Is it me or a lot less people is watching tv this year? Hope Elementary do well, as a hardcore Sherlock Holmes fan, i kinda like this new and fresh take(only if they kept their relationship as it is); here hoping they introduce Irene Adler as a character, always thought that Doyle could have done a great stories with that character, beside "Scandal...". ABC is having a great downfall with their dramas, don't they? I mean, Castle is down(well, not that much actually, it used to pull 2.0 and 2.2 on a normal episode), and new shows like Last Resort are in 1.9 in their first steps, not good :/ A network that went up this year is NBC, with Revolution and Go On and i think Community will do awesome on fridays.
I don't understan what estimates are these. Are they still top25 markets? The ones from yesterday were spot on for all the shows but the neighbours which was heavily inflated on those early ones. This being said, 1.9 is about what I expected for Last Resort, even though I was trying to hold some optimism and hoping for an increase, but I knew it would be unlikey. As for Elementary, that's still very solid, especially for a 10pm drama and seeing how poorly all 10pm dramas have been doing. I prefer to wait for finals though, at least until i undestand where are these early estimates coming from.
this is based on calculations based on the average % it fell in households and other numbers from last week usually ends up accurate or v small difference
Last Resort is a good show that scares Americans. I bet it really scares the government. I bet the government has ordered its termination so the numbers are being manipulated. I mean, this show has everything that makes a good show and yet it got horrible ratings.
The thing with this deathslot is that it just shouldn't be used to launch dramas, but instead for an old, established drama with a loyal fanbase. Modern Family pulls ratings even higher than those from the big bang theory and X-Factor is still on at the time. Yet, Criminal Minds is a very well rated drama competing directly against it. I think the difference is that it already was so before Modern Family became a hit in that timeslot. Launching a drama there though, that's just too damn hard.
Nashville seems like a good pair for DWTS next Season(if it does well, of course). I'm asuming that abc will have a lot of new dramas next season(maybe they'll order a 13 or 10 episodes final season of Castle for mid season, i kinda liked the show when i saw it on Netflix, i would't mind getting a proper closure)... PS: What's Red Widow about? Is the Marvel's Shield series of abc?
That's what I said. No other dramas. The slot right now has one 1/2 hour comedy to compete with as a serious contender, so a good drama should pull in the people who are wanting drama. They exist, they show up for POI and Grey's and Elementary. I'm saying it's not a deathslot for drama, it's an open playing field for drama.
While I do agree in theory, there are like 5 dramas that ABC has tried there in the last 3 years, all of which bombed. While some of them didn't have, indeed, quality, I think it's safe to say there is a problem with the timeslot. Also, you can't just put it that way. It's not like there are people who only watch dramas and only watch sitocms and only watch reality. X Facto and Big Bang Theoory are bigger threats to a drama than any other two dramas would be most likely.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Not looking good for Last Resort :(
ReplyDeleteLast resort was sooo good! What the hell is happening?

ReplyDeleteOk, thanks for the response. I was just wondering where did it come from. Yesterday it was indeed pretty accurate. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteBeing against The Big Bang Theory and X Factor didn't help it...
ReplyDeleteBesides Last Resort, how many new dramas does ABC pretends to launch this Season?
ReplyDeleteJust "Nashville" in the fall
ReplyDeleteThen the midseason stuff: Red Widow, Zero Hour, and Mistresses,
Nashville and Red Widow have the potential of saving their season...
About what I would expect for both give or take a tenth of a point.
ReplyDeleteMistresses is for the summer. Unless everything goes really south during season and they have to launch during spring.

Problem is not Last Resort. The show is good, but its competing against the X-Factor, 30 Rock, and the Big Bang Theory
ReplyDeleteRed Widow is based on a Dutch series.

ReplyDeleteBut there are no other dramas in the slot to compete with? Doesn't Thursday night have the highest TV viewership of the week?
ReplyDeleteThat's true...
ReplyDeleteForgot Thursday Night Football...
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean? On the main 4, Last Resort is indeed the only drama compeeting at that time
