  1. I don't know what to think. I loved some parts, but I' gonna say "boring". It wasn't a bad episode, just not good as the previous

    ReplyDelete
  2. It was good, but I really missed Emma and Snow.

Wow at Belle's father. And she was so cute with her love of food.

    ReplyDelete
  3. It was okay,I found it boring but that's only because it was focused on characters I don't like (apart from the gorgeous Hook!).

    ReplyDelete
  4. wow no emma,snow,or regina.
This Is truely the lost of fairly tales.
Ruby looked smocking hot.Last season I thught she looked best as red in FTL.She Is bringing some of that to ruby this season.
I like Belle In mor emodern clothes. As a lost fan nice to see Emilie de raven In nice clothers.
    Hook and cora working together.

  5. I missed Emma and Snow also. I wanted them to go to them at least at the end of the episode. As soon as I saw Cora I was like "crap they're screwed!" I'm guessing from the promotional pictures from the next episode that no one trusts Hook seeing as he's tied to a tree. I still hope that there will be moments between Emma and Hook. In this episode, I was kind of yelling at Rumple for deceiving Belle. It was a good episode I just wanted to see Emma and Snow.

  6. Words can't express how cool I think it is that they made Rumpelstiltskin the crocodile... I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. I think they handled the story of Captain Hook really well in general.

I also really enjoyed that last exchange between Belle and Rumpel. He finally opened up, which allows for a small amount of trust, and opened the lines of communication. And he admitted to using magic as a crutch, which was a huge development. And Belle taking over the library pretty much made the entire episode.

I also didn't miss Emma, Snow, and Regina as much as everyone else seemed to. I mean, I felt their loss for sure, but I'm invested enough in other characters' stories to not mind as much if those three aren't at the center. I'm sure they'll be back full force next week.

  7. I agree there is so much more than just Regina, snow and Emma,if it only about the three of them it would get old really fast, and there wouldn't be a third season.

  8. Love the episode...but miss Snow, Emma and Regina...

  9. That was an awesome episode, I loved the development with Rumpelstiltskin in SB, especially with how it compared to how dark he became in FTL. He does seem like he sincerely doesn't want to be this monster he knows he is... and I am SO frigging pleased he finally told Belle about Bae. My money's on Bae being Peter Pan, to be honest. Also I'm really glad they gave Belle the backbone they did in this episode because now we're seeing her as she was pre-abduction by Regina. So totally loved the Belle and Ruby friendship too, that was really awesome to see.

  10. I loved Belle taking over the library! Such an iconic thing for the character, and I'm glad it eventually happened.

I didn't miss Snow, Emma or Regina either, but I felt it was okay because they didn't advance any of the pivotal plots with this episode anyway. I like when they give some screen time to the lesser characters, as then it makes the plot-advancing episodes even better.

  11. it was a good espidode ! i got bored in a couple of scenes ( Belle and Rumple's) but the Captain Hook storyline was excellent!

I missed Regina! she wasn't around very much in the last episode as well! so i'm hoping next week we'll be able to see more of her!
i'm so looking forward to see more of Hook... and i'm liking that we're seeing a lot of Red.

    Where is August?

  12. If the show lose their main characters........I can't imagine a show with episodes without their main characters. I understand it has to be new actors, but ignoring the old ones? ignoring who did the show so famous? Sorry, but no.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I agree with you. I actually didn't even notice that Regina wasn't in it until the promo till next week, I was too focused on what was happening with Rumple and his wife and of course Belle.

    ReplyDelete
  14. i get where you are going with this. I felt Regina's absence, and that's because she's my favourite character. But it's not like they are doing episodes like this for the rest of the season.
They needed to show Hook's story somehow, and to be honest neither Emma, nor Snow nor Regina had anything to do with his storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I, of course, loved all the Rumbelle. Rumple giving her the library is such a great moment, and he was finally honest. And Belle's cute thing about food coming back around and figuring into that little olive branch of hers - gah. So cute.

As for everything else - I like Hook and I'm interested to see where that Cora/Hook team up goes. I also missed Emma, Snow and Regina, but apparently not as much as everyone else did. Finally, I'm curious as to how Rumple will solve the problem of the new curse, and if him finally having the same goal as the rest of the town (not to mention a bit of goodwill ambassador in Belle) will have him working with the other characters more often than against them from here on out.

  16. Not awesomely exciting but nice in a simple way. Belle's father is a dick. Poor past Rumple. Belle as a librarian makes sense and I still hope Rumple becomes better for Belle.

Oh, and Emilie de Ravin was looking "rapturously beautiful" (as Charlie Pace would say) tonight. I dig the brunette hair (brunette > blonde in general), and those beautiful blue eyes. Sorry... I'm just going to stop now.

  17. Loved it! Even though I thought that it was too easy to make Rumpy the figurative crocodile or the bad guy to any fairy tale, I liked how they did it and applied it to this great backstory of Rumple and forwarded the character of Belle. I definitely love Belle discovering food and the opportunity to see her in nice street clothes and Ruby in leather pants... big win for me.. lol

    ReplyDelete
  18. LOVED it! Belle looking through into the library, wow, she is gorgeous. I figured Rumple was the crocodile as I had noted previously he looks like one so it made sense. Still think Whale is Peter but we shall see.

    Great episode.

Eh Rumple, you are honest-er than before and at least you ARE showing some regret now, but its still because of consequences, not because of concept, like Regina. You still have a long way to go, but its nice to see you for the first time, actually willing to do that.

Hook is obviously a revenge-driven type of character. There's a certain sense of parallels with Rumple taking Hook's love and Regina taking Emma's and I would not be surprised on if Hook would become Emma's love interest, which would create lots of delicious conflict for both Emma and Hook in terms of their allegiances.

  20. Did anybody else catch the possible "Narnia" connection. "the remains of a magical wardrobe that can cross between realms"

    Hmmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  21. This ep was so perfect,it makes my heart hurt. It's definitely one of the top 5 of season 1 and 2 of the show and probably one of the best of all shows!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I loved this episode. Belle claiming her independence was nice to see. Loved that Rumpie is the crocodile. So far this season has been a lot tighter and better written and I'm just completely jazzed.

One technical issue...the green screen has never distracted me from the drama as strongly as it did tonight. What was up?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I didn't miss Emma, Snow or Regina at all. If this were a 8 or 13 episode series I think I would but they've got a large canvas of characters and I think it gives them some room to explore other characters tales without feeling like they're forcing some characters into an episode simple because their contract calls for it. This was a story about Rumplestiltskin and I'm glad they stuck to it. Next weeks looks to be a Reginia story.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hmm, my thought was that Bae is the guy we saw in the opening of the season premiere. I guess I figured Rumple was right when he said that he'd figured out that Bae had been sent to our world.

I agree with you completely about Rumple's development in this episode.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I LOVED it. Fav episode of the season so far. I didn't mind Emma, Snow, and Lana missing, because it was a great episode.

Loved all the Hook and Rumple interaction.

Loved Belle being independent, telling both her father and Rumple off, and wanting to work at the library.

Red and Belle were great together, hope to see more of this friendship.

The library scene at the end was amazing, Finally Rumple was honest with Belle. I think it's better this way, them not being together and taking things slow.

Can't wait until Cora and Hook get to SB. Showdown!

  26. I noticed Regina wasn't in the episode but I completely forgot about Emma and Snow until you mentioned it!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I also think this was the best episode to date

    ReplyDelete
  28. It was excellent the flashbacks to Rumpel unable to get his wife back to the point as the dark one killed here by removing her heart. I loved the advice he got from Charming.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Emma might fall for Hook but doubtful. She still can determine if someone is lying to her.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Rumpel will not solve it but I figure Bae will. Since only people from the outside of Storybrooke can break any curse.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Nice, Rumple is great, blah blah blah, but either I get some Regina next week or I'm going full withdraw mode.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Started off slow but quickly became very interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I missed Snow, i'm looking forward to when Snow and Emma returns to Storybrooke!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Come on.. Regina will have her storyline in the next episode... that's why she wasn't in Episode 4. :D or Emma and Snow...

    ReplyDelete
  35. As usual loved it I think this could be my fave episode of S2 so far purely for the FTL scenes oh and Josh Dallas in the mine! DAMN!!.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Good episode. I loved hook (even though he's meant to be the bad guy) hopefully we can get to see some of Nederland. I want to know more about the other worlds, like wonderland too.
Didn't even notice that we didn't see ragina, snow or Emma.
There seem to be a lot of Australians in this episode?! Wonder what's with the Aussie theme (being one myself)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Captain Hook is such a great addition to the cast! Great episode....as it is always good to watch Robert Carylse do Rumple!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Great episode! But damn I miss Regina Emma and Snow these tree are my favorite characters so.... The FTL scene (past and present!) were absolutly amazing! Hook was great :) I can't wait for him to meet Snow and Emma ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Agreed. Hook is now a series regular too, so we need to establish his relationships with other in order to have all of the current stories move forward. In fact I thought it was nice that they decided not to make him this "huge" mystery and to just get straight to it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I liked all the of the introductory stuff....From Bell having access to books (maybe like "ancient books with sacred texts?!) and of course clarifying the situation with Rumples wife and introducing us to Killian Jones (Hook) mad for fun, controversial, and moving episode for Rumple/Gold!

I also liked that there little elements of POTC woven in. (Keep to the code!) Even Killian's last name may play to Davy Jones Locker, Rumble's kinetic abilities are reminiscent to POTC's version of Black Beard, and Rumple's wife not staying true and being dishonest is very Angelica. (And if Emma meets him, there is no way that I won't think of "Elizabeth Swann"...) It also makes a good segway to more sirens and/or mermaids!

It was sad not to see Regina, but next weeks episode looks SO good! I'm sure it will make up for the loss. (Oh and a very dashing looking Dr. Whale and more crazy Jefferson! Yes please!)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Great episode. Only issue I had is I did not warm to Hook at all (and I love a good villain as much as the next girl), I seem to be in the minority there though. :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Just testing, please ignore.

  43. When the writers brought Snow and Emma to another land, I was worried about how they would divide the screentime between the three settings, but this episode proved to me that it could work! Although they couldn't write any scene with Regina, and Snow and Emma, but the episode was wholesome enough. So, I am satisfied with this episode.

This episode was great! Hook was terrific. This episode made me want to see the backstory of Peter Pan and Jack so badly! So, I guess Peter Pan came later because Peter Pan came when Hook was already Hook. And my theory that Jack came earlier than the time in the episode is based on the implication that there's no magic bean left. Jack holding to one of the beans means that it must be a time when there were still an ample amount of magic beans around right?

This is the first episode that Ruby actually got more screentime than the other three main women altogether and I'm not complaining, her interaction with Belle was heartwarming. And how we were reminded of Ruby's true self (a wolf) was refreshing, and I can't wait for her episode later because of that.

    Great episode!

I thought it was awesome they did a great job with Captain Hook and now that he's a main character maybe they can explore peter pan and neverland sometime lol. I thought Chris Gauthier would be smee lol. Great story with Rumple and his wife i love robert carlyle episodes they are great he always does a great job. Storybrooke story with belle and charming and ruby and gold were good. I liked the flashback story with hook and rumple the best tho. The effects and fighting were good except during the fight between hook and rumple it was easy to tell it was green screen more than usual and i dont think the fight was as good as rumple vs charming but ok. Collin who plays hook is great just needs to work on his sword fighting lol.
O and Hook teaming up with Cora in the Enchanted Forest trying to get to storybrooke to destroy Regina and Rumple is great lol and with emma and snow in the EF with them it makes it even more awesome!

u know its weird emma is the main person but not really this season and with her and snow and regina gone i was fine because we got ROBERT CARLYLE/RUMPLE/GOLD as our lead. He's my favorite on the show is performances and characters are excellent and i always love his episodes. By all means writers keep writing more rumple episodes although i think their running out of his backstory to tell lol.

Which would make a brilliant dynamic between them - snarky "badboy" Hook and untrusting suspicious Emma. Its the total opposite of August/Emma, sort of spuffy to August's bangel.

    ReplyDelete
  47. For me Hook was only ok...but RUMPEL WAS AMAZING.
Why should I like Hook? I think stupid when someone loves the character just because he is HOT!...UghI still prefer my old characters Charming and Rumpel...They will always be my favorite Prince and My Favorite Villain

    ReplyDelete
  48. Loved it, can't wait for next week
I haven't seen Peter Pan in a REALLY long time, could anyone tell me who Smee is?

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love they had the balls to go an episode without most of the main characters (Snow, Emma, Henry, Regina). It's something that doesn't happen very often on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Whale is Dr. Frankenstein!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Actually he did once he gave the key to the library to Ruby and had the honest conversation in that library. It was following Charming's suggestions to the T!

    ReplyDelete
  52. For me, it was the juxtaposition with the actual location shots for Hook's boat and the beach at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Agreed. I loved the Captain Hook scenes as well and Belle and Rumple bored the heck out of me. I just can't feel the chemistry between them. It feels awkward to me.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Not bad.
    - I don't have much sympathy for Gold's ex-wife. She didn't deserve murder but she abandoned her kid so screw her.
    - It's nice to see Belle integrating into Storybrooke fairly well.
    - Apparently, Storybrooke is the wild west and whomever picks up the badge is the de facto sheriff. What's worse is no one seems to question it... yet.
    - Hook was alright. Nothing special though. I'm already dreading any possible romantic link between this guy and Emma.
    - Belle was right to give her dad the boot after what he did. You don't protect someone you love by stripping them of their identity. That was really messed up.
    - While I liked the role Red played in this episode, I'm anxious to see her kick some ass.
    - Strangely enough, I didn't mind Rumpelstiltskin having Smee tied up in his basement. That guy is an unscrupulous little weasel.
    - No Regina, no Snow, and No Emma? I was fine with it but the show shouldn't make it a habit. For storytelling purposes, especially with their ever-expanding cast, it makes sense to divvy up the episodes this way.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think the Cpt. Hook vs. Rumplestilskin arc is going to be here for a while. Especially since Hook is made a series regular. I'm really excited for their next encounter. Whether in Storybrooke (Hook gets back with Emma & MM) or Fairy Tail Land (Storybrooke characters go back to their land instead of bringing Emma & co. back. Would be a nice twist) Maybe he'll kidnap Baelfire..

    ReplyDelete
  56. That is applaudable, but it quickly turned to disappointment when he secretly kidnapped William.

    ReplyDelete
  57. It's fine, beauty is subjective, so it's perfectly normal to not find him hot. But for me, he's both hot and terrific actor.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ya! XD They have always referred to the enchanted tree that Emma and Pinocchio as " a magical wardrobe" -def has to be a Narnia reference...which I think in some ways extends itself, as for some reason the Land without Magic knows of some of these tales (;

    ReplyDelete
  59. I feel Elizabeth Swan coming on...

Emma: I'm not entirely sure that I've had enough rum to allow that kind of talk.

Killian Jones: Why's the rum gone?!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I just feel the same way. I like Rumple very much, Belle as well but in separate ways, not together. And certainly i don't quite enjoy centric Rumple-Belle episodes tbh...
But hey, next week is all Regina. So i'm all for it!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I missed Emma and Snow too, dnt they are going to be in the next ep as it seems to center around Regina

    ReplyDelete
  62. Episode was good because it didn't have "meant to be smart but actually really dumb" Emma, or "duller than dishwater" Mary Margaret (her alter ego is slightly better)

    ReplyDelete
  63. The episode was very good but it wasn't one of my personal favorites. I just find the character of Rumpel hard to root for. His episodes are very strong, but they are a bit too "isolated" from the other characters. I don't know how to describe it. I love what he brigns to the show, but he is not one of my favorite characters. I prefer Regina by a mile. The episode was still very good though and I appreciated his story a lot (although, strictly speaking in terms of his character, it didn't really add much to him). I looooved the introdiction of Hook and especially neverland, i want a peter pan centric now! Also, the ending was amazing with cora and hook. I also liked seeing more of belle and liked her being friends with ruby. So cool to have them hang out. Speaking of ruby, love that she used her wolf sent! Also, i am loving that they put charming front and center this season. But too little regina for my taste!
