  1. I wonder who'll die next week...? I just have to say that the promo last week for this episode spoiled the episode. I knew about Miles being the General for the militia, and the so called reveal was not too shocking. I know who might die next week...My viewership of this show. I want to give it at least half a season, but I usually know by the 4th ep of most shows whether or not I'll keep watching. This show is quickly becoming tiresome to me.

Like it or not this is my opinion, and just know you cannot change it. Only the show can.

    Commence the hate and downvotes.

  2. Still Great! And inching closer to Awesome every week!

Besides, any show with Mark Pelligrino, a mention of One Life to Live, and TWO EPIC Stephen King nods cannot be bad. I mean, come on! Stu and Franny!!!

In all seriousness, I'm really digging the uneasy vibe that's growing between Miles and Charlie (I still really like her!), and my heart broke a lot in the final scene. All I could imagine was how absolutely full my heart would feel at hearing recorded music again (especially Marvin Gaye!), and then Maggie's picture on her phone. Ugh.

After this week I am definitely in for the long haul with this show.

My only gripe is the brother was still looking a little too Ambercrombie...but that was resolved by the end of the ep.

  3. I cannot believe they wanted the Miles was a founding member of the Monroe Militia to be a shocking reveal did they?

Aside from putting it in the promo, it was just so obvious!! The man's best friend started everything I just assumed that Miles was with him until he finally did or saw something so bad he had to leave. *shrug*Maybe just me and the way my mind works.

  4. More Stephen King The Stand references.... Stu Redman and Frannie.

Okay so did he rally just ramble on about the rarity of proper bullets and then waste one on a helpless and broken rebel that was restrained? Sad.... and not very thrifty either!

    Never disrespect your father?
I literally had to get up and walk away from the TV and stopped watching for a while after that line! Wow bad.

Don't talk to me that way?
Well if she acts like a petulant child she just may get spoken to like a petulant child.

The dialog is still just soooo bad it is hard to move past, and it still strikes me as very odd that everyone has clothes that fit them perfectly 15 years after the apocalypse. Everything just seems so pedestrian..... I could handle one bad actress if the writing was better all around, but there are so few above average aspects of this show to balance out the below average.....

The good news is I'm done watching and commenting on the show, the bad news is that I'm not sure how long the show will be around for those that like the series. For the sake of the people that actually like Revolution I hope the numbers do not drop too much more....

  5. I liked it! Very much and i can't wait for next week!
I'm officially in! Loved the end
Wonder where we're going from here!

  6. I have to agree with you, as I usually cut a show by the 3rd ep, but with the pedigree behind the camera and most of the cast in front, I really want to like this show but instead of the interest growing from ep to ep, I'm losing it. I wasn't crazy about the writing tonight and try as I might to find something to like about the Charlie character, it's not happening for me. I did like some bits: the reveal that Miles saved the Jeremy character, I'm not surprised that he was a founder of the Militia (I suspect that he did start it with the ideals to keep the peace/order but Monroe somehow corrupted it and Miles left). I will give the show one more ep as the previews might give us something as the group comes together again, I'll see if there is anything to hold me for longer, but at this point I'm not all that hopeful and might have to cut this show loose....

  7. lol "aside from putting it in the promo" I'm sorry that just made me laugh.

Another great episode! I'm still really enjoying it, and I'm looking forward to more =]

  9. Little better but not much, Mark Pellegrino made it better for me I think. And I, like many of the previous commentors, were not surprised by the "shocking reveal" mainly because they showed it to us in the promo.

I want to like the show but it isn't making it easy. It has until episode 5 to get me or I'm dropping it.

  10. It made me laugh when I saw they put it in the preview! XD
Seemed like such an odd choice to preview it and then build up all the drama and music like it was some twist reveal.

They did the same thing with Rachel Matheson being alive... I think we all expected it, but the music was amped up and it seemed like they attempted to make it some big twist. It's only been a few episodes, but none of-their big moments grabbed me like the twists in previous JJ Abrams projects.

  11. I thought this episode was a great improvement. The dialogue went smoother. The contradictions clearer, and the acting way more natural. Charlie too is getting a more distinct voice. It's becoming clear to me now that that she is also a lost soul and she just needs to find the right path to apply herself with.

My review is probably going to be tomorrow. (I have a ton to do today) and this episode was packed full of references!

Mark Pelligrino's Jeremy was a great treat. Like the twist with him.

  12. The only thing I can say though is that they may look like bigger twists down the road depending on who these people turn out to be. Like they made a point of Miles not understanding how the world could turn to this murderious crimes so quickly...it almost implies a pre-planned terrorist attack. That's why even though Miles (almost like Charlie) just suddenly decides to be a man of justice...but the double wammy could be that Miles didn't know who and what he was protecting, that might be why he becomes a traitor and is so down and out....and why he is fighting so hard with Charlie, because he sees all the mistakes he made in her.

  13. I didn't watch it closely so I didn't know. But I do no who is suppose to die. And it makes sense given she seems to be genuine in contrast to someone else in comparison to a character on Lost.

  14. I love this show. It was a great episode. Mark Pelligrino does callous disinterest so very well. I'm glad they didn't kill him. I honestly like every character (well not Elizabeth Mitchell, but that's not the character that's the concerned pout she does at the end of every sentence, maybe this character will grow on me eventually). So often you get to a flashback or a B-plot and you get bored, but I adore Aaron and Maggie, I'm even intrigued with Monroe.

I don't think Miles founding the militia was supposed to be a surprise, it was pretty obvious from the first scene in the car, it worked with the story, they had to know each other or there would be just too many degrees of separation, but they also knew it wasn't gonna surprise anyone. That's why Miles was so wry with the telling and there wasn't any suspenseful music and why they put it in the promos. That's why it was a mild twist that he started things going in that direction with being so ruthless and Monroe didn't want to be involved. I agree that they are facing a difficult road having the audience surrogate in Charlie be naive. But she has to be, she is the moral center. They aren't treating the audience as though they are dumb, they know that we expect certain stories to fall a certain way, I groaned when Nora was a little flirty with the militia dude, but they hit it head on and switched it, and I appreciate both following the rules and keeping me on my toes.

I thought the writing was funny. I feel like they've done a great job slowly fleshing out character. You know Maggie and Aaron even though they've had little to say and almost no backstory. After watching OUAT yesterday, where even the villain was giving melodramatic speeches about how killing was wrong, I liked Charlie so so much. There is just so much potential. I want to see where they go.

  16. I'm sorry, but the bullet thing: It was an interrogation technique to break the guy down with fear and anticipation and make him realize that his life meant less to Jeremy than a bullet did. It gave him the slight hope that maybe they wouldn't waste a bullet on him which would operate as incentive to give up the rebel's location. It was a value statement. Jeremy shot him in the end because it was more important to not leave survivors and to show that he had control over the russian roulette game all along. The idea that Jeremy would kill a helpless, restrained man showed him to be ruthless in his methods kinda like Miles wanted to be in the train yard, but Charlie stopped him.

  17. Agree! Agree!!!!!!

  18. So a few things I did like, always great to see Mark Pelligrino being a baddie and I liked his connection with Miles even if the whole Miles being part of the Monroe army was so predictable.

I am also enjoying the Aaron/Maggie stuff (which of course means one of them will die next week) it was great when they got electricity back for those few moments, Aaron's reaction to the music and Maggie getting to see her kids photos again was a nice little character moment for them both.

However, the show still has a major problem in fact several mostly to do with Miss Mary Sue Charlie. Lets take a look at Charlie shall we, young lady in her early 20s stuck in a shitty future with no parents and a bit of a rebel, who does this remind you of? Fringe fans will recognise this character and situation in the form of one Etta Bishop. The biggest difference is, Georgia Haig can act and made her presence felt so quickly and gave the character layers in those 42 mins we first saw her in 'Letters'. She was a badass, clever, resourceful and the emotional stuff just worked so well. Tracy can not act. I know I keep saying it every week but its getting embarrassing to watch now, everyone else clearly out acts her in every scene. This wouldn't be a problem if she wasn't the focus of the show but she is and it is dragging everything else down with it.

  19. YES! (Can I like this 10 times?!) Thank you for that! --There are all of these REALLY complicated parallels between these characters and you found another one and nailed it on the head! I don't think a lot of fans are seeing that yet. Which is why I think it's funny that everyone is down on Charlie, calling her cliche', but no one is criticizing Miles. IMO the flashback shows that Miles thought he knew people, but made all the wrong decisions (and maybe he's still making them?), he protected all the wrong people and didn't know he was helping a monster (Monroe). That's why he keeps beating up Charlie, because he sees the mistakes he made in her and is afraid she will get 'lost' too! I mean seriously he's just as contradictory as she is. First he condemns her for caring about "family" and what it means, then he turns around and tells her to respect her father! They're just a lot alike, except I think Charlie has some element of fate if she can just find 'the right road' to apply herslef to!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Besides that, Etta is cute and doesn't feel the need to prove herself all the fricking time. The way Charlie acts, I just want to see her fail. And it makes me hate her even more when she doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Etta is a little more like Emma Swan. But Charlie is more like Kate Austen and Sydney Bristow, but with out the experience to know where she belongs, which is a lot like Uncle Miles as well, as they both are behaving contradictory to each other about many things. In fact Miles should be held more accountable for his contradictions than she should, since he does have experience.

  22. OMG...this show is getting Better and Better every week.....cause they keep bringing back all the Great Lost cast.....now we have Jacob back...WOW.....and with Juliet now alive...who's next?.... we gotta see Sawyer next....i hope he's working with Monroe so Sawyer can get back with Juliet...Ahhhh...that should be so sweet....a girl can only dream, lol.....☺.....

  23. Awesome episode. I really like it.

  24. I thought it was the best episode yet. The beggining was a bit slow but once it picked up it was really good. I am enjoying Billy Burke and his Miles performance very much. And I did not see the Jeremy being saven by Miles twist at the end. I am looking forward to see more times with Miles and Monroe in charge of the milita. Also liked the scene with the power back on for a few moments and I also liked to see Danny kicked that guy's ass. Very good episode, the show is getting betteer ;)

  25. There are things about Revolution that do work. It's a great premise, intriguing set up and a couple of the actors/characters are engaging. Sadly though there are a few things that don't work; cliched dialogue, ridiculous plot holes and a leading character that is just plain irritating. I have watched all 3 episodes so far, but I am unlikely to watch too many more unless things improve.

    ReplyDelete
  26. For the sake of balance, I feel I should point out that I was oblivious to the fact that Miles was a founder of the militia (I hadn't seen the promo, and didn't guess it anyway) until it was revealed. And I really liked the flashback of him and Sebastien saving Jacob(?) from those big guys. It's nice that we're getting this kind of background information in the first few episodes rather than it being delayed in the guise of a 'mystery' for an entire season.

I still thought it was quite a weak episode and the acting is still sub-par, to put it kindly, but on that particular point, I thought it was worth sticking up for them (but yeah, putting it in the promo was a dumb idea).

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm not sure what it is about this show. I

feel like I should like it despite its

flaws, and there are many. But watching

this episode was actually a chore. The idea

is delicious and they have created a world

that I really dig, the future setting, the

    militia, the rebels. Visually beautiful

sets, some very good action scenes,

    swordfights (though tonights were quite

dodgily edited), and explosions. On first

glance it has all the elements of a cracking

show, and some mystery to boot, regarding

Grace and the weird electric necklaces. I

    should be lapping this up.

So why, then, has watching Revolution become

a chore? The acting is frankly rubbish, especially among the women. I sometimes wonder how they even got past the audition stage. And even when the acting is not to blame, the dialogue written for them is just so cliched and generic, I reckon even I could have written it, and I'm know I'm a crap writer.

My cynical brain always manages to find one or two 'little niggles' in any episode of any show, even those I vote as 'awesome', but this show just has too many niggles, be they plot-holes or bad peices of writing/acting, or things that make me genuinely angry.

For example, Nora risks her life on a special mission to get hold of the rifle and a bag full of ammo... conveniently bumps into old flame Miles, together they take the rifle back to base, which is swiftly attacked by Jeremy and co. They now conveniently have a rifle to pic off some of his men, and then run out of ammo, rendering it a rather pointless prop, which I assume they will have to dump or go on another life-threatening mission to find more ammo. Just all seems a bit convenient and does little to drive the story forward other than to introduce Nora.

Anyway, that's my few cents. I really want this show to get better because they have created a potentially awesome universe to play around with, and I just hope they don't waste the chance to do something epic with it.
