Bonus: Caption This - I saw this picture (also from Home of the Nutty) and laughed, which I sorely needed. If you didn't know what it was a picture of, there could be a lot of great possibilities. Therefore as a little fun to end round 2, caption this picture as something completely outside of this episode. Be creative but remember this is a fairly family friendly site.

Another easy day of voting for me although I won't be upset no matter which ones win. Each poll is fairly equal to me. In the first one I choose Born Under a Bad Sign. Yes it was slow in parts but Jared did a great job in this one, and it was the first time I truly enjoyed Jo. There were some good brother scenes too. Hell House was fun during the prank wars and it was the Ghostfacers at their least annoying, which granted is not saying much. Plus it had the brothers laughing together at the end. Loved that. Basically this poll can go either way for me but BUaBS gets it based on Ghostfacers penalty points.
ReplyDeleteMy second vote goes to Tall Tales. Yeah I know Point of No Return was a huge mytharc episode. I know it is the celebrated 100th episode and I shouted with glee along with everyone else when Dean stabbed Zachariah. Was there anyone who didn't? But I also know that the majority of this episode was just depressing in a long line of season 4-5 depression. Brothers in despair and giving up are not so rewatchable for me. In contrast, Tall Tales gave us huge belly laughs and introduced the Trickster. How I miss him! We got alien slow dancing to Lady in Red and the he said - he said version of events that I still cannot drink water while watching. My keyboard has been doused too often when I forget. This one is fun and gives us a lot of classic scenes. Today fun wins over depressing with no hesitation. Besides Tall Tales gets bonus Trickster points while Point of No Return gets Adam penalty points.
Point of no Return is one of my favorite episodes.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm also voting Born Under a Bad Sign.
Born Under A Bad Sign, Jared made my day as possessed Sam. The Scene with Jo was so scary and Sam shooting Dean.
ReplyDeletePoint Of No Return, Zachariah killed by Dean, Castiel beats Dean to keep him from saying yes to Michael. Some very good quotes in this one.
LOL at bonus Trickster points vs Adam penalty points. xD
ReplyDeleteBorn Under a Bad Sign, and Point of No Return.
ReplyDeleteBorn Under a Bad Sign has no real intrinsic meaning to me, but I like it more than Hell House, but I also like Hell House well enough. Born Under a Bad Sign is, if I'm not mistaken, the last time we see Jo before she comes back in season 5. Which is unfortunate. That character deserved better than to be treated like that. But both she and Ellen were completely ignored in season 4, so...that was a huge digression. Even though Hell House has the Ghostfacers, it also has the brothers and their practical jokes. Love those scenes a lot. But, BUABS it is.
Point of No Return. I like this episode, but then again I'm a HUGE sucker for Dean angst. HUGE. This episode also see's Sam come into his own as far as growing up and taking the lead, which was huge growth for him. I liked that aspect a lot. And for the 100th episode, I thought it was excellent on the forward momentum of the arc, and I didn't even mind Adam coming back. I didn't hate his existence, but rather found it terribly sad that he was killed (eaten? ew!) by ghouls without ever knowing why...
Tall Tales is fun (especially the POV of each brother when they tell Bobby their tale), but I prefer the angst over the humor this time, too.
I voted for Born Under a Bad Sign and Point of No Return.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you enter your caption for the picture?
ReplyDeleteCome on Tall Tales fans! That's one of my top 10!
ReplyDeleteI'm begining to think its me...I think I just love all episodes... even those that should be easy decisions are hard for me. I really like both episodes, Jared was great in Born Under A Bad Sign, but I also enjoyed meeting the Ghostfacers for the first time, they were a funny bunch... or couple.. since it was just two at the time. I also enjoyed the pranking. I think my vote will have to go for Born Under A Bad Sign... I'm not going to vote on Hell House just because of the Ghostfacers... though the episodes gets some additional points because of the pranking.
ReplyDeleteNo, don't make me choose! Not between these two! They are to different! I lovr Tall Tales, I was laughing from start to finish and I cheered when the Trickster ended up still being alive.Sam and Dean, fighting and making fun of each other? Priceless.. But at the same time, I loved Point of No Return. Sam finally got to be the rock, while Dean was the one who fell (and showed it too) Castiel beating up Dean, and though still furious, sacrifcing himself so the Winchesters could save their brother. The return of Adam! I am so tempted to just.. not vote on this one.... But I won't do that. My vote has to go to.... Point of No Return. I loved that episode, perhaps because I love the whole angst of seasons 4-5 and you don't get more emotion and angst than you do in this episode... though it has a 'happy' ending, Dean ends up not saying yet.
Picture caption: See. I told you Bobby didn't have any hair there.
ReplyDelete1. Born Under A Bad Sign- Possessed!Sam was really creepy in the scene with Jo. And poor Dean, possessed Sam shot him! Love the scenes with Dean and Jo. Also Bobby putting holy water in the beer- that was when he officially became the best ever.
ReplyDeleteHell House had its funny moments, I laughed a lot at the super glue prank and the itching powder prank- oh and the spoon one. XD And the Ghostfacers weren't irritating.
2. Point Of No Return- I consider it my all time favorite episode, so why wouldn't I vote for it? I love the angst, love Sam, Bobby, and Cas trying to stop Dean. Love the brotherly scenes. Love Cas being all moody the whole episode, especially the scene after he teleports Dean to Bobby's at the beginning of the episode. His glaring eyes following Dean made me laugh. XD He's never been more angry. Dean's comments about that were funny too. lol
Also, I did not like the whole 3rd brother thing, but while Adam was young and a bit naive, I liked him. I didn't hold him being the half brother against him though I agree it was something that shouldn't have happened.
I really loved seeing Sam, Dean, Bobby, Cas, and Adam all in the same room.
And they killed Zach. So much fun! :D Though the rest was heart breaking for the most part.
Tall Tales was a pretty good comedy episode, mostly cause it was Gabriel/the Trickster. The rest was alright. Mystery Spot and Changing Channels are way, way better.
My streak came to an end... oh well, moving on... I voted for Born Under a Bad Sign (c'mon, you know I had to, just that Dean quote, 'You had a girl inside..." classic SPN and Point of No Return because Tall Tales while funny just can't hold a candle to Point of No Return in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteRight here. I figure it's easiest for people to just put it in the comments. I'll highlight the best ones in the next couple of days. Can't wait to hear yours.
ReplyDeleteBwah! Love it.
ReplyDeleteI like all of today's choices so picking wasn't easy. I ended up voting for the two more comedic episodes, hell house and tall tales.
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of people hate them but I've always found the ghost facers funny and I loved the pranks that Sam and dean player on each other in hell house.
Now, I know that point of no return was the 100th episode and may have included one of the best moments of season five (dean killing Zachariah) but I just love the trickster and his first episode is no exception. We got slow dancing aliens, an alligator in the sewer, purple nurples and the very different sides of the story told by each brother. I just love tall tales
Oh, Dahne, what am I going to do with you? But it is so true about the Adam penalty points vs. Gabriel's bonus points but you know I love mythology over comedy any day (unless it's Changing Channels, of course).
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm going to do my official ranking of episodes after we finish the quotes nominations and I've been toying with the idea of giving it some kind of points system along with gut feeling. I'll probably end up going straight gut but it would be interesting. Thus far on my penalty points the biggest penalty is boring me follwed by "made me throw something at the screen." The biggest bonus points is for great "little" brother moments, in other words not the big angsty speech ones.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling a lot of comedies will be high on your list. And stuff like AVSC.
ReplyDeleteWhile mine, if I ever am able to make a list, would have Changing Channels and Mystery Spot but a lot of angst/myth-arc episodes (which often go hand in hand on this show).
I wonder how anyone could base quality of an episode without getting their feelings involved. Everyone has so many different opinions. I haven't seen anyone including myself, not base quality on their own definition.
I was just thinking about how a Supernatural quality list would be like. Like if a person kept their emotions out of it.
Probably impossible. XD
'' Zachariah killed by Dean'' ;) I thing you have a little typo here ihih
ReplyDeleteVery easy choices for me :) Bad under a bad sign and Point of no return
ReplyDeleteSex and Violence Quotes:
ReplyDelete15. Dean: "Soda?" Bobby: "You boys are driving ain't ya?" 14. Sam: "You poisoned him." Nick: "No I gave him what he needed and it wasn't some b** in a G-string. It was you, a little brother that looked up to him, that he could trust."13. Benson: "Her name was Jasmine." Sam: "She was a stripper?" Dean: "Dude, her name was Jasmine."12. Dean: "Well they all described their stripper in the same way, the exact same way. Perfect and everything that they wanted." Sam: "Yeah at least until Dream Barbie convinced them to murder their wives." Dean: "There's that."11. Dean: "First it's Madison and then Ruby and now Cara. It's like…what is with you and banging monsters?" 10. Sam: "Come on Dean. Just …just focus on the naked girls. You'll forget he's even there." Dean: "I'm not doing this for you. I'm doing it for the girls."9. Bobby: "Well siren's spell ain't got anything to do with any song. It's most likely some kind of toxin or venom. Something she gets in the vic's blood." Sam: "That makes them go all Manchurian Candidate.8. Sam: "Yeah, get this. 3rd local inside 2 months to gank his wife. No priors on any of them. All happily married." Dean: "Eh sounds like Ozzie and Harriet." Sam: "More like the Shining."7. Sam: "Sirens." Dean: "Like Greek myth siren. The Odyssey. Hey I read."6. Dean: "Strippers, Sammy, strippers. We are on an actual case involving strippers. Finally."5. Cara: "People call it the love hormone. Um you know how it feels when you first fall in love - the whole weak in the knees, tattoo you on my chest thing. That's oxytocin. Of course it eventually fades and then you're stuck with every relationship ever. That and a painful regiment of tattoo removal."4. Sam: "Uh what do you think? She infects the men during sex." Bobby: "Maybe." Dean: "Supernatural STD."3. Sam: "It's more of a beautiful creature that preys on men, entice them with their siren song." Dean: "Let me guess. Welcome to the Jungle. No, no, Warrant's Cherry Pie."2. Sam: "Yeah if you're a siren in '09 looking to ruin a bunch of morons where would you set up shop?"1. Dean: "A hunch? I'm giving you cold, hard facts here. You're giving me a hunch….Did you sleep with her?" Sam: "No." Dean: "Holy cr** you did. Middle of Basic Instinct and you bang Sharon Stone. Sam you could be under her spell right now."
Very difficult choices today, as really like all four episodes and they all have in common the end dialogues which I particularly loved in each of them.

In BUABS, the end punch that Dean threw to Sam was so cathartic for Dean, and Sam' s "What the heck are you punching me" for expression was just perfect. :)
X
In Hell House the shared laugh at the end between the brothers was so sweet,Sam had called Ed pretending to be a a Hollywood producer and Dean had put the dead fish in the back seat. Hilarious.:)
X
In Point of No Return, Sam askes Dean why he changed his mind about being Michael's vessel, and Dean answers that he didn't want to let Sam down. So sweet and brotherly.
X
InTall Tales, apart from all the other goodies, we get the end moment with the brothers all apolgetic with one another over the top of the Impala, interrupted by Bobby's snark comment about how the two of them are breaking his heart! Terrific.
X
Choosing only by virtue of the cutest ending, I vote for Hell House and Tall Tales.

"Sam: You seem pretty cheery.
Dean: Strippers, Sammy. Strippers! We are on an actual case involving strippers. Finally!"
X
"Cara: We've all got our own sad stories so...screw it. Have fun, no regret, and live life like there's no tomorrow."

Way to go Dean but be careful of too friendly FBI agents who have the same identical interests that you have!
X
I second Dr.Cara's quote, and she gave Sam some care-free happy time so thumbs up to her! :)
Damn! Damn! Damn!
ReplyDeleteI confused Born Under a Bad Sign with Born-Again Identity and voted for the Hell House. Obviously, BUBS is one of the best episodes of the entire series and is better than Hell House.
Other poll is quite a difficult one. I moved my cursor at least 10 times from option to option and finally chose Point Of No Return.
All the episodes in above polls are my favorites. Too bad I have to vote against two of them.
Voted for Hell House on poll one, no question for me there! *hint*shirtlessSamandprankwars*hint*
ReplyDeleteBorn Under a Bad Sign - not that I'm a particular fan of this episode, but I hate Ghostfacers sincerely, so there you go.
ReplyDeletePoint of No Return - in Tall Tales I love some moments (the blah blah blah scene, Dean's "I'm a joy to be around" etc.), but some of the stuff is so silly I find it kind of annoying. Plus, unlike most, I've never been a huge fan of the Trickster/Gabriel. Point of No Return on the other hand is probably one of about three season 5 episodes I could vote for. I loved how Sam kept having faith even when Dean completely lost it. I loved Cas's confrontation with Dean and his sacrifice. I loved seing Zachariah dead. I did not love the Adam storyline, it still bugs me, but overall it was a good fast episode and like I said, one of the very few I actually loved in season 5.
I will never be able to make a list with all the eps, just to many of them are equal to me, but my top 20 are the ones I watch the most and get the most laughs or tears, usually tears(sobbing) as those are the kinds of eps I watch more often.
ReplyDeleteI'll be so glad when your season 4 rewatch for quotes are over. You know you promised me you'd not be so grumpy anymore, LOL! I know, believe me, I know about season 4, it was the first season I watched all the way through and had to wait on week to week basis to find out what happened, no instant gratification (or dissatisfaction as the case was about 60% of the time) but I plowed through it, was "rewarded" with season 5, limits sorely tested with season 6 and the threat of my head exploding in every episode after Hello, Cruel World in season 7, so believe me, I get it. I'm so glad White Collar is still on, so you can have something to take your mind off this. Happy thoughts of Winchester hugs and salt and burns!
ReplyDeletewell the first one is an easy one.my votes goes to born under a bad sign.it was awesome to see one of the brothers get possessed.definitely one of my favorite episodes of season 2.the 2nd one is a tough one though.i loved tall tales because we were introduced to trickster/gabriel although we didn't really know who he was and he got away in the end of the episode which was something really rare.point of no return was a great episode too.zachariah finally died and well it was the 100th episode.but now that i have to choose....well my vote goes to tall tales!
ReplyDeleteBorn Under a Bad Sign -- Liked Hell House, quite a lot actually, but BUaBS is calling to me today. The character stuff puts it ahead of the MOWishness of HH.
ReplyDeleteTall Tales is a pretty easy pick today. I had such a great time watching this ep.
My family is also going to be glad when I finish season 4 for quotes. It's been an unbearable weekend and by that I mean me. Only 50 more minutes which should translate into roughly 4.5 hours and I'm free!
