Cablevision Systems and AMC Networks announced today they have settled all litigation with Dish Network. Settlement includes new longterm agreement for Dish to resume carriage of AMC Networks including AMC, IFC, Sundance Channel and WE TV. AMC will return today on Dish channel 131. The other networks will return November 1. That’s good news for Dish subscribers who missed watching The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Mad Men and other AMC shows because Dish had dropped the networks back in June. Dish had maintained pubicly it was a carriage fee dispute, but Cablevision-AMC Networks said it really was because of a $2.4 billion breach of contract suit over the satcaster’s decision to drop the now-defunct VOOM Channels that were included as part of AMC Networks spinoff from Cablevision into a separate company.

u mean that DISH is coming back to AMC, right.....u know the Millions $ they have been Losing not being able to broadcast AMC tv shows......☺.....
ReplyDeleteahah what the walking dead does ;)
ReplyDeleteI went on DiSH's Facebook page, and laughed so hard. All the hate comments from DiSH subscribers turned into Thank you notes today. There wasn't a single comment about anything else, just Thank you notes and happy people getting their Walking Dead back.
ReplyDeleteI meant that AMC will now be available for Dish Subscribers.
ReplyDeleteThe Walking Dead was definitely the final nail in the coffin. They were losing too much money.
ReplyDeleteHope you are talking about Dish. Walking Dead had a 5.8 in 18-49. I believe that was the highest rating for a tv season all season so far. No show will probably match that this year.
ReplyDeleteI also think that had this happened last week, we would be looking at something higher than 6.0 for the walking dead. It's definetely a possibility for the finale though
ReplyDeleteI was obviously talking about Dish yeah. AMC has been just fine even without them.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not happy. I can pay the exact same amount (or actually, slightly less) I do to dish switching to U-Verse and I'd get more than a "free preview event" of the walking dead... Shopping around I saw that AMC is included automatically in most other providers' packages that are comparable to the one I have. I'd have to go up another payment tier again to hit AMC... It's why I never get to see Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and The Walking Dead while everyone else is watching it.
ReplyDeleteI am seriously giving it thought to change providers. I may give Dish a phone call in a few days.
Just give them a call and tell them why you are leaving. I did that to DirecTV and got three new boxes with remotes and a DVR. I didn't have to yell or threaten or anything. I did make sure to call the corporate office, though.
ReplyDelete5.8? Whoah, I've never heard of such high rating. I didn't even know AMC existed until 3 years or so ago. I didn't know it was that well known/watched.
ReplyDeleteBut will they rebroadcast Hell on Wheels 2nd season seeing as how we managed to miss the entire thing. I actually bought the first season DVD and would love to watch it on AMC now that I can if they'd re-run the season. Anybody know if that will happen?
