In an interview with EW, Josh Radnor shares his ideas about the casting of the mother.
I don’t think it should be any sort of stunt casting,” Josh Radnor told EW while we were on set last week. “I think it would be more interesting to have this fresh, exciting face that Ted has never seen before and neither have people who watch the show.”
Radnor said he’s not privy to how the moment the show’s been leading up to for over seven years will unfold, but he likes it that way.
“It’s kind of better for me not to know. It serves me to be a little more naïve and just play that truthfully,” he said.

I have to agree with Radnor. I'm against stunt casting for the mother, as it would be too obvious. But seriously, I've forgotten about the mother by now. She is like some mythological creature by now...
ReplyDeletei also really feel about her that way.... bt i am still exited to see how they handle the casting
ReplyDeleteits not like they can put on megan fox as the big stunt :p
tht would be stupid
Yep, I'm still curious even though I watch the show for the comedy itself. I hope they nail the casting and that the mother is perfectly cast. After all, they've had almost a decade to cast her :)
ReplyDeletei think they are gonna cast someone with experience and has done a lot of work
ReplyDeletebut she has a low profile in the media... they way the fan will get to know a unfamiliar face and at the same time a well experienced actor
Hopefully. I'd love someone as likeable as Kate Mara or Ashley Williams. They are instantly likeable.
ReplyDeletethey are bt sad about Ashley Williams
ReplyDeleteshe doesn't get to be the mother... i really like her
I agree about not stunt casting the role but that would be in direct opposition to HIMYM's casting track record. In other words, it's a nice thought but I wouldn't hold my breath.
ReplyDeleteKate Mara would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, I am just hoping that maybe Josh heard something about it not being a case of stunt casting. I'd appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I was happy yet disappointed that she is Victoria.
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice and, since the show doesn't need the ratings boost, maybe they'd actually consider it.
ReplyDeleteAnd Kate Mara kinda looks like Joanna Garcia (Maggie, from "the window is open"), who was a long time Ted crush.
ReplyDeleteChyler Leigh
ReplyDeleteId actually really like that.
