  1. Not happy, sorry.
    How many series regular now?
it seems the show will be very different, and I fell in love with OUAT in season 1 because the old characters were amazing.

  2. I'm still curious about how he has a pre-dark one history with Rumple yet is also in the present.

  3. You know, I love Peter Pan. And Captain Hook has always been one of top 5 childhood villans.

  4. Wow! The must have found something really interesting to do in the writing room and I am guessing it has to do with 'tinker' Belle too!

  5. I'm not really worried; this is the people from lost we are talking about, they know how to juggle lots of characters; It's not like the Glee people.

  6. Now, there's gotta be something important about him! I mean, we haven't even met him yet and he's already promoted to series regular! Even more excited to see Captain Hook!

  7. Well, fans were pretty vocal with the hotness, so maybe that sealed the deal, lol.

But seriously, I hope it's not just blatant fan pandering and they really have a cool story to tell with him.

  8. HAHAHAHHA, but you're right.

  9. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. More likely he's there to romance Emma.

  11. I always thought Lost was terrible at it.

  12. I haven't even seen him in a single episode yet but that doesn't matter..those promo pics where promissing enough. totally yaaaaay :D!

  13. August, Cinderella, Abigail and Frederick, Jiminny..........we have characters with unfinished stories but they keep adding new series regular.
    I hate this.

  14. They have to have something planned long term to make him a regular so soon! So who, Tinker Bell,or Emma??????

  15. BEST. NEWS. EVER.

  16. Wow, he must be pretty impressive... or the writers have come up with something brilliant for his character.

  17. ALLA,Only Hook has been promoted to series regular this season,no one else...the others are recurring character.

  18. Those weren't/aren't regulars anymore. Of that batch the only one that was left in a cliffhanger was August, even though he fulfilled his purpose on the story. Sbarge always was used sparingly as a support character and not even in very episode, his contract didn't nor reflected his role. And he is still there on his supporting role.

Abigail and Frederick were recurring at best; they were never the main focus and only served to flesh out other character stories.

  19. Their stories will be told,no one ever said they were only going to concentrate on 6 characters.

  20. To me, they need new characters for them to connect with the main characters and keep telling the story.

  21. Archie and August aren't regulars anymore.
Hook as regular already Is intresting.

  22. I may be wrong, but every time I think in the Once Upon a Time end… with all new regular actors, joining Once Upon a Time.
I think they are slowly taking the place of the original cast of the first season.
I loved the first episode of season 2. And . I want to see the unfolding of the stories of the main cast. And these new stories that come around, begin to threaten my devotion to the show.
Where is August/Pinocchio? Cinderella/Ella and her prince? Katherine/Abigail?
And why so many new characters? UGH
I think that promoting an actor a regular when he has not yet appeared in the show, is a entire discredit to the other Once Upon a Time actors!
Forgive me for my outburst, I might not today a good day … maybe tomorrow I’ll think differently, but I feel depressed.

  23. You mean other than Emilie de Ravin and Meghan Ory, right?

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is dumb. They should wait to see how if the audience even likes the character before promoting him to a regular. This stinks of another August fiasco.

  26. I wasn't necessarily talking Romance...Cathy had suggested a theory that Rumples wife might have ran away with Hook. And I really see the potential in that.

    .Since Hook relates to Peter Pan and Peter Pan to tinker Bell, and if Bae turns out to be one of Hooks pirates ('a lost boy' - a boy who never really grew up - became responsible) then I could see how the situation between all 5 characters could get really weird let alone if would Bae would also be Henry's father who has "Peter Pan" syndrome (kind of fun for Fringe fans) and what that all would mean for Etta, er I mean Emma (;

  27. I don't blame your out burst, it is kind of an odd thing, but I suspect that they either couldn't make a deal with the actor sooner, or they had an epiphany in the writers room that makes him very important to some of the other characters. I think Hook is such an iconic figure, but really there hasn't been a lot material written about him and perhaps he will double as another really famous fairy tale/children's literature character that we haven't thought of!

  28. back nine? Has OUAT been given a full episode order?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Same for me. My first thought upon hearing this was 'hope they're not making the same mistakes again'. I liked that they kept their series regulars group relatively small in the beginning.
Not judging yet, but I hope they're not losing sight of who makes this for most fans: the core characters.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh, of course. Why not just make everyone a regular? This way, everyone can get as much screen time as Dr. Hopper.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I meant newly hired/promoted this season, like the start of the fall/new season. He is the only one, everyone else was last season or as soon as the season ended...

    ReplyDelete
  32. ANOTHER series regular? They really hand those out like candy, don't they?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Heck, I was one of those fans vocalizing how hot the guy is (in the promo). But, I still value overall story contribution and balance over hotness. Capt Hook hasn't even been seen onscreen yet. Are they THAT certain that fans will love his story and how it adds to the season/series story arch? Who knows if Hook's part of the story adds to the 'big picture' well.

I'm a little concerned these writers are going to repeat past mistakes by overstretching, trying to tell too many stories. If they get carried away with 'side stories' too much, they run the risk of losing focus from the main story which, imo, should be centered on the Charmings.

This show hasn't disappointed me so far, so I am willing to see how this plays out. :S

  34. Once was always renewed for a full 22 episode season

    ReplyDelete
  35. you sure? is there a press release for this? (cause I can't find a press release...)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well, ONCE was the #1 new drama last fall or at least one of the top new dramas (in ratings). And typically a network season renewal is for a minimum of 22 episodes unless stated otherwise plus there was never any explicit mention of only a 13 episode season order? So I'm just assuming but I don't know of a press release off the top of my head. Sorry :(

  37. I'm happy with Hook adding, but I'm shocked to know that the actor who embodies the character already has regular even before we see him on tv-show. This is what is putting someone on a pedestal. Neither the actors who play the dwarves were so lucky.
And frankly Emilie de Ravin after doing a few episodes last season only now started as a regular in Once Upon a Time.

With so much character to appear suddenly, with their specific stories, soon the characters from the first season no longer appear in the series...

And why Emma Snow, being transported to the fairy tales together? I know they lived together as friends in season 1, and they need to live as mother and daughter now. But Emma and her father? It is ridiculous that even in season 1 she never had a great approach with his father, and it seems that everything will remain the same way this season.

It's cute to see Charming caring and taking care of her grandson. But it becomes awkward when he has not had any interaction with his daughter....I will not forget the scenes of him with Emma in his arms defending her, fighting with a sword, to reach the magical wardrobe devastating in tears while saying goodbye to her

  38. I think you might be right, since they have already hinted that Emma will be getting at least one "suitor" this season.

  39. I love the fairytales and all that stuff, but I really think that OUAT need to refocus it's story on the original characters and introduce recurring people that keeps appearing throughout the season. That way, we don't get a story resolved quickly and its character forgotten. Like Cinderella. I loved her story and they could have played her story with Rumplestiltskin a bit longer out. Like if he was the mastermind or the culprit behind all the stories in the last two episodes of the season finale. Something like this: Cinderella making a deal with Rumple but don't show it, and then show in the finale who the mystery has been along. And Belle living with the Beast and then show in the finale that Rumple was/is the Beast. That would be more shocking.

And who is the Red Queen in Wonderland? Been wondering that.

Somehow I feel we will get lost in all the stories when we are by season three.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Personally, I think Bae is Peter Pan. He was young when he went off to "another place". What if the Fairytale Land that still exists is something of a Neverland and that's where Bae ended up. Or after the curse happened, Neverland somehow got involved with the portion of Fairytale Land that still existed. Or maybe Hook and the others traveled to the land that still exists, afterall Peter Pan can fly.

Who knows, they're just wild theories. Unfortunately, with every episode they change slightly. Some of these storylines may be saved for way later. If the show stays on the air for years they'll likely keep some mysteries around to slowly unveil them over the course of other seasons. Just a possibility.

Many options to explore, and much time to wait for answers...
