Amanda Tapping has just landed a recurring role in Supernatural. Tapping will play Naomi, described as 'cool and mysterious, part of a new group of angels we've never seen before', according to executive producer Jeremy Carver.
Zap2it reports that Naomi will first appear in episode 807, titled 'A Little Slice of Kevin', but Supernatural fans will keep on watching her throughout the season.
Amanda Tapping is best known for her role in Stargate franchise as Samantha Carter and in Sanctuary as Dr. Helen Magnus.
The casting news goes on, fellow Supernatural fans! 'M.A.S.H.' star Mike Farrell has also been cast for a guesting spot on episode 808 as 'an aging mentalist with a slippery grasp on reality.'
Supernatural's 8th season premieres Oct. 3rd. Stay tunned!

Seriously?i
ReplyDeletei love her as samantha carter in stargate i am looking forward to this verry verry much
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Gotta love those Angel/Demon characters and their storylines!
ReplyDeleteAwesome
ReplyDeleteI so can't wait
ReplyDeleteSo these angels are from somewhere like the west side of Newark?
ReplyDeleteNice casting, also loving to see they're introducing more female characters as recurring with Amelia and now Naomi, I hope they truly last longer than usual lol. Also, intrigued about this new group of angels... I'm really kinda wary of how excited I'm for the new season because I don't wanna get my hopes up... but the more I hear, the more interested I am!
ReplyDeleteGreat!! Now they need to confirm that the Alpha is appearing.
ReplyDeleteWar is Coming!!
OMG CARTER o.o
ReplyDelete*__* Exactly my reaction
ReplyDeleteIn awe at SPN casting, starting with Jensen and Jared, on down.
ReplyDeleteI believe he is and I'm thinking he ties in to Benny as he too is a vampire. I have no proof other than him not being dead at the end of last season and an uneasy "truce" between he and the boys.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea who Amanda Tapping is, but I'm PSYCHED about Mike Farrell. I didn't realize he was still alive!
ReplyDeleteLissie, she's cool and she has a very nice accent! =) I love her in Sancturay.
ReplyDeleteI still call Gillian Anderson "Dana" or Alyson Hannigan "Willow" :').
ReplyDeletea war on 3 fronts to me demons/angels/monsters? maybe all fighting it out for their own purpose with the Winchesters trying to throw a spanner in their somewhere (and representing humans) and avoid being used for one teams own agenda.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we'll end up seeing all sides going for the same thing, the power source?
I wonder if tahst what Benny is actually after?
That is brilliant! I loved her in StargĂ…te!
ReplyDeleteAMANDA FUCKING TAPPING HELL YEAH. New group of angels? Maybe they'll finally tackle the angels-who-were-cast-out-to-Hell mythos they've been sorta avoiding. (I hope they do. It's been my personal canon since always that Crowley is an angel-turned-demon. We haven't had that one yet.)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I suspected that she would be an angel when the casting call was released. I adore the angels and I'm so glad we get to see more of them. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat News ! I really like Amanda ;)
ReplyDeleteOMG, Carter and BJ are gonna meet?! MASH and Stargate, my two favourite shows/fandoms are colliding?! This is awesome news.
ReplyDeleteThis could be fun. Kinda want her to keep Magnus' accent.
ReplyDeletehmm a new order of angels perhaps? like maybe Seraphim
ReplyDeleteI hope they do this. At least they can make something good out of S6-S7.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I loved Tapping as Samantha. I hate the angels. Should be an interesting dilemma.
ReplyDelete;) Actually her accent wasn't natural. It was cause her character in Sanctuary was from the UK. Go watch one scene or 2 of Stargate on youtube and you'll see
ReplyDeleteBJ Honeycutt on Supernatural? That's nutty.
ReplyDeleteCARTERRRR. Has Shanks been cast on SPN yet? if not, please do so. lol
ReplyDeleteDitto!
ReplyDeleteIt really sounds like this season is going to be great! I don't want to get my hopes up but,... they are already pretty high.
Yes...MS was in (and under-used imo) 5.17 99 Problems.
ReplyDeleteLoved her in Sanctuary and great news with the Angels.
ReplyDeleteWillow! Me too! LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is what i'm thinking they're going for, and Ben edlund said something about the storyline being about who can keep demons in hell and angels in heaven. i'm not sure if the power source is just the tablets or if it's something else but someone mentioned that at some point it was said that there are three tablets (i don't remember if on the show or interviews) but if that's the case... Maybe one contains info about monsters and purgatory (probably the one we saw in S7), and the others are for hell/demons and for heaven/angels, and therefore it looks like all the supernatural creatures will play a part this season. Whatever it is, it definately sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I understand from an interview, Shanks just took the role -- knowing full well it was only a small part -- simply to work on the show since his wife had and he'd met them all. He was in-between gigs at the time and just did it for fun.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Tapping may make me actually like an angel. I always thought she did a very good job with the balance of action and unmitigated love on SG-1. I have no reason to think she won't balance the action and annoyance of the angels on SPN. Hmmm... did all that sound harsh? :) And Carver did say she was a 'new' type of angel, so that's a little intriguing. I'm looking forward to seeing what she brings to the table.
ReplyDeleteI'm also liking the Mike Farrell casting. It's good to see known names pop up on the SPN screen. Gives our little show a little more credibility in the big ocean.
I remember now! I wish it woulda been bigger. aw.
ReplyDeleteHe was underused. Aw, if only it was a bigger role.
ReplyDeleteThat's some casting I can get behind.
ReplyDeleteUhh!! I kinda like that idea.
ReplyDeleteBow to the queen, and the awesome casting SPN has done this season, I'm getting really excited for this year!
ReplyDeleteI just love this so much! Tapping is just incredible with good yet stoic characters, and even if they go that way, she can do evil so good (There wasn't just enough Replicarter) So either way I'm in love with this!!
