The network is said to be on the verge of scrapping its pricey remake of CBS' original comedy, which first aired in 1964.

NBC has a big decision to make regarding its high-profile reboot of The Munsters. After two years in development and a pilot that sources say cost a whopping $10 million, the network is said to be unhappy with Mockingbird Lane (named for the famed family's 1313 address) and is on the verge of scrapping the whole project.

  1. Keep hearing conflicting things about it - I am sure it was reported earlier that it had been scrapped, and then it was reported that the report was false, and now it's close to being scrapped again? Sounds to me like it's doomed and should be scrapped. To be fair, it wasn't actually something I was all that interested in anyway.

  4. Scrape it, stupid remake won't be a success,..

  5. Why?? The remake will just flop, the original was better.. NBC would be stupid to let this dumb remake air.

  6. I liked the original too, but I'm also a fan of Bryan Fuller's works, so..why not? For me, at least.

  7. Without the original cast who are mostly gone, R.I.P. it didn't stand a chance. The Munsters was a one time thing.

  8. Anything that's a reboot of anything should not even be in development. I want original TV. If I 50 years from now read the title "NBC to remake "24"," then a lot of my faith in original content on television disappears. Even with shows I don't want cancelled, it would be a better idea to bring back the original show - alongside the original actors - instead of rebooting everything with brand new people. I know that's not always a possibility, but if it's not possible to bring back the original, then I don't think it should be possible to make a reboot. Just my thoughts.

  9. Well, they had great people involved in it. If NBC had put as much effort in something more original it could work.
Even though I wasn't really sure about this, I must say I was kinda looking forward to some Pushing-Daisies inspired monsters with Portia de Rossi.

  10. The reboot will just flop, it's stupid and the thought that this guy wanted to do a reboot is dumb. Couldn't he come up with something original than another remake

  11. Not at all, this was a bad mistake.. No one could replace the original actors, the new people would be terrible

  12. I wasn't focusing on it being a remake, rather than being a bit glad to have something from Bryan Fuller more similar to Pushing Daisies in style.
I am usually against remakes, but I try to remain open minded if the people involved are good and they are good in what they do.

  13. I thought it was reported last week that NBC definitely wasn't going forward with this reboot.

  14. I wasn't really on board with this at first but they had some great actors in it so I am a little sad it won't be happening even if I knew it would be a mess.

Bryan still has the Hannibal series which again shouldn't work but is winning me over with the talent involved, hopefully that will be a success commercially and creatively.

  16. I think it would probably be far less than 50 years.
