  1. Awesome!
So many emotions! I love how many things changed in Camelot. We have a queen, who's not only good, but also smart and actually has pretty great plans;)
Also, I love how Arthur as a king still goes on every mission and cares about every knight in his kingdom. And I just love how he managed to escape with Merlin and THE JUMP! Nice!
    Merlin&Arthur are so great together!
Morgana, on the other hand, has completely lost it! I don't know who prisoned her, but she clearly blames Arthur for it and hates him more than ever. I was really scared of just how much she wanted to hurt him and how close she was.
And then there's Mordred. I like him. I mean, so far. Knowing what he's destined to do, it just breaks my heart. But what's interesting about him is how hard it is to read him. I actually believed he likes Arthur. And him stabbing Morgana was a complete shock for me.
I expected him to be... I don't know, more on her side? Not sure really.
But I like that he's much more compelling character than I thought. And now, it's Sir Mordred to you;)
Overall, absolutely brilliant episode with very sad prophecy at the end. It looks like Arthur's faith in people, in their kindness and good inside is what's really his bane. Poor King! I'm really scared Merlin won't be able to save him this time.

NEXT WEEK: Return of the dead. Mainly Uther. Can't wait to see Anthony Head again!

  4. Agree with pretty much everything :)

I must add I felt bad for poor Merlin at the end^^; When Mordred and Arthur appeared in front of the knights I was waiting for one, especially Gwaine, to ask where was merlin^^;;Or I was expecting them to show up before Merlin had time to ask a question^^;;...did they almost leave without Merlin?

  5. I'm sure Arthur remembered about him;)

  6. ;) You need to write me that fanfic

xD i'm just so not proud of Gwaine
(;P of course I'm not taking this stuff seriously, I just had a great pic in my head of Gwaine going: ''Well...last time I saw Merlin he was running away after a dragon, Arthur went after him and he's hurt, Merlin,s missing.....I guess Merlin will call a taxi to get home :) Let's go!''

    ;P)

  7. It hurts to say this but I felt a bit 'flat' at the end of episode 2. There were lots of positives in it:
    - great sets, and beautiful scenery
    - plentiful action on all levels and many storylines going forward full speed ahead
    - Merlin and Arthur working together side by side without even speaking
    - Arthur being worried about Merlin in the caves
    - the brilliant shock move of Mordred stabbing Morgana (that came from nowhere!)
    - Mordred: I love his character, he is so ambiguous - leaving us completely up in the air what he is up to
    - Morgana going completely gaga
    BUT then..
    - the whole affair with our alien friend was totally mysterious, unexplained and left me wondering: what was the point of that?
    - It pains me immensly that Merlin is still kept back from using magic when it could have made a massive difference and saved many lives. Particularly when it came to the meeting with Morgana: A meek shout :'Arthur' and then he gets thrown in usual 'Merlin magic fashion against a wall. Sigh. How long will the writers keep Merlin in a state where he cannot use his power to protect those he loves? It is totally illogical - any sorcerer would have defended himself with magic if he had been landed in a similar tight spot as Merlin.
    - some dragonlord action was lovely, but again it went unnoticed by anyone else.
    - Arthur's bane is Arthur??? So he is his own worst enemy? And Merlin is to save him from himself ? Mmhh - I hope this gets cleared up as we go along - this seems rather complicated at the moment.
I did enjoy the episode all in all, but seeing Mordred made a knight after saving Arthur's life just ONCE whereas Merlin does not even get a new jacket for all he has done, was difficult to take!

  8. You've kind of summed up exactly how I feel about the episode too. I'd love for the 'alien' thing to come back later in the season and have some meaning, but I have a feeling he will be discarded like Gwen's bracelet after she and Lancelot where found out :(

Merlin's magic *has* to come out soon surely, him watching Arthur about to die and not doing anything about it at all was very frustrating!!

  9. Yeah, exactly, frustration slowly turning into anger ...!!

  10. To be fair, Merlin was trying to save Arthur from Morgana (we saw him raise his hand towards her), but couldn't because he was feeling dizzy and couldn't concentrate.
But I agree with you both in everything. What bothers me the most, that "Merlin the show" keeps doing, is jump from one thing to another in the end of an episode, I mean we went from Merlin being left alone in the caves (no one came after him?) to Mordred being knighted, what happened in between? What was Gwen's (and everyone's) reaction to seeing her husband come back, to seeing Mordred again, to the decision of making Mordred a knight (I thought knights were supposed to have some battle skills, among other things I think, but I guess now it's enough to save the king's life to become one), I could go on but I think you know what I mean.
And yes, I do wonder how far is Merlin to go to hide his magic at the expense of using it openly to save more lives.
On a side note, poor Aithusa! That wasn't supposed to be her life, how come Kilgarrah didn't keep a closer eye on her? Or did he and Merlin know that she was missing? I hope they adress this in future episodes.

  11. Yes, everything seems to happen very quickly and the plot was rushed ahead furiously. Arthur does not even know whether Mordred can hold a sword!
I also could not help but feel sorry for Aithusa. She must be totally traumatized by her experience of living in a well for 2 years and with Morgana!)- considering she is creature that needs to fly it must have done her immense psychological harm. Maybe she cried so much that she cannot speak any more :(
She seemed to listen to Merlin once she settled down and did not want to leave him, shakinf her head when he sent her away first time. Hope we'll find out about her trials and that she will be redeemed at the end of the season!
