he's acting.
This Sam would probably be quite happy to foster Dean off to Benny and let them have wonderful hunts together so he could keep his new-found normal!
X
Then there's no mystery to the season story arc either.
We know the aim is to close the Gates of Hell; maybe they'll manage or maybe they won't, the fact is that we already know.
X
In my opinion it would have been far more thrilling and suspenseful it we had had these details delivered to us a tit-bit at a time during the episodes.
X
Purgatory would have been far more thrilling in real-time.
The writers wanted to give us the boys' stories individually?
Fine; they could have dedicated the first two episodes to Dean's adventures in trying to get out of Purgatory while at the same time letting us see how Sam went from the laboratory to Amelia.
The way the brothers are presented now, the writers would have been just as well to keep them physically apart too, and concentrated on building up the tension.
X
Then they should have kept quiet about closing the gates of Hell, letting it slip out a little at a time, each tablet giving us a little more info on this end-game.
X
As I said above, getting us to believe that this Sam will be worried about Benny's influence on Dean is just a little hard to take.
X
Finally, I hate to say this as I utterly dislike the Amelia story-line, but the only real true mystery this season up till now, is how Sam finished up with this unsympathetic Amelia person after having had the wonderfully sweet relationship with Jess, who used to bake him cookies and I'm sure might even have presented him with a cute BIRTHDAY CAKE now and then. Buh!
Sam/ Amelia is practically the only thing that we don't yet know anything about.
I think 3 episodes is a bit early to label the enitre season flawed.
ReplyDeleteBTW your posts sound like you don't watch the episodes, I would recommend watching them, picking up info here and there is good, but a shallow substitute for the real thing.
While you're right of course about getting a better idea when one has actually watched the episodes, I still think that one can forge an pertinant opinion from the wealth of reviews, promos, clips etc, that are available on line.
ReplyDeleteThen this is only my viewpoint and has no importance other than that.
X
However for me the season has effectively been flawed by the fact that Sam didn't even try to look for Dean, and if this is explained in later episodes to the betterment of Sam's character, that's great, but if it remains as it has been presented, then the entire season is definitely flawed for me, because it is based on a fact that is completely unbelievable for anyone who has seen the previous seasons.
Sam has explained his reasons not to look for Dean during the past 3 episodes to Dean, but I believe there is more to tell, because Sams body language was a bit strange as if he is hiding something.
ReplyDeleteSame goes for Dean and his time in Purgatory and playing soultrain for Benny.
At this point I believe both brothers hide something big about the past year, and if Carver is to be believed we should get some answers about this during the first 13 episodes of season 8.
As for capturing the audiance' attentenion I believe having Sam not watching for Dean creates more curiosity and discussion about the why then having Sam magically transporting Dean out of purgatory with a ritutal.
