I am in no way a fan of country music, but I loved Connie Britton's character and thought Hayden P. did a great job as a young, manipulative b!tch. Nashville was a very good premiere and although I believe it will be more of a soap opera-like drama with people hopping in and out of bed with each other, I'm intrigued enough to give it a chance.
Yeah, because that's totally a comparison that makes sense. The only thing they have in common is the presence of music and...nope that's pretty much it. ;)
I actually REALLY enjoyed it. I gave it a chance as an afterthought after Supernatural, and I'm incredibly glad that I did. Connie Britton was absolutely flawless as always, and Hayden P (not even going to attempt to spell it...) set herself up as someone I'm going to love to hate. The good music doesn't hurt, either.
Solid opener, but the editing kinda annoyed me a bit as it seemed to jump from scene to scene almost too rapidly, but I get that with pilot eps as they are trying to introduce and set up characters and interactions quickly sometimes. I was pretty impressed knowing that the stars apparently did their own singing (I even read that the girls playing Rayna's daughters are sisters who were found off of youtube or something like that), and the acting was pretty good. Connie B was great and Hayden P played the damaged, entitled sexpot ingenue well. Still not sure if it's a show that I will look forward to every week, but I'll give it a couple more eps to make my must watch list or not.
I loved the Pilot Connie was just the stand out in this episode she's just brilliant and I love her voice. Hayden was great too she can play a decent bitch and a likabile one. Such a good show!
I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about this one....boy was I wrong. If this episode is any indication of what's to come, then this one is already standing out in a fall of terrible pilots. This All About Eve type of show has a lot going for it: juicy drama, family and political developments and enough twist to keep you watching. It's a good story rounded by some great talent behind and onscreen. There's definitely a lot of different dynamics to keep everyone happy, it shows overall a lot of promise and could definitely turn out to be the next hit of the season.
I wasnt blow away with it, but I enjoyed it enough to keep on watching. The second half was much much better than the first one. May be the fact that we had already seen the first half in all the promos, but the second alpha got much juicier, liked it much better. They certainly have a number of characters to develop. Loved the connection between Rayna and her musician. And Hayden Panetiere is perfect at doing this, she surprised me a lot. Lets see what comes next.
although i'm not a musical series fan, i watched the first episode for Connie Britton's sake and i was completely hooked, may be the best new series this fall if they keep up this level. my only fear is that they turn it into a soap opera.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I liked the show, but I was undecided on it until about ten minutes before the end. It's pretty good!
ReplyDeleteThat duet with Gunnar and Scarlett gave me goosebumps.
ReplyDeleteI really liked it a lot, so far so good! Much better then Glee.
ReplyDeleteI'm hooked. Can't wait for next week already!
ReplyDeleteSuch an awesome show, I cannot wait for next week!

ReplyDeleteAt the beginning I was bored but by the end I was hooked. Be interesting to see how the show goes on.
ReplyDeleteI watched the first, couldn't watch it after that I got bored - does get better in the second half?
