Not sure how I feel about this apparent reveal. I guess we'll see how it plays out. I just hope they don't start adding dracula and wolfman. I thought NBC owned the rights to Universal Monsters.
I don't know how I feel about this. I loved Regina and Daniel last season and it will break my heart if they fuck with their love story for a Halloween stunt.
Am I the only one who thinks Regina had an affair with Jefferson at some point while she was married? In any case, there has to be a lot of history between them, one way or another. There must be a reason he didn't trust her (and even his daughter feared her) in the 1x17 flashbacks.
It can't be beneath the crypt, I think it's somewhere in the hospital basement. Probably Dr.Whale stumbled upon it and decided to take revenge against her by reviving Zombie!Daniel 2.0. Actually, I think the first time the "resurrection" must have failed, or Regina had to kill Zombie!Daniel 1.0 (if the latter is true, I hate you, writers). Because we already saw Regina take Snow to Daniel's grave in 1x21 (unless his body wasn't actually buried there and what Regina meant when she said it was his grave, was that he was doomed the moment she saved Snow). If she actually kept Daniel's body in a mausoleum in Storybrooke, that's just so so heartbreaking... Again, I hate you writers. This is too much, too heavy and twisted. Is this season supposed to be a torture for Evil Regals?? Haven't we suffered enough?
Hat Trick established that ANY fiction work has a place or a world it exists in for real - everything our creativity creates is based upon a connection to those parallel realities.
So people guessed Whale being either Frankenstein(because well, doctor, etc), Captain Nemo or Peter Pan.
Maybe. She seems to be walking down the corridor in the secret hospital ward where Belle was kept, so I assumed the coffin was there too. I don't think she'd go to the ward too often if it were just to keep an eye on Belle.
Either way, I'd love to find out. I love their scenes together. :) P.S.: Maybe he suspects she was somehow responsible for his wife's death(disappearance)?
OH MY! He's DR. FRANKENSTEIN?!!! I heard the theory but,.. He just seemed more funny than crazy/creepy monster making FRANKENSTEIN! I'm truly shocked! And yay, Jefferson's there too! With Regina?!
Quite possibly although he seemes adamant that her demise was his fault (because of his work) so I don't know. I agree they play off each other very well!
Why is everybody so freaked out about Frankenstein being on the story? It makes much more sense than Mulan, IMO. He is a fictional character from a book, just like Snow White, the Evil Queen, Peter Pan. It is not a fairytale, I get that, but so what? As long as the story makes sense, I'm ok with it.
whoa what the hell? whale is frankenstein? frankenstein people forget is not actually the monsters real name the creator is victor frankenstein and the monster is frankenstein's monster.
Yep, not to mention that show clearly established that ONLY FTL is limited to fairytales. Every fictional work or legend exists in some parallel world out there, according to "Hat Trick".
If Jefferson knows the dude, Whale most likely arrived from another world to FTL.
Regina is my favorite character and I really feel like she's suffered enough. I've always thought that Daniel and her were adorable. Now I'm having hopes they might be togheter in the end after all. I don't care what happens in the middle to get him back. <3
I really hope he isn't Victor Frankenstein. Mainly because Victor Frankenstein was not a doctor in Mary Shelley's book!
That's why I'm really really hoping for him to be the doctor from Grimm's "Godfather Death." I know in that story the Doctor only has a herb that allows him to heal someone, but they have changed the stories before. I just don't want it to be Frankenstein and the creature. But since the book starts onboard a ship, I can see why he is named Whale. Still, Frankenstein? We don't know yet, but it looks like it.
However, I think it would be a better twist to have him be the doctor from their version of "Godfather Death." (Plus, I would love to eventually come across Death on this show, especially if he works out as well as Julian Richings did on Supernatural. I would be comfortable with him playing Death here as well.)
If Whale is Frankenstein, it makes him SO much more interesting to me. I didn't really care about his character much until now. I'm willing to bribe the OUAT producers in order to give the character a big, splashy intro by playing Alice Cooper's Feed My Frankenstein.
I don't see it as a Halloween stunt. Anders knew who he was when he was cast in season 1, and the writers have nothing to do with when an episode is aired.
Besides, its completely believable to me that Regina would at least try to resurrect her one true love.
Yeah, but here's what I thought: just as Regina likes to keep the hearts of the people she kills, Cora could have wanted to keep Daniel's body. She had magic, so all she had to do was cast a spell on the coffin to conserve the body. Maybe Regina only found out about it by accident, after Cora was already gone.
Chins up, R ♥ D fans! Maybe it's not as bad as it looks. Maybe the real Daniel starts coming out, he recognizes Regina (true love!) and he fights the monster part that Frankenwhale created at the end of the episode.
wooow. what the hell is going on. is whale frankenstein? i did not see that one coming, he is not what i would call a fairytale character! but this looks heavy regina centric, so it's amazingggg!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Seems like the theory that Whale is Frankenstein was right!
ReplyDeleteI am calling It.everyon ewho said whale was frankenstein Is right. They are making up for no regina In tonight's episode.
ReplyDeleteO_o Like SERIOUSLY?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I think I just died a little bit inside.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about this apparent reveal. I guess we'll see how it plays out. I just hope they don't start adding dracula and wolfman. I thought NBC owned the rights to Universal Monsters.
ReplyDeleteWow... I'm not sure how I feel about this, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out next week!
ReplyDeleteis the stuff with regina, jefferson and whale happening in storybrooke or pre curse fairy tale land where regina isn't evil yet?
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I feel about this. I loved Regina and Daniel last season and it will break my heart if they fuck with their love story for a Halloween stunt.
ReplyDeleteMore Regina! nice!
ReplyDeleteSeems like we're finally learning who Dr.Whale really is!
can't wait for next week!
for what i can see in this promo, this is happening in Storybrooke and pre-cursed farytale land
ReplyDeleteDR FREAKIN FRANKESTEIN Is in the house
ReplyDeleteyeah i figured that. what I wonder is that does regina go to whale to revive daniel in storybrooke or FTL? looks a bit confusing...
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who thinks Regina had an affair with Jefferson at some point while she was married? In any case, there has to be a lot of history between them, one way or another. There must be a reason he didn't trust her (and even his daughter feared her) in the 1x17 flashbacks.
ReplyDeleteso daniel is also Frankenstein's monster? Looks like he kills Whale in Storybrooke...
ReplyDeleteSo did not see this coming.
ReplyDeleteHow the hell did people begin to guess that?? He's NOT a Disney character.
ReplyDeleteWell, the show isn't strictly about Disney characters or fairy tales, so people thought outside the box.
ReplyDeleteOk so this could either be really awesome or seriously WTF. Its Once, so I'll give it a go.
ReplyDeleteWALE IS DR.FRAKENSTEIN OMG OMG
ReplyDeleteWell, I revoke my comments about whale being Peter Pan cause that sure looks pretty clear
ReplyDeleteGirl, I know you have a creepy mausoleum beneath your daddy's crypt but how were you keeping Daniel minty fresh while you were married to Leopold?
ReplyDeleteIn FTL. You can tell by their clothes. But it looks like Whale does something to him in the present.
ReplyDeleteOUAT Writers (writing season 2): So...Let's rip the hearts of millions of Evil Regals out and just...squeeze really hard and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteI never expected them to go into the horror genre.
ReplyDeleteOMG! OMG! OMG!
ReplyDeleteIt can't be beneath the crypt, I think it's somewhere in the hospital basement. Probably Dr.Whale stumbled upon it and decided to take revenge against her by reviving Zombie!Daniel 2.0.

THe coffin looks like it's beneath the crypt because it's the same sort of stone/brick style.
ReplyDeleteMaybe. She seems to be walking down the corridor in the secret hospital ward where Belle was kept, so I assumed the coffin was there too. I don't think she'd go to the ward too often if it were just to keep an eye on Belle.
ReplyDeleteYes Daniel is back!!!Stable boy and Regina FTW!
ReplyDeleteFrankenstain??! Didn't see that coming!
ReplyDeleteI think they were close like siblings or close friends and she probably betrayed him at some point. But with this show, who knows!?!
ReplyDeleteThis promo is awesome. It made me want to start watching the new ep right this second. Looks like it'll be a great Halloween ep.
ReplyDeleteEither way, I'd love to find out. I love their scenes together. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S.: Maybe he suspects she was somehow responsible for his wife's death(disappearance)?
HOLEEEE S**T!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a twist, you all. Frankly, I'm loving it so much.
Exactly. It will either be a genius episode or a freaking disaster.
ReplyDeleteOH MY! He's DR. FRANKENSTEIN?!!!
ReplyDeleteI heard the theory but,.. He just seemed more funny than crazy/creepy monster making FRANKENSTEIN!
I'm truly shocked!

ReplyDeleteHE'S FRANKENSTEIN!!! damn it I can't wait for this episode!!.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! Definitely an episode NOT to miss for sure!!!

He is a fictional character from a book, just like Snow White, the Evil Queen, Peter Pan. It is not a fairytale, I get that, but so what? As long as the story makes sense, I'm ok with it.
ReplyDeleteOw... I clapped my hands together a bit too hard when I shouted Frankenstein. I guess I'm happy about that. :)
ReplyDeleteNoah Bean is back! Yay!
ReplyDeletewhoa what the hell? whale is frankenstein? frankenstein people forget is not actually the monsters real name the creator is victor frankenstein and the monster is frankenstein's monster.

ReplyDeleteAmen. I don't know what we've done to deserve this. This episode will rip my heart out again. -sigh-
ReplyDeleteWow, I have a feeling that this is going to get freaking awesome! Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteAnd more important: who's heart is Frankenstein/Whale implanting? Daniel's heart was squeezed to ashes by Cora....Or did I miss something?
ReplyDeleteAt the very least in the present one of the promos has Regina saying something like "He took a heart from my collection!"
ReplyDeleteI think those are separate. She sees the empty coffin in the mausoleum and then ends up in the hospital
ReplyDeleteSo Dr. Whale is Dr. Frankenstein, and Daniel is the monster? Wow! I'm really looking forward to this.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she didn't. Cora might have.
ReplyDeleteCora was gone though.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see
ReplyDeleteFINALLY, Regina gets a fuller role in an episode! And Frankenstein...that's certainly an unexpected twist. I can't wait to see where this goes.
ReplyDeleteI really hope he isn't Victor Frankenstein. Mainly because Victor Frankenstein was not a doctor in Mary Shelley's book!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I'm really really hoping for him to be the doctor from Grimm's "Godfather Death." ReplyDeleteThat's precisely why he's Frankenstein. He's a doctor who creates monsters - here he creates zombie!Daniel.
ReplyDeleteChins up, R ♥ D fans! Maybe it's not as bad as it looks. Maybe the real Daniel starts coming out, he recognizes Regina (true love!) and he fights the monster part that Frankenwhale created at the end of the episode.
ReplyDeleteJames Whale was the director of Frankenstein. So I can hope to see both Sherlock Holmes and Watson in Once Upon A Time :D
ReplyDeletewooow. what the hell is going on. is whale frankenstein? i did not see that one coming, he is not what i would call a fairytale character! but this looks heavy regina centric, so it's amazingggg!
