Thanks to Maz for the poll idea.

Sound off in the comments about who think will survive? Do you want a Happy, Sad or Bittersweet ending to the series?

  1. I hope they all survive but I think Walter will sacrifice himself along the way.

I think it will be a bittersweet ending :(

  2. I picked all. I so want a happy ending for all they've been through.

  3. None, because they've been dead all along !

Yeah, I know the way out... ==>

  4. *Somehow I've the feeling that despite Olive survived twice her death she's still "doomed" to die. Don't ask me why but yeah I really do think so because of what September told her "I've seen all possible futures and in each of them you died" . So I think that the rest of the gang is safe... ♥

  5. Deuh not a Lost kind of an end, thank you! ♥

  6. I think Walter will die/disappear. I can also see Olivia being one who does not survive. But as with all things Fringe. We may think and speculate as much as we want, it's always different at the end. It could also be Nina or Broyles that dies.

  7. They have to do the best they can. But for the show, not for me. They have to be faithful to themselves and to their story. This is a great question, anyway. In the last months, my favourite characters have passed through rough times and some of them (Mike from Breaking Bad, Wilson from House M.D., Opie from Sons Of Anarchy) so I'm preparing myself. I choose Walter (just so you guys know).

Yeah, really thinking of it it had to come down to Peter and Etta. Liv has a death looming, Walter has a debt to pay, and Astrids not a bishop. There not gonna kill the daughter and Peter has the most to loose and the most blood in/of the family.

  10. I'm hoping for a happy ending, but realistically, I don't see Walter surviving.

  11. I feel that Peter will sacrifice himself to save Olivia, it would be too straightforward for Olivia to just die like September said, or maybe Walter will. To be honest they're all strong candidates to die, I just don't feel that they're going to go down the 'happy ending' route.

  12. I'm pretty sure Walter will die (as a hero), probably will sacrifice himself for the humanity

  13. Walter will almost certainly die BUT I do think this will really work for the character and the overall arc of the series. He is always seeking redemption for his actions and is a very tragic character. His death though I believe will save the universe(s) and probably be completely heartbreaking yet beautiful.

I think the others are safe, Broyles and Nina might also die.

  14. I expect that Olivia will die. Mr. X will kill her. Walter might die also. I just hope that Etta survives to help build a new world after the Resistance destroys the Observers.

  15. *Forget my previous comment *lalala ignore it*
...another version: Peter will die. Everything { 4 and half seasons} happened all in Olive's brain. She is in the Mental Institution herself and Walter is her shrink, Astrid is a nurse .... O lordy now my own brain starts to spin too. Ye know what? It is Fringe and you never know what you're gonna get anyway soo... yeah an a main character dies anyway that's been said and who?.... Don't dare to guess because I love all of them ... ♥

  16. I can't answer this because I think it could end with different versions of themselves. So even though they might all die (the day we died), I think they could die at the expense of saving themselves...

I think the amber time line itself may be "Bardo" -ethereal plane/flash sideways- (Peter - Tibetan Book of Dead/If you see the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him!) and that he may return to the season1-3 timeline, only to have altered it.

In the immediate sense I think in some original time line Olivia lost her children to Bell and Walter's experiments, she unfairly blamed Peter for not saving them, and then she committed suicide. The original Peter built the machine to save them all...but something happened where it split their universes in before (red) and after (blue) altered states, which various versions of himself could never get back to saving Olivia, let alone having more children and this keeps happening over and over until this last time he got in the machine...

In the immediate sense I expect to see Walter die (LSD foreshadowed this) and Olivia die, as means to save Etta, which is about Olivia getting over what she once did in another timeline. I don't know about Astrid, but I could see her get killed, as she too had a close brush last season.

Peter I think well return to some other time line in the machine...and in the end we will see the red characters again too and change the future finally for the better, a future where man doesn't just keep killing themselves in the name of progress

  17. I can't answer that question....just can't.

  18. Sad as it would make me, my bet is on Walter dying. Olivia's already died (twice) and Peter's been erased out of existence. Quite frankly, it's Walter's turn. And, as other people have said, it would be a fitting end to his arc of trying to redeem himself for starting this whole mess in the first place (not judging, just saying). So if anyone's going to die (and I very much hope they don't), I would have to say Walter.

  19. This is the second time I've looked at this site. It's hard to make a prediction. I'd definitely prefer if they all survived. However with Fringe that may well not happen. Think I'll just have to wait and see what takes place.

    ReplyDelete
  20. As much as I don't want it to happen, I think Walter is the strongest possibility. He's not on the list but I also think Broyles may not make it either.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Everyone but Walter, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  22. In order of likelihood: Astrid, Peter, and Etta. I hate it but I really believe Walter will die, as a hero most probably. I also have a bad feeling that Olivia will die, don't want her to, but I just have this feeling. I don't see any reason to kill off Astrid. I can see a possibility of Etta being killed toward the end, but I don't think it will happen. Peter will live. I don't know why I think Peter will live but I just believe he will.

  23. Walter will definitely die, Id be disappointed if he survived. The man has earned a heroes death and some long deserved rest. As a father he should no longer have to live in fear of outliving his son or grand daughter.

Peter and/or Olivia could also die. I wouldn't mind if all three core characters die, so long as Etta lives. Astrid must also live. I want her to live to be a keeper of the tale.

  24. Walter will go. Fits the story, a moment of pure heroism, making up for all the damage he's caused.

The rest will live, but if I had to choose someone else I'd choose Astrid for a pre-finale death

  25. I feel like we need a none of them button.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't know who I THINK will survive. If anything, I can vote who I'd HOPE will still be alive. I vote: ALL. ;)

Seriously though, if they want to go the Armageddon route, the showrunners can kill off everyone in the final episodes, in hopes of resetting the timeline so that Observers never existed or something. Then, before the very last episode ends, show a happier, reset timeline, with a brighter future for our gang.

  27. I agree with your comment. From interviews hinting at Walter possibly dying to atone for his past sins, to Alt-Broyles already dead from a hero's death, I'd assume the two likeliest to die by the end to be Walter and Broyles. I really hope not though, especially Walter.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I had the same thoughts. I'm hoping somehow Walter survives though. This reminds me of Alias' ending, with daddy Bristow dying a hero's death. It was sad and sucky, and I'd hate to go through that with Walter. Also, I liked how you phrased the sentence with the "not judging, just saying" part. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Agreed. Could be any number of scenarios we'd imagine. I think that Walter, Broyles, and Nina are the strongest candidates for heroes' deaths though.

  30. Fringe has to end with a ending leaving all its fans satified on how it ended...death or no death, a great show like this deserves to end with the satification of its fans...☺....

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah, I hate the dad dying thing, too, especially when that dad is Walter, but if anyone's going to die, I want the best possible death - aka, the one that makes the most sense, has the best reasons behind it, works with the story and has an emotional impact. Any other death is going to feel like a bit of a cop out or a retread, where Walter's would fit most naturally in the story Fringe has been telling these last five seasons.

Ha, yup, I try not judge my fictional characters; also, I didn't want any Fringe fans getting the idea I don't love our Walter because I do, and because angry internet fans scare me a little.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Agreed. Since it's Fringe, I'd assume they'd go with the death that has most impact and makes most sense, in terms of story. It'll be a tearjerker for sure.

Yeah, I totally hear ya on the 'angry internet fans' thing. Some are drinkin' some serious crazy juice there. Certifiable. ;)
