Hey everyone! I'd just like to say that it is truly an honor to be
writing for Spoilertv and I'm thrilled to have a chance to share my
thoughts and opinions about some of my favorite shows. This is a
great place to meet more fans and get involved in lengthy discussions
and debates over everything about tv!
Anyway,
back to the article and what its all about; ever since the CW aired
the Supernatural Season 7 finale in May, I know that all of us having
been anxiously waiting for news about the new season and what we can
hope to see. After all, ending with a cliffhanger like that was no
easy feat to accomplish and every single one of us has been dying to
know more about Dean stuck in Purgatory for a whole
year! Of course the big question on most fans' minds was - "Where
the heck did Castiel disappear off to at the end?" We have
already been teased with a glimpse of Hell back in
Season 3 when Dean dies after being attacked by Hellhounds and the
majority of the plot-line for both Season 6 and Season 7 dealt
with Purgatory and the souls that have been trapped
there for god knows how many centuries! Fans were shown how
the Leviathans, who were imprisoned in Purgatory for
millenia, were unleashed on Earth and the dangers they presented. In
the end, thanks to Dean and Sam along with help from Castiel, Bobby
(Rest In Peace) and even Crowley, Richard 'Dick' Roman was finally
defeated and everyone lived happily ever after! Wait a minute, this
is Supernatural we're talking about, since when has there been a
season finale which ends with 'happily ever after'?
We
did get to see Dean enjoy an 'apple-pie' life with Lisa and Ben at
the end of season 5 and learned that for a whole year Sam and Bobby
decided not to tell Dean that his younger brother had survived
Lucifer's Cage and was back, albeit without a soul for half a season.
It seems as if this time around the roles have been switched and
while Dean has been MIA so to speak, according to what we know, Sam
has found himself a love interest in the form of Amelia (Guest
Star, Liane Balaban) and once again, a whole year has passed since
Dean and Cas disappeared into Purgatory. With less than a month to go
for Season 8, we were finally treated to a minute long trailer only
days ago and fans across the world rejoiced to see Dean and Sam
finally reunite! But is their reunion going to be all about hugs and
handshakes for the Winchesters?
If
you think about it, 3156000 seconds, 5256000 minutes, 870
hours, 365 days, 52 weeks, 1 year has passed by, won't Dean
think that Sam didn't try hard enough to find him? In Sam's defense,
the younger Winchester had no clue where his brother had vanished to!
Snippets from interviews everywhere have said that Sam has given up
hunting entirely and that probably will have created an itch that
needs to be scratched sooner or later. The good news is that Dean and
Sam will jump back into the world of supernatural occurrences in
episode 1 itself, titled "We Need To Talk About Kevin."
Ring a bell? The title obviously refers to Kevin Tran (Osric Chau)
the Prophet who is the only one capable of reading the mysterious
tablet Dean and Sam recovered from Dick Roman, known as the 'Word of
God.' Now it seems that Kevin isn't the only face we'll be seeing
again. Our very own 'love-to-hate' villain Crowley (Mark Sheppard)
seems to be playing the role of one of the Big Bads this season.
Also, Castiel fans will rejoice to learn that Misha Collins is
reported to have signed on for a minimum of 8 episodes this season
(Confetti it's a parade!) and will return to our tv screens in
episode 2, "What's Up, Tiger Mommy?" scheduled to air on
October 10th, though via flashbacks for the moment.
But
that's not all; one of the other big questions a lot of fans have on
their minds is "How does Dean get out of Purgatory?" and
the answer, my friends, lies with a new character - Benny (Ty Olsson)
who appears to be a *cough* vampire *cough* but the question remains
- is he an ally or an enemy to the Winchesters? And last but not the
least, according to the new promo, Prophet Kevin claims that there is
another tablet, another Word of God which - hold on to your desks
everyone! - seems to have a way of 'closing the Gates of Hell *drum
roll* Forever!' (everyone gasp in unison!) It looks
like the new season of Supernatural promises to have a lot of goodies
in store for us, courtesy of the new showrunner Jeremy Carver. So
stay tuned, "Their fates will be written in stone." New
Season, New Night, Supernatural returns to the CW on Wednesday,
October 3rd.

Welcome to the site Anjali . Congrats on your first post :)
ReplyDeleteHello Anjali . Cool name. Where are you from?
ReplyDeleteAnd another great new writer on site! Welcome!
ReplyDeleteI'm so looking forward to the new season.
ReplyDeleteIt's seemed like so long ago we last saw our boys
thanks! its great to be here :)
ReplyDeletehey! thanks, I'm from India! what about you?
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks a lot! its great to be here!
ReplyDeleteI know right? only 20 days to go now!
ReplyDeleteExcellent. I'm still always amazed about how many people from so many different countries meet up here at SpoilerTV.
ReplyDeleteI was born in NY but have lived most my life in London
Great post. I'm really looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's amazing! I actually am visiting my brother in San Francisco since i'm on holiday and i'll be heading back to India next month!
ReplyDeleteWelcome!Great first post!
ReplyDeleteWill you be reviewing the new episodes(when they FINALLY arrive)? In any case,I hope you have a great time over here! : )
hey! thanks, its great to be be here! I do hope that i have the honor of reviewing SPN's episodes! it would be a dream come true! I'll be able to review the first 4 epi's within 3-4 hours since i'm visiting family in the U.S but when i go back to India it might be a bit delayed!
ReplyDeletethanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteSure, you can do reviews as well if you want :)
ReplyDeleteomg! me and review for Supernatural? wow! i would love to! thanks a lot :D
ReplyDeleteThere is (almost) no such thing in SPN fandom as a consensus - so implying there is can be a dangerous and controversial pass time. You say "Of course the big question on most fans' minds was - "Where the heck did Castiel disappear off to at the end?". That is an unprovable statement. Cas's fate certainly wasn't uppermost in my mind as I am fairly indifferent to the character. I know many others who feel the same. And of course there are many that agree with you. Neither of us can prove who has the greater numbers on their side of the debate.
ReplyDeleteYou can hardly ever say 'most SPN fans...' and end that statement accurately or without offending someone, so IMO generalisations are best avoided.
Great,I look forward to reading them then!
ReplyDeleteDon't even think about any delays. For me it makes no difference, since most of the time I get to watch the episode a few hours after it airs.Unless I manage to stay up till 4 in the morning.
Sleep vs Supernatural is always a tough fight!
thanks for your comment, i'm still new at this... my first article actually so i appreciate the feedback and i'll be sure to keep your suggestion in mind!
ReplyDeletehahaha exactly! for me its more about waking up early, around 9 am to see the episode, i'm still on holiday so its hard... but let's see who wins! :p
ReplyDelete"There is (almost) no such thing in SPN fandom as a consensus". Talk about hitting the nail on the head, this show has such a polarizing effect on its' fans. I've been in the middle of Green Bay Packer/Chicago Bear fights for what seems forever but that doesn't rival the vitriol that gets tossed about when fans go keystroke to keystroke about this show. Civil. yes. (Except for when Jared's dog died. Wow.) Energetic. Hell yes.
ReplyDeleteBut the most amazing thing to me is how well the fans know this show inside and out. It is really special.
I think there are a lot of fans who are really dedicated to this show and its amazing to see how much Supernatural has touched all our lives! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Anjali! Are you from India? 'Coz your name sounds Indian! Good article, BTW. Huge Supernatural fan here from India. Namaste
ReplyDeletehey! yes!!! i'm from India, thanks so much! its wonderful to meet another Indian fan! Namaste to you too
ReplyDeleteWhat touched our lives is the brotherly love and family emotions on the show and excellent acting of the leads. But Castiel certainly didn't. I hate the character or any screen time given to him whatsoever. So, I don't mind if he is ripped to shreds by purgatory monsters. I think you are completely wrong by saying that Castiel's fate is what on minds of most fans. I don't think this is true. Most of the fans are actually concerned more about how brothers reunite or what the mytharc of season is going to be. Castiel is just a passing cloud. Not a character to give a damn about.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find one more reviewer, so that this polarization and debates about Castiel can be reduced and actual content of the show can be analysed. Two reviews IMO are definitely necessary for a show like Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteI liked the way it all fit into the Good v Evil theme. I totally blame Stephen King and The Stand for getting me to like G v E.
ReplyDeleteI do like the way his social ineptitude was worked in. Also why I like the character of Dr. Temperance Brennan on Bones.
Often wondered what the two of them would talk about over coffee....
hey guys loving supernatural, im catching up atm just started season 5, and found out that time is kinda slowed in hell like 1 month was like 10 years or something.
ReplyDeletedo you think it the same in Purgatory is 1 year 1 year, or is time also slowed in there. hmm i wonder.
Okay, I have to ask ... what on earth did Cas ever do to you?
ReplyDeleteWelcome Anjali. I look forward to reading your reviews.
ReplyDeleteA new article barely appears and right away there are the Castiel haters to chastise the writer for implying anyone cares about the character. it's interesting that I know both of them personally. KS has made it his job to post this very same hate speech on every forum he finds (tvbythenumbers, IMDB, here, funny thing is he and I are good friends despite being vastly divided on this issue.) geordiegirl1967 is a surprise. I know her from IMDB and never expected such a harsh reaction from her re Castiel, especially toward a new fan/writer.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Anjali. For what it's worth I don't think you were wrong about the big question. Most fans I talked to (Cas fan or not) want to know where he went. More than they want to know about Sam's dog or his girlfriend. If you happen to stay with the show and continue to write for it beware of a few fans who will constantly deny dog you about Castiel/Misha and any claims of his popularity. Don't let them sway you. By no means do they represent the majority of the fandom even though they claim they do. Write whatever you feel like. You're the author and it's your right to state your opinion on matters you believe are true.
Also, great article. Can't wait for Season 8. Something tells me it is going to be a great season finally taking things back to the roots, ie. Team Free Will front and center.
Thank you so much for introducing some Sam hate to complement the Cas hate.
ReplyDeleteThere's no Sam hate. I'm a fan of Team Free Will. Many Sam fans do not care about his new girlfriend so stop stirring the pot and making things up.
ReplyDeleteBut why throw in a dig at Sam's storyline when it wasn't even being discussed? From what I've seen KS Winchester and Georgiegirl1967 are bi-brother more than anything else. I've never seen either express a preference for Sam. And personally I agree with Georgiegirl's post, and I'm about as much of a Cas fan as I am a Sam fan. Her point was that generalizations about what the SPN fandom wants doesn't work because at least half of your audience will disagree.
ReplyDeleteHow do we know half the audience disagrees? The funny thing here is you're claiming I threw a 'dig at Sam' when I was talking about his dog and his gf. Yet you defend KS who openly hates Castiel, and Georgiegirl for saying something that holds as much water as the thing she's criticising. What we all should take note of is that this is Anjali's article. She's the only one who can make any claims. Georgiegirl had no place chastising her for saying something that wasn't rude to anyone and claiming it would "offend someone." How is saying people are curious about something offensive to anyone? This is the attitude that's lately been bothering me in this fandom, that you somehow insult fans if you claim a character is popular.
ReplyDeleteBut since we're on topic, I apologise if I offended anyone by claiming more people care about Castiel than Sam's dog or his unknown girlfriend.
"She's the only one who can make any claims." My point is that no one can make any claims on behalf of the entire SPN fandom without expecting to get some flak from it. Writers of articles aren't immune to disagreement and feedback - that's what the comments section is for. As for KS Winchester, I don't think I defended his comments. I just said I've never gotten the impression he was more of a Sam fan than anything else.
ReplyDeleteBy the way Anjali, welcome to the SPN online fandom. This is your first lesson on how to start a character war.
Well, she did say 'Most' not all.... Castiel has alot of fans,[It is said they he's stayed on the show this long because of fan support] and they were kost likely all wondering that, even people who are not Castiel fans (such as a few of my friends) were wondering why the heck Castiel would just leave Dean. You might not care, but she did not say all.
ReplyDeleteBesides it's nothing to be offended about.
I've said this once, and I can't say it enough. I can't wait for season 8! I hope Castiel is in more than just 8 episodes, and I Really hope all his episodes are not flashbacks. I hope he makes it back to.
ReplyDeletei said 'most' because i didn't want to leave out those fans who do like Castiel, but maybe i should have used another word to describe those fans...
ReplyDeleteI personally feel like that Castiel is a character who has managed to touch a few fans at least... i don't know if there are 12 or 120 but i'm one of them, even if its a minority... everyone is entitled to their opinions and i respect that... i think that @ScottArecentlyfrank:disqus has a nice idea! it would be interesting to see how Bones & Cas would interact with each other!
ReplyDeletethank you so much! I look forward to writing the reviews too!! :D
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone can say it enough times, we all are excited for S8!! it seems that you're a Castiel fan? great to meet you! hahaha... i'm not sure if Cas will be there in more episodes but personally i have to agree, it would be nice to see him out of Purgatory soon too!
ReplyDeleteI think that is a very good question! 4 months for Sam on Earth was 40 years for Dean in Hell so i guess its something to think about if time in Purgatory is similar too!
ReplyDelete@Tessa2222:disqus hey! thanks for the great feedback and i'm glad that you enjoyed the article! I did have the thought cross my mind that i might not write reviews but like you said, i can prepare myself for any Cas/Misha hatred, I am on Team Free Will too... not Team Winchester or Team Cas... it wasn't a generalization really, i personally know at least a dozen fans who wanted to know where Cas had disappeared off to at the end and a lot more fans who weren't really bothered about Cas still asked the same question so i was referring to them.
ReplyDelete@chris684:disqus - Thanks for your feedback too. I wasn't making any claims in my defense, if it seemed that way i just want to clear the air by saying that i didn't.... I have had my share of shipper wars with another tv show so i guess i should have expected this, and don't worry, I'm not going anywhere! If it looks like fans here would like me to review Season 8 then i would be delighted to do so... that said, I won't stop talking about Cas/Misha even if there are people who prefer that i don't, he is part of the story line just like Crowley and the others who are not Sam and Dean and deserves mention in my reviews!
ReplyDeleteInteresting article, welcome Anjali.
ReplyDeleteGreat summary of where we left off and what it appears we will see when season8 premieres. Thanks! I am so excited about the "closing the gates of hell" plot and of course the probability that Crowley is the Big Bad. We need more Crowley screen time.
ReplyDeletethank you for your review!!! i'm excited for the same plot as well and what it can mean for the brothers! more Crowley is always welcome too! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about this too. For some reason I think it will be closer to earth time but I have no idea why.
ReplyDeleteAre you a Cas fan?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm a Castiel fan, I couldn't ignore someone that was sjuch good friends with Dean.
Yeah, I hope he makes it out of Purgatory, I fear they may leave him there, or that Dean might say he didn't make it. [I don't think Purgatory is a safe place with people of unstable minds]
Glad to know you're a Cas fan too! i hope that he gets out soon! any news that i hear i'll be sure to let you know! :)
ReplyDeletehey! thanks a lot! glad to be here!
ReplyDeleteYeah, always nice to meet another Cas fan!
ReplyDeleteCool, thanx.
Hi, I'm not trying to be difficult, but it wasn't just the Cas comment. You also said "every single one of us has been dying to know more about Dean stuck in Purgatory." Again, not true. A part of the fandom cares, but other parts are more interested in other parts of the story.
ReplyDeleteah yes, i noticed that... thanks for pointing it out, i'll be sure to fix that in my other reviews!
ReplyDeleteJust a quick look into how my mind works: How does one stay in a place like Purgatory and NOT lose a bunch of weight? Really. No Twinkies or Bacon Dogs down there.
ReplyDeleteSoul Jerky have a bunch of calories?
I see it didn't take long for the gloves to come off.
ReplyDeletePeople are having the same issue with Dean's hair. Maybe because he was not dead in Purgatory his body just stopped changing and he was in like a ghost state. I mean if soulless Sam didn't need to sleep which is a physical impossibility, perhaps Purgatory Dean has similar physical consequences. It will be interesting to see if he had to eat in Purgatory. I wonder if Benny has to eat in Purgatory too.
ReplyDeleteOf course not. It wouldn't be a Supernatural end-of-hellatus if they didn't. Usually I get bothered by this kind of thing but I have a friend who would say pop the popcorn and grab a seat, the show is just about to begin. I'm finding her philosophy is a lot more fun.
ReplyDeleteI think that if you've been part of this fandom long enough you realize that things like discussions and debates about many issues will be certain to take place...
ReplyDeleteWhether you like it or not, Castiel is a part of the show. You can't honestly review the show and never mention him. Honestly the attitude regarding Castiel around here is getting ridiculous. Many people have stopped coming to this site because people like you think they own the show and are going to dictate even how it is talked about by reviewers and TV writers. If they even mention Castiel in a neutral way, there's drama. People are allowed to talk about Castiel and even like him, and that does not mean that there needs to be special reviews with no Cas mentions just so that irrational haters can live in some kind of Cas free fantasy world.
ReplyDeleteI honestly do not see "Sam hate" in this comment. I've read it like four times. She critiqued a particular storyline (as many Sam fans have already done), she did not hate on the character.
ReplyDeleteI really couldn't have said it better myself @katyggls:disqus. I'm not going to leave Cas out of my reviews because he is part of the show and the story too. I respect people's opinions but if they don't want to read about Cas they don't have to read my reviews...
ReplyDeleteHer article mentions all the other stuff that's going on, not just Cass.
ReplyDeleteAnd my guess is, if there's a debate about Castiel, it'll be because you started it, just like you did now.
" People can actually be friendly here if you stay away from the hot topics."
ReplyDeleteSo basically, you have to pretend that a) you don't like/care about Cas and b) that nobody in the fandom cares about him either in order to fit in here?
LOL I'd love that. Bones and Cas are so similar sometimes. If only they were on the same network they're could be a crossover. :P
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you send him to that show and cure our show from Cancer of Castiel?
ReplyDeleteDo they did someone take a consensus ?.Dog /Girlfriend I am interested in any story that is done for Sam with his pov .And considering the show threw away Sam's cage sl and have cut him out of Purgatory then dog and girlfriend is what Sam has got what any of it does for him? is a separate question .
ReplyDeleteAs for Cas never been a fan but do appreciate others like him .
That's nice. I don't really care though.
ReplyDeleteI have got my own reasons to hate Castiel and they are definitely good ones.
ReplyDeletewhat on earth did Cas ever do to you?
He ruined a perfectly good show. I personally believe, if writers can think at least at this point of time beyond relationships and heeding fan girl requests, this show can be huge.
I have been told that i am negative about season eight so I'm going to go the whole way and say that as far as the gates of Hell are concerned, I hope they never close them!
ReplyDeleteWhat would SPN be without demons running around!
I'm sure that the brothers' efforts in trying to do so will be interesting but "Long live Crowley and his Demons," otherwise all we have left are the Angels and they just don't have the snarky sense of humour that the demons have! :)
Oh this is my philosophy as well :) It is a wonderful one to have especially in the SPN fandom and the helltus
ReplyDeleteAnjali- welcome :) I have to wish you good luck since you've decided to tackle the giant beast that is SPN ;P
ReplyDeleteAs for the new season-- I'm always on the fence about it and my philosophy is just to wait and see what happens....
As Geordiegirl1967 has already described, it's better if you avoid generalization of things. Especially these days, there is not such thing besides Impala which "Most SPN fans like..."
ReplyDeleteWe had a discussion on IMDB board, and I posted angels are worst creatures on the show ever. I also had a good points to support my statement.
ReplyDeleteI love demons a lot. They are the best creatures on the show. Especially their catchy dialogues like "Denim wrapped nightmares!" always amused me. The episode need not be great, but the way demons speak would certainly entertain you.
Mmm. For me the demons are way more interesting than the angels who don't have a sense of humour at all, except perhaps those who have been around humans for centuries like Trickster/Gabriel.
ReplyDeleteIf, as Castiel said, that Uriel was the funniest angel around, then I would hate to think about the less funny ones!
The angels always think they are right, and that their way is the best.
The demons are so much more amusing, especially the evil ones.-- Azazel, Alastair, Meg, Crowley, Casey, all the crossroad demons who had such great chemistry with Dean, etc, etc. :)
I have watched seasons 1-3 many times, but season 4 many more times, mostly because of Cas and the Demon/Angel arc. It took nothing away from the Winchesters, but added a new layer that I love. Misha has great chemistry with them and I don't care what character he has played I enjoy it. Of course Cas is my favorite, but loved Jimmy and hippie Cas also. Lazarus Rising is my second favorite ep, the start with Dean digging out of his grave, the Sam/Dean hug and meeting Cas, the whole ep was perfect. So count me as another huge Cas fan.
ReplyDeleteStay away from hot topics??? Then what could be written? Every thing is a hot topic on this forum. I do love it and enjoy reading all comments. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's a tired argument that no one cares about Sam's storylines, which the Sam haters pull out everytime a spoiler comes out about Sam. Since we know next to nothing about Sam's girlfriend and dog at this point, the implication is that the problem isn't with the characters, it's that no one cares about Sam. I read a lot more hate into that comment than georgiegirl's suggestion that the writer isn't speaking for the entire fandom in stating his/her preferences.
ReplyDeleteYes, Team Free Will. I did not even vote in the poll on which character was my favorite because I don't have one. But am looking forward to seeing more of Sam's Australian Shepherd, love that breed. At least I am hoping that is what it is from the picture sure looked like an Aussie.
ReplyDeleteI didn't say that at all. Anyone can write anything they want, but some topics are almost guaranteed to generate a lot of heat. It's not just Cas, it's the role of angels in general, any kind of Sam vs. Dean argument, Amy, John, and oddly enough Missouri, to name a few. I touch upon those topics quite often but I always go in expecting some heat.
ReplyDeleteCastiel has a huge amount of fans or he would not have won the best character poll.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I have my popcorn.
ReplyDeleteOn internet (only).
ReplyDeleteinteresting questions about Dean there, I wonder if all the secrets about what happened in Purgatory are to do with these things? I assume he got up to some very questionable things there just so he could survive?
ReplyDeleteshe made an assumption about the fandom in general, which yes isnt smart with THIS fandom but sometimes its easier to just lump everyone in together when witing an article like this. At the end of the day she is a reviewer who will only give HER opinion on things, doesnt mean you have to agree with anything she says and I doubt she would expect you to. The article was written from her own POV, she generalised her own thoughts but I doubt she meant to offend anyone.
ReplyDeletewho is Bones?
ReplyDeleteShould we debate the merits of licorice and settle in to watch the show together? I by the way am pro-licorice.
ReplyDeletesome people get offended when people generalise, seems silly to be arguing over it.
ReplyDeleteWe dont know how many fans Cas has, but from what I've seen and with ratings and such I'd say they are a respectable number that dont appear to impact ratings but are very loud and opinionated. Who cares how many fans he has? If you're a fan you're a fan does it matter if you're only 1 of 2 or 200? Same as if you're not a fan.
OH please, I stopped watching Bones, because no one can be that clueless and still be living. :) At least Cas has a good reason, being an Angel and he has never been that bad, yes he does not understand Dean's one liners, but that just makes him more fun.
ReplyDeletebullshit there is no evidence to say he has a huge number of fans or not. For one thing alot of these fans polls are multiple voting polls so we dont know how many people actually voted. Secondly there is no dicernable evidence based on ratings to help provide the evidence. All we have is a group of wuite loud and proud fans on the net which is unlikey to be a true indictor as to how many fans he really has?
ReplyDeleteAbove all, I need male reviewers.
ReplyDeleteKSits a review written from one fans POV no one is making you read it nor is anyone asking you to agree with it.
ReplyDeleteI choose not to read reveiws on certain sites becuase the reveiwers have quite obviosu bias aginst Sam and for Dean and Cas. They are obviously fans and write their own opinion. On the other hand there are places I can go where I can read a more fair assessment of an episode, which is what I like. More importantly the only opinion that matters to me is my own.
LOL, you can have my licorice, I am with Dean on this one. OK it was Dean that said it was made out of mud?? right?
ReplyDeleteSorry that poll was one vote only.
ReplyDeleteif Cas is in an episode and does something that needs to be written about then you're gonna write about him like you would any character. I mean you'll have to write about Kevin and Crowley and Amelia which I'm sure will offend some fans. Just write honest reviews and ignore people who complain, after all its your opinion and you arent asking people to agree with you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck you are going to need it trust me
Hi and welcome!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely looking forward to seeing how the Purgatory storyline unfolds, especially what Dean went through. I'm also looking forward to seeing Dean and Castiel in Purgatory. This storyline has so much potential to be so great, if handled correctly (i.e. better than the Hell storylines were handled, in my opinion).
I don't think there is a single unbiased reviewer. I hardly read reviews. I believe I've read 6-8 reviews so far since the beginning of the show. I never bothered to read them because most of them show bias towards some character or the other. Anjali, seems to be an obvious fan of Castiel and that was made clear by reading first few sentences of her review. And hence, I suggested one more reviewer who can actually write a different version, because the fandom is vertically split into two. That was more of a suggestion to SpoilerTV than anything else to make the website look better.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, I am more of a brotherly love fan than a Castiel hater.
Anjali, maine kabhi nahi bola not to mention about Castiel. I already said I liked your version. The only thing I didn't agree is you using the word "most".
ReplyDeleteFan base of Supernatural is very vibrant. And fandom is vertically split into two. I said two reviews are required, because you seem to be a fan of Castiel. I didn't find a single neutral reviewer and I don't think there can ever be one. Me asking for one more reviewer has got nothing to do with you or your review in particular. That was more of a suggestion based on my experience with SPN fandom and more accurately, I am just suggesting to add a little spice to the sugar and make the website look more good.
Mujhe maaf kar do, if you are hurt. And let me tell you, my comments got even more highlighted because of the replies I got.
again doesnt prove anything, not all Cas fans would have voted, the poll was not voted for by everyone on the planet, we dont know how many fans of the other contestants are online/voted/know about these polls or even care. You cant make assumptions based on these kinds of polls. What you can gather from it is that more Castiel fans voted for him than fans of the other contestants. Its like saying 10 people voted, Cas got 6 so he won does that mean Cas has 6 fans? What about the fact that less than 2 million people watch SPN where as 20 million watch NCIS, surely all these polls tell us is that there happen to be more SPN or in this case Cas fans online than of other shows/characters? The online SPN fandom does not represent/equal the entire SPN fanbase same for any other show. Perhaps Cas appears so popluar in comparison to other tv characters because Cas fans have more time on their hands, care more about online polls etc?
ReplyDeleteyou are riight nowdays there is hardly ever review that is unbiased in any way. These people that chose to write reviews of certain shows do so because they ususally like the show.
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest that you write your own review in the comment section here every week.
While I think that Cas has a large fan base, these online polls don't tell you much other than the current level of emotion of online fans. In the case of the Character Cup, Cas fans were much more motivated to campaign for Cas than Sam or Dean fans were at that time because Cas was in danger of being written off the show. If you have a fan with about 1000 friends on Facebook, and that fan begs their followers to vote for the character because he's in danger of being written off the show - even if only 10% of the followers vote, that means 100 people who likely don't even watch the show will be voting for the character
ReplyDeleteIn addition, a lot of people who do watch the show said they were voting for Cas over Dean because Cas needed the vote more than Dean did at the time. And there were some people who just wanted to vote against Dean because the competition followed the Amy episode, and people were upset with Dean at the time.
Comparing CW rating with CBS is like apples and oranges..does not compute.
ReplyDeleteSpeak for yourself. I find the brotherly relationship to be the worst part of the show now. I care way more about Castiel getting out than finding that once again Sam ditched Dean and had fun while Dean paid the price just like Flagstaff.
ReplyDeleteDon't let yourself be bullied by KS Winchester. There are a lot of Castiel fans.
ReplyDeleteif you keep insisting that you can't say most, then nobody should say that "most" people like Sam or care about his storylines either.
ReplyDeleteSarcasm?
ReplyDeleteEven a few fans aren't, I'm interested in what happens to Dean and Castiel. And I'd like Dean's storyline to actually GO somewhere this time.
ReplyDeleteI am not bullying her or something. Kindly drop such harsh terms. I agree there are lot of Castiel fans and there are lots of people who don't like the character too. I said, not to generalize things. There is hardly anything on the show these days, which most fans agree.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I am anti-licorice, but pro-Junior Mints.
ReplyDeleteEven I agree, brotherly relationship in not in its glory days currently on the show. That doesn't mean, they can replenish all the glory to the show using Castiel. I strongly say, there are many other things, besides brotherly love and Castiel that can be explored and this show can be huge. IMO, writers are confining themselves to smaller issues on the show.
ReplyDeleteSure, they could by actually focusing on Dean for once since he's supposed to be a lead. Getting rid of Castiel only takes something away from Dean and makes Dean have to focus all his attention and energy on Sam again, which does his character absolutely no good especially with Sam preferring the company of a young lady who didn't pull him out of the cage.
ReplyDeleteTell me I'm wrong to be scared...I think they are just building Crowley up to kill him off. Like the witch fattening up Hansel and Gretel. I scares me. We lost Trickster and
ReplyDeleteBalthazar. There won't be any funny ones left! But it's an unfounded fear, right???
Not impact ratings
ReplyDeleteLast time I checked, Born-Again Identity was the least rated episode in the history of the show.
very loud and opinionated.
I feel other way round about Cas fans.
If you're a fan you're a fan does it matter if you're only 1 of 2 or 200? Same as if you're not a fan.
I agree with this.
Let me tell you, your thinking is confined to just who takes care of whom. I want Supernatural to go beyond this level. I am fed up of writers digging deep and deep into characters and I would rather prefer, if they focus to explore good myth-arc. I am perfectly fine because this show has focused enough on characters.
ReplyDeleteOr Dean thats the point it is called diversity. As some Dean and Castiel fans cant claim people only watch for them and nobody cares about Sam when obviously that isnt the case t is a argument that only ends up going around in circles and leads nowhere..
ReplyDeleteWelcome Anjali! I'm definitely looking forward to the new season to see what's in store for both brothers, as well as Castiel. And this new Benny character sounds really interesting as well. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, for the very little it can be worth, is that Sam and Dean can be compared to the main course on the dinner table, some may prefer white meat and some red, but the main course remains the main course whatever your preference; and all the other characters take the form of the side plates..
ReplyDeleteX
That's the way the show was constructed from the very first episode and for me it hasn't changed a whit since then, no matter what has happened or what dramas and angst the writers have put the brothers through.
And did Dean not have the company of a young woman and her son ?.Why is it so wrong for Sam who has literally been to hell and back himself to seek some sort of peace in his life why is it so different or is it a case of it is ok for Dean but Sam is a coward for doing the same..And has we dont know wether Sam didnt try to get Dean out then your jumping the gun in the whole Sam doesnt care about Dean thread of your argument..
ReplyDeleteinteresting way of looking at it, I agree Sam and Dean are the meat
ReplyDeleteInteresting question. On the recent promo they list 5256000 minutes, which is 10 years but then follow it with 52 weeks, which is one year. Either somebody made a type and added a 0 or time in Purgatory is 10 to one on earth. If it has been 10 years in Purgatory, boy does Dean age well. I hope it's not 10 to 1 because of aging issues, hair length issues, etc.
ReplyDeleteI could buy the 40 years to 1 month for Hell because Dean's soul was there, not his body. We never got a statement from Sam on how Cage time passed, but his body was only there for a couple of days max, so his body would only have aged a year of two and that isn't always noticeable.
Except for the fact that she did not say "nobody cares about Sam storylines". She said that many people don't care about Sam having a girlfriend or a dog, a sentiment which I've seen expressed a lot by Sam fans themselves since the spoilers started coming out. Honestly I think if you read character hate in this comment and not in the other one, your perspective seems a bit skewed.
ReplyDeleteLOL yes. You certainly seem like the one person in the entire fandom that is completely unbiased.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Glad that I don't see you usually spoilerTV and I hope it remains the same in future too.
ReplyDeleteIn Hell he was just a soul. Presumably souls don't eat or age change? But if he didn't go to purgatory body and soul, where'd his body go?
ReplyDeleteI think I'll stick around just to make you mad. :)
ReplyDeleteI know some Sam fans have expressed concern that Sam's only role this season will be in a romantic storyline. Honestly, I'm not sure yet what I feel about it. I need to see how it's going to play out first. What I am happy about - probably more so than anything else that's been in the spoilers - is that we're going to see Sam have an emotional storyline for the first time in years, and hopefully see his character rounded out a little more. I'm also enthusiastically rooting for the dog to become a regular character. But I also share some concerns that this storyline will be over after only a few scenes and that Sam will be sidelined for the rest of the season.
ReplyDeleteBut getting back to this comment, neither KS Winchester nor Georgiegirl were even talking about Sam's girlfriend and dog storyline. Why do you think Tessa would bring it into the discussion other than to attempt to build up Cas by taking a dig at Sam?
Harsh terms? Like that Castiel is a "cancer" or that only male reviewers are worthy of your time? Something like that?
ReplyDeletehey! thanks!! i think it'll be interesting to see a new character interact with Dean and Sam too!
ReplyDeletehey! thank you!! i think you're right, if the storyline of Purgatory is handled better than the Hell one than it'll be really great to see how everything turns out!
ReplyDeleteButting in here, but can I suggest you take this up with the admin of the site? Contact Andy (DarkUFO) if you're finding comments offensive.
ReplyDeletehey! its great to meet another Cas fan!! i agree with what you said completely, Cas has added this extra layer and depth to the story which makes the story much more interesting and Misha is a wonderful actor too!! I love him the best when he was the awkward angel Cas and even hippie Cas too, but even his performance as God and the Leviathan was really amazing!
ReplyDeleteI think she brought it up because people like KS Wincester and Georgiegirl continually try to pretend that Cas has like ten fans, so therefore people that are Cas positive should just shut up and never mention him in mixed company like he's some kind of taboo subject. When the fact is that contrary to their claims Cas probably has just as many fans as Sam or Dean.
ReplyDeletehey! thanks... hahaha, i realized that writing for SPN is going to be a challenge but i'm up for it! i like your philosophy, it does make sense!!
ReplyDeleteWell said Chris.
ReplyDeleteWe certainly don't want to ban anyone but if people don't follow our Comment Policy then we will take action
it does seem like an interesting way of looking at things, you do have a good point!
ReplyDeleteGreat where do I send the emails I have comparing characters on the show to cancer, telling me I'm not welcome here, and that only male reviewers should write reviews?
ReplyDeletehey! thanks!! i appreciate the good luck!! you are completely right, i will talk about all the characters and Dean/Sam too plus the storyline, its not just about one thing but the whole of Supernatural in itself... i'll do my best!
ReplyDeleteYes i know, i did say that I should have used another word instead of 'most' and i think that there could be another reviewer if anyone wants to step in, i don't have any problems with that... i can't be unbiased towards Cas and don't worry about hurting me or my feelings, i think that any criticism and comments for my writing will only help me improve my skill as a writer and reviewer... as for opinions of character's, everyone is entitled to their favorites, i respect them all...
ReplyDeleteYou know what. Go ahead. If you really find I have done something wrong go ahead and block me. Please make sure You read all my comments I posted previously on this sight and the number of times I submitted scoop to your website.
ReplyDeleteI said I need male reviewers. I NEVER said I need ONLY male reviewers. We already had a discussion at length in the past.
ReplyDeleteI can assure you that I've never had a discussion regarding your inability to take female reviewers seriously. That's not a discussion I would ever participate in.
ReplyDeleteBones is a show on FOX and the main character Temperance Brennan's nickname is Bones cause she works with skeletons to help the FBI solve murders... its a short synopsis... there's a lot more to the show...
ReplyDeleteCalm down. I simply said that we will ban people if they don't obey our comment policy.
ReplyDeleteIf people follow the very simply rules they will be fine.
Here lies the main problem. You misunderstand most of my posts. I edit almost every post more than once after I post them. I never meant to say, I had a discussion with you. I had with someone else a few days back. I don't really understand what the hell is happening. I never had heated discussion with anyone else in the past at least on this site. Your misinterpretation of my posts is making me look bad.
ReplyDeletei realize that i shouldn't have done that and i know that i won't make any more general assumptions without thinking through it a million times first and then probably still won't... it was never my intention to offend anyone who watches the show, i wrote the article just to gather up all the news and info we have so far and added it all together for everyone to read about...
ReplyDeletethe addition of both Benny and Amelia is really quite exciting, I just hope we get to see Sam interact with Benny at some point and Dean with Amelia. I'd like the dog to stick around and be embraced by both Sam and Dean. I also think Kevin Tran is a great addition to the show.
ReplyDeleteoh yes! that sounds good too! having Benny and Amelia interact with the other brother will be nice to watch....
ReplyDeleteYou do not need my help in this regard. Also I'm not dumb. I have the email replies in my inbox of your comments. You are purposely leaving inflammatory comments, and then completely editing them so that the mod can't see what you've said. And since according to this site's comment policy the only way to bring a comment to the mod's attention is by flagging it, there's no way for me to report your comments.
ReplyDeleteIf you have any problems, just email me the comments that you have in your inbox and I will take the appropriate action
ReplyDeletelike when Dean ditched Sam to have fun with Lisa and Ben? I can get why you wouldn't be interested in Sam and Dean for that reason. Although I'm not sure Cas's backstabbing, lying and breaking of Sam's head entitles him to a free pass.
ReplyDeleteLets all remember that while Sam might be having normal like Dean had when he Sam was in the cage, Dean was in Purgatory which Sam didnt know and when he returns he starts lying to Sam right from the get go while Sam dumps his normal life to get back on the road with Dean. One brother is in the wrong here but it certainly aint Sam.
Check Misha out in the movie Finding Home, he is very good in it.
ReplyDeletedouble standards much?!
ReplyDeleteit is on my list of movies that i want to see which have Jensen, Jared and Misha starring, My Bloody Valentine, Friday the 13th and Finding Home too!
ReplyDeleteOk.
ReplyDeleteits not really enough evidence but yes the two Cas heavy episodes last season other than the season premier were the lowest rated episodes of the season live and with DVR.
ReplyDeletefor a minute there I thought you were talking about Sam's dog Bones. Sometimes I'm really dense.
ReplyDeleteWhat has the cage to do with anything? is that some requirement for Sam to have a connection to a character.
ReplyDeleteI am extremely sorry if I have hurt you. Even I have lost people close to cancer too. I know what it's like to suffer from that dreadful disease. Please go ahead and send all the emails to the owner of this website and let us see what will happen.
ReplyDeletethere is usually more than one SPN reviewer posting on this site, so there will be several opinions. Perhaps you'll find one that gives an opinion you like?
ReplyDeletehaha, no its okay... it happens sometimes!
ReplyDeleteBe sure and get Ten Inch Hero also, Jensen is classic in it and very funny.
ReplyDeleteLOL What do you mean? We barely saw any demons in Season 1 and there was plenty for the brothers to do, in fact it used to be a special occasion when a demon showed up during the first couple of seasons. The fact is as Bobby himself said in Devil's Trap at the end of Season 1, there only used to be 3 or 4 demonic cases a year. That's why in Season 4's In The Beginning, when Dean was thrown back in time and met his his mother Mary's father Samuel, Samuel thought the idea of a demon being around was crazy. The only reason demon activity increased after Season 2 was because of the Hell's Gate being opened.
ReplyDeleteIf there are many fewer demons there are still tons of other creatures/monsters/spirits for them to focus on, even if you take angels out of the picture too. Shapeshifters have always been fascinating on this show, vampires, werewolves, ghouls - these are all examples of "higher functioning" monsters, there are various kinds of zombies and revenants, ghosts, poltergeists, old time gods who have been reduced(like we saw in Scarecrow, A Very Supernatural Christmas, Osiris episode, etc), rawheads, rugurus, etc . And that's just quickly off the top of my head, but there are literally tons of different creatures/monsters/spirits that could be used instead of demons.
The fact is closing the Hell's Gates would simply set the world back to how it was before, Dean and Sam were there when the change happened, it's no wonder they feel responsible for setting it right. I think it'll make a great emotionally impactful story, the quest to close the Hell's Gates(and it also probably won't happen until the show ends, as Carver said, it can be a multi-season arc, there is more than one Hell's Gate)
One thing I would love to see in the last ep is Sam giving Dean back his amulet. I just know he picked it up.
ReplyDeleteI can almost guarantee that Crowley will die. I just don't think it will be this year. I think he will die at the end of this quest/ story arc but I think this one will last 3 years. In the end the Winchesters will kill Crowley similarly to how they killed YED. But like YED I think it will take them awhile to do it. I expect Crowley's death to be the season 10 finale.
ReplyDeletePersonally I am most interested in Dean's storyline, he's finally got a storyline of his own, which he hasn't had since the truncated attempt in Season 4(which was fantastic, despite what some people would have others believe, and the only one that actually built up the live watching audience from the previous season instead of shrinking). It's Purgatory which looks like it'll be a creepy place, difficult and he'll be surrounded by all the monsters he's ever hunted with nothing but the clothes on his back and whatever he has in his pockets for protection, to start out with. I want to find out how he survived that and hopefully brilliant and kickass hunter Dean will be back in full force, finally. He's never stopped doing it to "save people", that's clearly the one thing that kept him doing it no matter how depressed he was, but it would be nice to see him get his passion back for it("saving people, hunting things, the family business":)) because Dean's brilliant at it - he's a quick witted, creative, intuitive hunter with a never say die, or at least if we do, let's take as many of these evil b@$tards with us as we can! :D And that was a major factor in the fun side of the show, which is why I think so much of that has been missing in recent season as they kept taking it away from him(it's like they kept thinking somehow they could give to various other characters, but it never worked like it did with Dean as the lynchpin).
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see Dean's new sense of purpose and I can't wait to see the flashbacks to Purgatory showing us how it came about. I want to see that, I want to see Dean built up again after all these seasons of them breaking him down and taking away from his characterization with no resolutions. I can't wait to see how Benny fits into all this, as so far there has been nothing but good things reported about the scenes including him. I'm interested in finding out what happened to Castiel and how that relates to Dean's storyline. I'm interested in seeing how Kevin's role as a prophet is going to affect things. I'm interested in the quest to close the Hell's Gates. Heck I'm even slightly interested in Sam's storyline and seeing how they explain it - and that's saying something as I haven't like Sam since Season 2, but if they manage to do something other than explaining away Sam's flaws(or pretending he doesn't have any) as somehow really Dean's fault, that'll be a nice change. They probably won't, new showrunner who used to be old writer probably means the same old "blame Dean for not only his own flaws but everyone else's" mentality, but I've got my fingers crossed.
I'm most looking forward to what will hopefully a sense of danger and mystery and creepiness back to the show, that atmosphere has been missing for a very long time and I think the Purgatory related storylines could help to bring those back in a big way if done right.
alright, thanks for the suggestion! :-)
ReplyDeleteDean likes licorice. Sam doesn't. So I'll take the licorice and you can gladly have all peanut butter and banana sandwiches that come my way.
ReplyDeleteI am pro both but you can have any of the nut-flavored candy around. Got to tell you guys, I feel like we need a universal watch party so everyone can virtually bring their own snacks and we can have fun together while everyone else is busy fighting.
ReplyDeleteI'm good for some new monsters this time around. I'm kind of hoping we will see some in the Purgatory flash backs.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the tweets, Dean is not at all excited about having a dog in the Impala. I think he will go by the wayside very early in the season.
ReplyDeleteAs Purgatory was not made to hold human bodies, it's entirely possible that Dean is in a kind of living stasis while he's there, meaning he doesn't change, no matter how long he's there. His hair isn't that hard to explain, he has stuff with him, it's not like he wasn't carrying knives, possibly a razor blade, etc. Dean is usually loaded with hidden weapons.
ReplyDeleteYou can both shave and cut your hair with a sharp blade. I mean think about it, do we really think that Dean actually goes to a salon to get his hair cut here on earth? Of course not, which means he probably cuts it himself anyway.
And I'm the vegetarian.
ReplyDeleteSam's story isnt about his flaws he has had those dragged over the mud by the show and Dean girls like you. Sam doesnt have to keep apologizing for something every human being on the planet is inflicted with. No matter how much EDG;S want it .Dean has not be blamed for Sam's flaws and neither is every season about Sam being exposed or his flaws being held up to suit a vicious part of the fandom .
ReplyDeleteDean didn't ditch Sam to have fun with Lisa and Ben, in fact the only reason he went with Lisa and Ben was because Sam asked him to as a "death bed wish" so to speak. We were even shown that Dean really wasn't having that much fun, he loved them and he was trying to do what he could to fit in with their lives but he wasn't really very happy.
ReplyDeleteAnd most importantly Dean continued to try and find ways to get Sam out of Hell while he was with Lisa and Ben, we were told he did was always researching in an attempt to find a way to get Sam out and in fact once he found out Sam's soul was still in Hell, despite EVERYONE telling him it was impossible to get Sam's soul out, Dean found a way--he found a way to make it happen rather than have Sam's soul rot down there for eternity.
If we find out the same about Sam, then fine, but if it goes the way the spoilers from Carver's, Edlund's and JP's own mouths suggest, which is that Sam just assumed Dean was dead after doing a couple of months of cursory research and then decided to ditch hunting altogether(which included abandoning Kevin to his fate after Crowley kidnaps him) and just happily "move on", then that is a problem. There was no reason to assume Dean was dead, Sam's supposed to be smart, but what? He figured "hey no body, he must be dead"? And the most likely place he could have gone was Purgatory.
Not a double standard, Dean was still looking for ways to get Sam out of Hell even while he was with Lisa and Ben. We were outright told this in the very first episode of Season 6. The time he was with Lisa and Ben, he was still looking for ways to get Sam out. He didn't find anything but he never gave up. The writers and JP told us something us at Comic Con regarding Sam, they may have changed that after the uproar of everyone going "What the hell do you mean? Sam didn't look for Dean and just happily "moved on"? - but we don't know that yet, we can only go by what they actually said.
ReplyDeleteSam's flaws arent that much different to Dean's.
ReplyDeleteSam has never blamed Dean for any of his flaws and he acknowledges he has them plenty. He has never claimed to be perfect. If you are referring to Sam saying Dean was one of the reasons Dean went off with Ruby then thats a pretty weak argument since he said straight away he wasnt blaming Dean, he was simply pointing out the fact that the way they were pre Ruby wasnt working and that their relationship had to change, Sam and Dean needed to be more on equal footing and they werent really before.
I cant think of any other example probably because there havent been any.
As for Dean well lets hope the new show runner can make Dean less of a hypocrite, unlikely since the season starts with him being pissed at Sam for quitting hunting and having normal. Um sorry didnt Dean quit hunting and go live normal with Lisa and Ben for a year? Then theres the lying and keeping secrets which he constantly berates Sam for but continues to do himself. Again this season he'll be keeping whatever he's up to with Benny from Sam and probably because what he's doing isnt exactly on the up and up.
They could also try Dean having less of a martyr complex, I mean the whole blaming himself for Sam returning to hunting and Jo dying? I thought that came across as a bit arrogant, Jo died a hero, she hunted because her dad not because of Dean and Sam has always said that Dean coming to get him from Stanford had nothing to do with anything that happened and he's right. The YED would have gone after Sam and killed Jess regardless. Its not Sam who blames Dean for any flaws his or anyone elses but Dean's fault.
These arguments against Sam get weaker and weaker as the seasons go on, as Dean continues to show that he is just as flawed, has quit hunting for normal, has lied, trusted the wrong people? It just makes him and his fans look like hypocrites.
I love the Sam fans trying to re-writer history. Dean didn't stop looking for a way to get Sam out even while he was with Lisa and Ben. We were TOLD this in the very 1st episode of Season 6. Not to mention the fact that Dean only went to Lisa and Ben because he promised Sam he would. But he still didn't give up looking for a way to get Sam out.
ReplyDeleteJP, Carver and Edlund all said at Comic Con that Sam essentially gave up(they made it sound more positive, like he "moved on" but it was only after a couple of months and that in no way is enough time to exhaust the research possibilities in that short period of time). That he stopped looking, he found himself a girl and a dog and moved on, guilt free. JP's own words, he didn't feel guilty about it.
exactly Sam has never blamed Dean for his flaws not has Dean blamed Sam for his own. They are both flawed I'd say equally but some in different ways and some the same.
ReplyDeleteThye are both human and make mistakes but they also have equally made up for those flaws with some great qualities too.
I dont think the dog will be around for long, in flashbacks yes but realistically I dont see them keeping it. My guess is the dog ends up with Amelia either at the beginning of the season or very early on.
ReplyDeleteI think Benny will end up being either an ally or more likely a problem that needs to be dealt with by both boys at some point. Sam will have to find out Dean's lies and secrets at some point in the season? I'm gonna say that we'll see Sam and Benny in the same room around mid season.
ReplyDeleteAs for Amelia we dont know yet when we'll see her in real time I would guess mid season or early in the second half. I would like to see what Dean thinks of her after all she is supposed to be the girl for Sam and I'm sure Dean will want to meet her.
Did anything ever come of the idea for live-talk episode viewing parties? I think it came up around Comic-Con with the NerdHQ live feeds that we were having so much fun with???
ReplyDeleteYou aren't helping my fears much. :) I guess I will just hold on to the idea that this story arc and Crowley's part in it will last multiple seasons. But they have to defeat/accomplish something this season...no...I won't think like that. They can defeat/accomplish something else besides killing Crowley this year and next year and then they can kill Crowley and ride off into the sunset.
ReplyDeleteI'd fear the riding off into the sunset thing more. I think they will accomplish the first of three tasks/objects needed this year.
ReplyDeleteLilith is doing a live chat during Supernatural episodes I think. SPN actually airs an hour later in St. Louis than it does in the rest of the Midwest so I'll probably end up live tweeting it like usual.
ReplyDeletemost fans probaly are interested in Dean's storyline they just dont think theres a need or any justification for constantly saying that Dean hasn't had a storyline or that it hasn't gone anywhere before.
ReplyDeleteAs a Sam fan I dont give a shit if Dean has the mythology arc this season because ultimately the mythology arc involves both brothers. I also dont care that Dean gets a nice Purgatory related storyline because Sam has his own storyline too I just hope that his is deemed as important and seen on screen as much as Dean's.
Having the myth arc isnt all its cracked up to be, look at fans reactions to Sam's season 4 mythology arc? Look at Cas's in season 6? They usually dont do the character any favours.
blood, dirt and weapons in the promo shots suggest there will be.
ReplyDeleteI believe it was the same time line for the cage 1 month = 10 years which would mean Sam's soul was down there for 100+ years I'm not sure how long it was between Souless Sam and Dean reuniting and Sam getting his soul back
ReplyDeleteIts either been a year in both or time has more slower in Purgatory so where its been a year on earth for Sam Dean has actually only been in Purgatory for weeks or a few months. I like the second one better.
ReplyDeleteI'm only interested in how Dean's storyline impacts Sam, which it will at some point.
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to imply that the "sunset" doesn't actually involve a flaming car going off a cliff. xD I don't think the boys are gonna have a happily ever after (although that is my preferred method of ending shows). But if it feels complete, justified, I'll be okay with it.
ReplyDeleteI agree based on spoilers and what Carver has been saying, one task/stage a year for a three-year arc. I'm just crossing my fingers that the first task doesn't involve killing Crowley.
Guess it was Sam that said that, will have to go back and watch. Anyway I will take your PB & Banana sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteWOW Dean only stayed with Ben and Lisa because he promised Sam? That makes him some kind of saint? To me that makes Dean a total dick. He let this nice woman who let him into her home and be a father to her son think that he was there with her, in her bed because he actually loved her but really he was doing it because he promised his brother and was then too weak to leave when he was miserable apparently the whole time? I suddenly feel like Lisa and Ben got lucky they got shot of Dean, nobody deserves to be used like that.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on all points. I'd prefer the "somewhat happy for awhile" version but I'm good with the "going out in a blaze of glory" plan too. Unless Mark Sheppard gets a full-time job elsewhere (and quite frankly it's about time he's the star in something) I just don't see them killing Crowley right away. I think they've learned that that doesn't play well anymore.
ReplyDeleteI think they need enough time for Dean to make an ally of Benny, which probably takes awhile for either to trust each other enough to work together even for their mutual benefit, and for them both to do/get what needs to be done first. I doubt it's only a few weeks. I'd say closer to the full year than not. However, I also don't think they will answer the time question as part of the canon.
ReplyDeleteWell this is supposed to be the season of a more mature Sam and Dean (read as compromise), and there have been comments made that they're going to have to get used to each other again given the changes and additions each has introduced. If Sam has to get used to Benny, it makes sense that Dean will have to get used to the dog. Hopefully we're past the days of the iPod (Dean doesn't like it so it's automatically gone without argument).
ReplyDeleteI do think his soul was in The Cage for 100+ years (I'm guessing 180 12 months without Dean, 6 months with, but it's just a guess). I'm just scrambling to explain why his body didn't age.
ReplyDeleteI think that Amelia might be there in real time too so it would be nice to see Dean meeting her... as for Benny i think he and Sam will meet each other much sooner too... good points!
ReplyDeleteI never said Dean didnt look but he didnt look for 12 mths 365 days of the year..He went to Lisa at first because of Sam but lets not think he stayed because of Sam he stayed because he chose to and because he loved them.
ReplyDeleteWether you like it or not he lived normal he went to barbecues , mowed the lawn and went to work .
We have zero idea how long Sam looks or any thing Jared clearly stated Sam doesnt abandon Dean and nobody is going to tell me Sam seeking normal is some how different from Dean .
Thanks. I've been burned with overspeculating in the past. Good luck though!
ReplyDelete
