Oh Emma...you do not shoot a gun in the middle of fairytale forest possibly full of things out to get you...
Aurora is a great contrast to Snow, on other hand, being more closer to the stereotypical "princess" - the possibilities for character growth for Aurora are beyond huge
Couldn't agree more. I guess they needed the stereotypical princess to contrast with other less usual princesses/royals like Cinderella (born poor), Snow (bad ass), Regina (not noble from birth), Charming (fake prince with badass sword skills), Belle (good heart, but not superficial and more curious about the world out there).
Oh lord, not only does Emma waste a bullet, but she alerts everyone in a 10 miles radius. To add insult to injury she also shoots straight up...like umm the bullet will make its way back down,so umm just don't move you won't feel a thing!
Yes, Emma, you have a gun. However, you're in the woods. Given that this is Once Upon a Time, you're running from someone and loud noises that help people figure out where you are...isn't necessarily a good thing. :-D I am hoping against hope I don't spend another season growling at the TV because Emma is being dumb. ( for the record I'm not saying she was being dumb in this scene. This, for me, was inexperience with the new world she's in)
My issues with Mulan aren't so much her performance as the way the character is written. She hasn't really been given that much to do yet. (I hope the *yet* is right.) I can deal with Aurora because of the contrast...(though that dress seems really impractical at points. :-) ... but Mulan should be as tough as Snow, in terms of fighting and we haven't seen that yet.
Yeah, I'm a city girl. I didnt' think about the sound in the woods thing until Snow began to admonish her. My first thought was about shooting in the air like that.
I agree about the writing. It isn't helping matters at all. It all would be passable if Chung was bringing some life to the role but her line readings are so wooden that it's just compounding the problem.
I spent most of my life in the city, now i live in the country on 17 acres of woods, and some days i don't even her a sound except for the birds,But when the manics come upstate to go hunting that first shot is heard for miles. We also get the idiots who are drunk and shoot there gun up in the air......they deserve what ever they get.No love lost for them!
Aurora had that flip coming to her. Good on ya, Snow! :) Way to go, Emma... attract the attention of everybody/everything that you're trying to hide at at night from.
That is a good point. I do think she lost her gun in that scuffle. I have to believe that the Sheriff dept. has more than one handgun. If not, it may be the worst local law enforcement agency ever. :)
OMG, YES!!! Please! I hope they'll do one once the full moon comes! I'm really curious as to whether she was wearing her hood when she got stuck in Storybrooke and if she still has it (or else there'll be trouble!)
I disagree just a little, because I can see her serving as a parallel to Emma. It's not to say that I think her performance was great, but I think it is meant to contrast that role of princess in non traditional princess role, starting of being presented in a limiting way, and loosing someone you fell in love with do to standing up to evil forces. Obviously it remains to be seen if she'll improve, but I have hopes she will. (Plus I like adding a dash of eastern philosophy to the show)
Hahaha! -I have a weird feeling that if magic works weird/differently in the land with out it, I don't know how weapons from the land with out magic will work in land with it?!
Hmm, it never occurred to me that the existence of magic would keep guns from working. I just thought there weren't guns because they hadn't been invented yet.
I'm interested in the story of the present day fairytale world, but I'm interested in it only because of Emma, Snow and Cora. So far, the writing does not make me care about the new characters. I too hope it will be better with Lancelot.
We know that there are ogres in the wood but Emma doesn't. She can't know it. Giving a warning shot is in our wolrd a normal reaction to stop other persons and to show them that you are strong and pissed. Cops do this too.
You are right, but what kind of a bounty hunter only has one gun? And what kind of town gives their sheriff a revolver? Hell, we all know that Emma isn't the brightest, but only one gun is really crappy.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I hate Aurora. She's so annoying, hate how big of a storyline she'll get compared to other characters.
ReplyDeleteOh Emma...you do not shoot a gun in the middle of fairytale forest possibly full of things out to get you...

Bam! Snow and Emma are awesome! Kill the "bitches". No one touch your mom, Emma (well, you dad, but just him lool)
ReplyDeleteEmma is so very stupid to waste a bullet like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that that shot alerts the not so friendly ogres.
She is protecting her mom. I find more stupid Aurora
ReplyDeleteAurora is mighty stupid. So far I just find her annoying.
ReplyDeleteI just think that Emma could have screamed to stop Mulan.
I don't think that's even the same gun she had last season. I swear last season she had a Glock. Although, that gun could be her back-up piece.
ReplyDeleteMary Margaret is talking so fast, I can hardly make out what she's saying!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more. ReplyDeleteI'm afraid she didn't and that somepoint they will come to the "last bullet" situation.
ReplyDeleteI just hope Aurora character growth begins soon.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know what a cop is doing with a revolver in the first place. Did OUAT learn everything about law enforcement from TJ Hooker?
ReplyDeleteI looooove bad@ss Emma!!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!!!!! these MOTHER/DAUHTER Badass scene is PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteI think the character was a good idea but I have been disappointed in Jamie Chung's performance so far.
ReplyDeleteno snow she doesn't b/c she's never grown up in FT land she doesn't know. In our world that is how you break up a fight
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know where her service weapon went to. That's the gun she should have brought to FTL.
ReplyDeleteOh lord, not only does Emma waste a bullet, but she alerts everyone in a 10 miles radius. To add insult to injury she also shoots straight up...like umm the bullet will make its way back down,so umm just don't move you won't feel a thing!
ReplyDeleteAll is forgiven if I get to see Emma pistol whip an ogre.
ReplyDeleteLol,yeah,that would be something!
ReplyDeleteI know right! I have no clue what she said at the end
ReplyDeleteHa at Snow taking Aurora's ass down like that! That was awesome.
ReplyDeleteAnd aww at Emma protecting her mommy.
Yes, Emma, you have a gun. However, you're in the woods. ReplyDeleteshhhh.... there are still many in Hollywood that firmly believe the audience doesn't notice or remember stuff like that! :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm a city girl. I didnt' think about the sound in the woods thing until Snow began to admonish her. My first thought was about shooting in the air like that.

ReplyDeleteNow the ogres come! and we get more emma/snow kick-ass scenes! this is perfect!
ReplyDeleteAurora had that flip coming to her. Good on ya, Snow! :) Way to go, Emma... attract the attention of everybody/everything that you're trying to hide at at night from.
ReplyDeleteOh Emma, so smart.
ReplyDeleteWell, to be honest, Emma was a bounty-hunter first, so i guess some guns could be from back then.
ReplyDeleteAurora and Mulan are so freaking annoying. I hope Lancelot makes a better showing than those two.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'm more interested in what is going on in Storybrooke with Charming, Red, Henry, and Regina.
Another Red-centric episode WOULD be nice.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is what I'm talkin' about! I hope Sheriff Tightpants brought extra bullets.
ReplyDelete"I'm more interested in what is going on in Storybrooke with Charming, Red, Henry, and Regina."
ReplyDeleteWe had plenty of that last week. Maybe a little too much. Although, if they want to do a Red-heavy episode I won't complain.
I thought she lost her service weapon during the fight with Maleficent. She didn't seem to have it when she got Charming's sword.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good point. I do think she lost her gun in that scuffle. I have to believe that the Sheriff dept. has more than one handgun. If not, it may be the worst local law enforcement agency ever. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, YES!!! Please! I hope they'll do one once the full moon comes! I'm really curious as to whether she was wearing her hood when she got stuck in Storybrooke and if she still has it (or else there'll be trouble!)
ReplyDelete"Emma, do you have any idea what you've just done?" Maybe there were no guns at FTL and she just showed them one?
ReplyDeleteI thought about maybe there weren't guns, just swords n FTL, because I don't remember anything other than their sword fights!
ReplyDeleteWooden is ther right way to describe it.
ReplyDeleteThat is ridiculous indeed. Where is a 9 mm when you need one?
ReplyDeleteOk, but was she a bounty hunter in the 1940's?
ReplyDeleteNow that's more like it. Nice gun.
ReplyDeleteI disagree just a little, because I can see her serving as a parallel to Emma. It's not to say that I think her performance was great, but I think it is meant to contrast that role of princess in non traditional princess role, starting of being presented in a limiting way, and loosing someone you fell in love with do to standing up to evil forces. ReplyDeleteMaybe she just has a [dark] fetish for them (film noir spoofs ala Fringe and Felicity???) XD
ReplyDeleteHahaha! -I have a weird feeling that if magic works weird/differently in the land with out it, I don't know how weapons from the land with out magic will work in land with it?!

Way to go Snow!! Loving the new Snow!
ReplyDeleteHmm, it never occurred to me that the existence of magic would keep guns from working. I just thought there weren't guns because they hadn't been invented yet.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha.
ReplyDeleteNah pretty sure she just made so much noise that every ogre will know where they are...silly Emma.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in the story of the present day fairytale world, but I'm interested in it only because of Emma, Snow and Cora. So far, the writing does not make me care about the new characters. I too hope it will be better with Lancelot.
ReplyDeleteWord.
ReplyDeleteWe know that there are ogres in the wood but Emma doesn't. She can't know it. Giving a warning shot is in our wolrd a normal reaction to stop other persons and to show them that you are strong and pissed. Cops do this too.
ReplyDeleteYep, she lost her service gun during dragon fight.
ReplyDeleteAnd its not that surprising that Emma, someone who grew up not trusting people and alone, would take up some interest in guns.
You would be surprised on how popular vintage guns are are.
Exactly. Unfortunately, Emma's is somewhere in a dragon pit under the library.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, but what kind of a bounty hunter only has one gun? And what kind of town gives their sheriff a revolver?
ReplyDeleteHell, we all know that Emma isn't the brightest, but only one gun is really crappy.
That's why I think the revolver must be her back-up piece and not a regular service weapon.
ReplyDeleteIt would make sense, but still, crappy gun ;)
ReplyDeleteDidn't Emma waste all her bullets from her 9mm trying to shoot the dragon at the end of Season 1? The revolver is just her back-up.
ReplyDeleteshe did but I believe she lost in while trying to shoot Maleficent
