  1. Nice developmental episode. Should be intense from here on out.

  2. While I like that Deb is a bit more understanding of what it is Dex does, I'm very curious what will happen between them. And I am supremely disappointed with what happened with Louis, after last season's creepiness he seemed like he would become this big player but just went nowhere here.

  3. I loved how Deb finally realized what her father had done allowing Dexter to clean out the trash

  4. Nice to see Deb able to realise that there is value to what Dexter is doing, also great to see Yvonne Strahovski again.

..i am so happy and also sad that debbie must let go dexter to do his job she dont approve but her hand are tight she allow a victim to die a killer free because dont trust dexter and she pays the price for it

  6. Good episode overall. Also a bit disappointed that Louis wasn't the big baddie this season. Seriously with his technical prowess the best comeback he could think of was to drill a hole in Dexter's boat. Bummer.

  7. Amazing episode, finally the show seems to be back on track!
Question: Why are some shots and scenes look like documentary?
    1. When Dex lured Deb into the bar as he was spying on the killer and the was dragging her towards the pool table
    2. During the whole scene Debra checking out the house as the girl was being chased.

Is it the low budget or what? I'm just wondering cause this happens more often, in other TV Shows as well...

  8. Thoughts...

Green(e) House: Doomsday Tableau #3 "The Angel of DEATH", possible reference to "The Orchid Thief"/"Adaptation", Louis could still turn out to be blood related to Dexter (otherwise it was the meanest red hearing in the world)

Hannah McKay still think she's a combination of Rita (nurturing), Ryan Chambers (Seductive?manipulative), and Lumen (out for Revenge/Capable of Killing -->well known Hannah Song: "Hard Hearted Hannah" about a feminine fatal.

More references to 'Dirty' Harry with Quinn, but also similar to having a "Scorpio" killer, we have a "Taurus" (bull) Killer...Horned Gods are about Fertility and/or Devilish. The guy, is his name Ray? Looks similar to Ramon Prado (Bald/Bad Temper) and the cemetery might also be a little tie back to season 3 themes.

Issac's killing methods from this episode and a previous episode remind me of two different Johnny Depp films. The screw driver is reminiscent to Secret Window (based on Stephen King's Novella) and Once Upon a Time in Mexico (Johnny Depps eyes are removed)

Also I didn't comment on last weeks, but it seemed like there might have been the TV show "Medium" references, as someone was named surname "DuBois" and the whole deal with the criminal Wayne Randal, Hannah's ex, making a deal to help locate his victims' bodies thing was both filmed uniquely and is reminiscent to a Medium plot lines.

  9. Yeah!!! I hoping Louis Blood might still say something...Like if Louis would have been a son (If Dexter gave sperm/had one night stand once), his step brother (another son of Joe Drischoll's), or is Brian's son, then that revelation could weigh on his conscience (especially if it was his son)...Other wise I think it was a mean thing for the writers to do to us!

  10. Well she is reconsidering, but she also said she isn't 100% on board either. I think LaGuerta will probably be a bigger factor in swaying her even more towards Dexter's perspective, but I think it's not an easy decision still, because like she said, you can't just change over night, but it was nice to see a moment where could understand him, and realize that he keeps saving lives, including hers. (:

  11. really?I'm glad he's dead and i think it's pretty obvious the mob boss is the big bad this season

  12. Although I admire
Debs effort to help Dex, she should listen to him. Serial killers are addicts. They
need to kill. Dex is channeling it. If he can't, he'll loose control. Kill anyone.

    Nice move
with Deb. Ordering the beer. Priceless. And tell her about his "lizard
brain" being her secret weapon. Cool. The dynamic between them was never
    better.

    And I think,
after talking to LaGuerta and the dead girl and the killer on the run, Deb finally
got it. Police sometimes just can't do anything. They are bound by the laws. Sometimes
you just need a killer to catch a killer.

    Nice moves
on Luis, Dex. I wish I could say I'm sorry for him. I'm not. I'm pissed he told
them who Dex is. Next ep, when Dex gets home, they'll probably be waiting for
    him.

    I just
    LOVED Dexters fantasies about killing.

    And Hanna
was great. Can't wait to see more oh her.

  13. Louis to be
Dex son? Right. Dex would have been what 15-16? He couldn't been Brians either.
He spent most of his life locked away.

    A brother? Well,
if Dex runs the blood thru the database and since Brians sample should be in
the system … If there is a connection, we'll find out.

    They had no
other choice. It those idiots wouldn't have kill him, Dex would (if Louis
    wouldn't stop stalking him).

    ReplyDelete
  14. Of course
Deb always believed in law and justice. Someone gets killed and she does what
she can to catch the killer. This was different. She was warned that someone
will kill again soon. A situation she never faced before, I guess.

    It was a
reality check. One, she needed. Sometimes the police can't do anything. Until
    it's too late.

    Of course
she can't change overnight. No one can. But I think she finally got that sometimes
just a killer can stop another killer. And that sometimes you have to kill
first to save a life (or more lives).

  15. Louis couldn't
be the big bad this season. Dex already knew who he was and what he did. He sent
Louis a massage: back off or you die. If Louis wouldn't stop stalking Dex, Dex
would have killed him. It wouldn't take long. Dex wouldn't need the entire
season to kill him. Unless Louis would disappear and stalk and attack him only thru
    his computer.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I feel
sorry for Deb. She loved her brother and wanted to help him. She not only had
to realize that sometimes the police can't do anything until it's too late, but
also she realized that Dex was right. Sometimes you have to kill to save a
    life.

    She still
doesn't approve his killings. But I think, that accepting it is the first step.
She doesn't need to like it. She has to accept it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. But if she's "was" against Harry, as she stated back in earlier seasons she realized she valued the wrong person in terms of her career choice, then her reason to continue to be a cap, would be to be "a better cop", which is almost what we get at the beginning of the season, by trying to say Harry and his logic is wrong. -We're going to defeat this!...but now 'Harry's Law' is looking better, because her life was spared again.

I don't disagree that she is leaning towards Dexter, just that this revelation is not YET the same thing actually being on his side. That is what my argument is. I don't think we're done with these two dealing with their brands of "justice". and "acceptability" yet after just one incident and one political road block.

  18. Although it remains to be seen, I find it hard to believe that Louis motives are about his video game alone, as he tried to get close to Dexter since he first met him. His video with the prostitute could further parallel him to Brian (minus the lack of killing)...But if something blood-related doesn't materialize it really made the whole character exceptionally misleading and I doubt many people will like that.

It's obvious Issac is the big bag, but I feel like there are also some possible surprising sub plots set up with this Taurus killer, Hannah, and LaGuerta...

  19. As we know Deb always had the feeling to be daddys no.2. Her mother died, dad spends all his time at work or with Dex. What she did (for the last 20 years and more) she did for Harry. As long as he was alive she did it because she wanted some attention. After he died she still did what she thought he would approve. Like becoming det. at homicide.

She always believed the best of her father. I think, it was S4 when she found out some dirty secrets (him sleeping with informants). And just now she figured what training he had with Dex. But before that she loved her father and never doubted at him. Believed, he was a good cop.

She does NOT believe that his code is better that the laws she follows. She still can't accept and approve what Dex is doing. And is having a hard time believing her dad thought him that. But as I said, this was a reality check for her. She still believes in the law. But she saw firsthand, that sometimes the law is failing the victims. And that Dexter (and Harry) is right: sometimes you have to kill to prevent others from killing.

Of course she is not approving Dexter killing. I think she accepted that sometimes it's necessary (she killed herself in self-defense). She will still trying to help him. I think, she still believes in the good in him. That he can change (stop killing). She is far from just accepting the fact that her brother is a serial killer, leaning back and let him do what he can do best. But I think this is, where we're headed.

  20. It could be about the game. Some people are sensitive and touchy about their work. Didn't Dex figured out that Louis got his colleague fired to get his job, or something like that?

Issac (he wants to kill Dex because of Victor), Hannah (from a video we could believe that she is a killer and Dex will look for evidence to kill her) and LaGuerta (she now believes that BHB is alive and is looking for him to clear Doakes name), definitely. But I think that was the last we saw from Taurus. He was arrested several times before, so the cops know who he is. He would have to be stupid to stay in Miami. He probably took the first bus leaving Florida.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I didn't say it couldn't, just that I find it hard to believe considering the game featured Bay harbor Butcher as one of it's serial killers, he used Jamie to get even closer to him. He not only bought the arm, but send it to Dexter with "symbols" on it. -It implied he had to know something about "who" Dexter is, and serves as juxtaposition to Brian who also used others (a women) to get close to him, but seemingly the difference is Louis had yet to kill. Brian himself had mild parallels to the film Dirty Harry's serial killer, "The Scorpio" Killer, who left his victim (but in a different way than Brian did - with water and blood still in tact) in a pool at a hotel. Ironically we have this "Taurus" Killer, who almost killed Deb. It might not mean anything as we shift gears to more S2,S3, and S5 themes, but the connections are still curious.

And just because he leaves, doesn't mean he won't come back (Trinity Killer).

Spoiler from S7 2 minute promo:
-There are scenes featuring the bull man that where not in this episode..

  22. I think Dexter is @ 40 since he was 3 in 1973...it would be possible for a 17 or 18 year old to donate sperm...let alone have a one night stand...Louis could have been in his early 20's

    ReplyDelete
  23. A never said she didn't love her father, just like YOU
said by season 4 her opinion of him, his morals, changed and so her reasons for being a cop would also have to change, since it was her opinion of her father that led her to want to be just like him, as she has desperately been fighting and seeking his approval for so long. And I wasn't arguing with about her belief in justice, as much as I was arguing phnxgrl, that it isn't a black and white situation yet, including her opinion of Harry.

  24. Really glad Louis is dead, too many characters have out stayed their welcome hopefully Quinn will be next.

Liking how the storylines are slowly crossing over with Dexter and the Russian Mob.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's really sad to see that the biggest threat of the season is a Ukrainian mob. Louis was annoying and had to go, but the way they ended him was dissapointing.

  26. Nice episode.
    - I'm glad Louis is dead but I wish Dexter had did it. Also, the fact that he died right after making accusations about Dexter to his girlfriend means that she might be trouble later on.
    - Deb is slowly beginning to see things from Dexter's POV but she still has a lot of issues with all of it. It's going to be a slow burn.
    - What the hell is wrong with Quinn? Seriously, this guy never learns anything from his mistakes.
    - Nice intro to Yvonne Strahovski's character but it's kind of crappy that they previewed almost her entire appearance this week in a sneak peek.

  27. Gosh, im afraid to say anything this was the DLocke4 & kiera thread, lol....all u guys seem to get into the serious side of Dexter,,,all the inside stuff of the killings and stuff....u go into all the details of everything in the epi's.....

but i watch it for the Humor and Fun stuff of Dexter...mind u i Love the Killings and Blood also and i look forward in watching them....But the most fun i've had this season is how Debra is finding different ways of saying "Jesus @#$% Christ" every week, lol...OMG, how many ways will she find to call Jesus Christ full of curse words, lol...she's the Best...☺...

  28. I didn't even think it was that much of an understanding even though she said it.
Somehow the last minutes of the episode had this sense of sadness and loss about them.

To me it didn't feel like acceptance and more like a form of soft rejection where it's more a sense of her giving up on him than any real acceptance or understanding.

More like she was disillusioned both about the world (however little there was still left to disillusion), the justice system and who Dexter really is.

Everything has changed and not in a good way.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh no I get that there is a rejection and the last few minutes of the episode has this sense of loss and sadness. On the one hand I think Deb understands why Dex does what he does and understands that it is a necessary evil in some circumstances. But the fact that it's her brother, that essentially her world has shattered around her and everything she believes is being questions is too much for her.

I hope that she'll learn to accept it instead of simply rejecting, but I think either way she understands it, at least better now. Hopefully this won't drive a permanent wedge between them.

  30. I have a theory that everything we have ever seen is a dream and that either in the final season, or in the final episodes, Dexter is going to awaken to his actual reality...

I like what you are saying about "documentary"....Dexter had mentioned this that he was like a caged animal who needed freed!....This goes back to Brian and "Born Free" which relates to both a song and a nature documentary about "Lion" behavior! (Harrison and Dexter were LIONS last season for Harrison's Noah's Arc Play) Also IMO Dexter has been acting more like he did in "Nebraska" (when Brian appeared as his DP) more than himself, as even in 7x01 he did SO many things "Harry" wouldn't want him to do...

But "Born Free" is also apart of a play on words and names in the series...BOrn FREE - "FREE BO" (FREd BOwman), FREE the BOY (<---Trinity), BOYd FOwlER,

  31. I think the writers would have used Louis more if they were planning on going on for years, but since the network and the producers decided on only 2 more years, it seems like they really had no more room for him. Even though they ended him pre-maturaly, I like that he pretty much did that to himself. If he had listened to Dexter, he may still be alive. Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It will be quite black and white in a few episodes in. Then Deb will have to choose to believe in a very flawed system or let her brother be who he is.
