Supernatural - Ultimate Episode Round 3F - Polls
Sep 17, 2012
Polls SupernaturalWe're one day closer to crowning a winner and A Very Supernatural Christmas and Lucifer Rising will be moving on to round 4 having defeated Time After Time and Weekend at Bobby's. Today is the toughest day for me because it contains 3 of my favorite episodes. This is by far the most competitive section of the brackets and it will be sad to see one worthy contender leave the contest too early. But the tournament must go on so happy voting and don't forget to nominate your favorite quotes from The Rapture.

This is a very tough round for me because I adore 3 of the 4 episodes. Lazarus Rising, What is and What Should Never Be, and Faith are all Supernatural at its very best. If it were up to me they would all be in the Final Four. Unfortunately that is not to be. Therefore, Lazarus Rising gets my vote over Appointment in Samarra, although it is a good episode too. Lazarus Rising is my favorite premiere and since that includes In My Time of Dying that's saying something. The other poll is heartbreaking. Both are amazing from start to finish. Both have some of the best song-to-scene music around. Both have great character development and touching brother moments. Both are episodes I turn to time and again. In the end I go with What is and What Should Never Be but Faith should be moving on also. I would have voted for it if it had come up against any other episode.
ReplyDeleteLazarus Rising is the best season opener. No contest there.
ReplyDeleteSecond poll: What is and What Should Never Be. Could have choose the other episode.
Lazarus Rising is the most epic episode of SPN to me. So riveting from start to finish. It skyrocketed my expectations for the rest of season 4, but the rest was not as great I'm afraid, still, it's probably the best premiere of any show I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteThe second poll is extremely tough. Two great episodes with amazing performances by Jensen. And two very bitter endings too. I'll wait a few hours to make up my mind.
In the first poll I voted for Lazarus Rising. The second poll was extremely hard for me to choose. I love both of those episodes! I decided to vote for What Is And What Should Never be.
ReplyDeleteDitto. :)
ReplyDeleteThis one was a no brainer for me. Lazarus Rising and What is. Both in my top ten, this going to end up rough at the end. lol The only ep I have watched more than Swan Song is Lazarus Rising, love the start with just Dean and his facial expressions, getting to meet Castiel, finding out Sam is using his powers, from start to finish a winner for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat Is and What Should Never Be was heart breaking to watch, knowing how much Dean wanted his family to be OK, mowing the lawn and just being normal. The courage it took to break out of that, so sad.
Easy vote on the first poll, Lazarus Rising all the way. I am indifferent at best about Appointment in Samarra, but Lazarus Rising is in my Top 5. Love it. It's the perfect season premiere.
ReplyDeleteSecond poll is so much harder!! I love both eps, and they're both in my Top 10. And...since Faith is currently losing, I'll vote for it. Faith was the episode that captured the last little bit of my heart that was still indifferent to the show when I started watching. And I love seeing Sam take care of Dean; he acts just as a little brother would - desperate but not in a bad way. I just love the guys' dynamic in Faith!!
What is and What Should Never Be is a friggin' amazing episode too, and I love it on par with Faith. Honestly I'll be thrilled no matter what wins here.
Appointment and Faith for me. Lazarus Rising was an absolutely incredible season opener, but it didn't hold for me when I re-watch the episode. WiaWSNB is about the same. Incredibly moving the first time through... but I started skipping it after the 3rd watch. I don't dislike it by any stretch of the imagination... there is just no excitement / action and the brother moments are lacking and "fake". I hate the way Dean sees himself ("Yep, that sounds like me"); it is totally depressing.
ReplyDeleteAhhh I LOVE ALL these episodes!
ReplyDelete1. Lazarus Rising- By far my most favorite premiere. Hugs, action, mystery, some comedy, Pamela, Castiel's awesome entrance, it's got it all!
I love Appointment In Samarra with Dean paying the doctor to temporarily kill him so he can talk to Death, and Dean taking over Death's role for the day. Death and Tessa are always fun to see and watch. I just love how they're neither good nor bad, reapers and Death are always interesting. I like Tessa too because it seems she can sympathize while being a reaper just doing her job.
2. What Is And What Never Should Be- Was great seeing what could have been. Loved the scenes of Dean finding Mary alive, mowing the lawn, his girlfriend Carmen, Jessica, Dean going to visit John's grave, Sam tagging along with Dean to the building the jinn was at, and real Sam saving Dean.
Faith had some awesome brother moments, but not quite as entertaining and heartbreaking (yikes, figure of speech) as WIAWNSB.
these are all great episodes!but now that i'm forced to choose between them i'm going to go with lazarus rising and what is and what should never be!
ReplyDeleteThere aren't many doubts here as to which eps. will win the poll, going by the first results.
ReplyDeleteI love all four of these episodes for different reasons.
LR is just so full of goodies and the episode would get my vote alone just for the wonderful intense long-drawn out hug between the brothers.
I love how Dean brushes past Ruby in his anxiety to get to Sam and then the expressions on first Dean's then Sam's face are tear-jerking, so much so that the hard-man Bobby even has a little moisture in his eye.
Best hug ever.

In AIS we see how Dean wants Sam's soul back so badly that he is willing to die again, in order to plead with Death to get it back.
Great episode with a nice hug but it can't compare to the LR one.
Although I would like to give my vote to the losing episode, I just can't vote against LR.

WIAWSNB is another wonderful episode.
It has so many interesting ingredients too; Alternate Universe, getting to see the brothers in another life-style; getting to see Mary and Jess again, and the scene in the car with Sam not understanding the "bitch" joke and Dean throwing his phone out the window was so cute. Great episode.

Faith too is a wonderful episode.
We see how Sam goes all out to save his brother, even to threatening the man who sent him to the faith healer if it turns out that he cant help Dean.
Sam does not know that to save Dean someone else has to die but in the end he's even all right with it, for to save Dean he would sacrifice anyone and anything, as would Dean for Sam.
John however really paints a bad picture here, as not even the fact that Dean is dying makes him pick up the phone and ask about him.
Then "Don't Fear The Reaper" is one of my favourite songs and so right for the episode.
I'm going to vote for Faith at this point as I'm sure WIAWSNB will win the poll without a problem anyway
Nothing really memorable for me in this episode although it was interesting to find out how angels found vessels.

Quotes:-
I love it when Dean finds new names for Sam. :)
"Anna: You let Jimmy get away?
Dean: (about Sam) Talk to Ginormo here."
X
"Dean: Cas, hold up. What were you going to tell me?
Castiel: I learned my lesson while I was away, Dean. I serve Heaven, I don't serve Man. And I certainly don't serve you."
