Since the rumors/spoilers have started I knew it was him. The last episode sounded like a special tribute to this character. He has cutted loose ends and he had no reason to live. Rest in peace, Charming Harry Winston. I've got something in my eye... p.s.: Heartbreaking and amazing episode.
Yes, Jax, you made the wrong choice! My mouth fell open when that pipe made contact against the back of Opie's head and the light went from his eyes. I knew no good could come from a talk from Clay and yes, that whole 'staying close' play from last week felt way too forced but the pay off should be interesting. This is (or should be) the straw that broke the camel's back. Jax is now officially a man on fire. Wendy better not try anything or she's going to end up just like her character on The Sopranos did. Clay has to die by the end of this season. I'm not really feeling Harold P. as Damon Pope (I keep waiting for him say' Waaaalt!'). But Jimmy? I am in love with Nero and his 'whore Friday' to quote Gemma. Still not sold on Tara as Queen B, she's going to have to beat some poor girl with a skateboard for me to take her seriously, LOL. Kurt Sutter is the man. He is ballsy and a risk taker. But I have to say I kind of hate Tig for setting all of this in motion. I really hope that Jax is on a take no prisoners mission and this isn't a long con. I want him to go from being a player/prince to a bona fide King.
The Scene with Opie and the pipe was really really gruesome. As was the scene with Tig and his daughter in the last episode. Seems like it´s gonna be a very tough season for the Sons. I´m glad to hear that I´m not the only one who doesn´t like Harold P. I never liked him on Lost, and I was really afraid that he was not gonna fit in here.
Tremendous episode!!! I admit, I shed a tear when Opie died....
Jax will be on a war path now!!!
I agree with all...Smits has been amazing.
I'm alittle confused about something. When the Sons were in the box and the guards were telling Jax to make a choice.....what happened right before Opie punched that guard and volunteered himself. Jax said something like, "It's my call." Was Jax about to volunteer? People were talking at my house and I couldn't understand what was going on there.
I´m also really sad to see Opie go, but I think this is one of the best shows on TV. It´s great that Kurt takes chances and takes the characters on new paths. The impact that this has on Jax will be so interesting.
Definitely agree with you about Jax. It felt more like he was molting into a Frank Castle (The Punisher) for me, being driven soley by revenge. I didn't realize Opie was going to fight them all at once. I thought it was one at a time until somebody dropped. Being outmanned and then having a pipe tossed in pretty much ruined that scene for me.I was actually looking for Tara to end up in the sack with someone else. That would show me that she's finally crossed over.
I was shocked. I just...I mean. It's Opie. EVERYBODY LOVES HIM. But I guess in retrospect I can see that they laid the groundwork for his exit. Still, punch in the gut,
Great episode though. Really powerful. In a sense, Opie's death was something the character of Jax needed. Something to really rock him to his core. As if his life isn't full of enough drama anyway. But Opie was his best friend and he is going to be crazy affected by this. It will give Charlie Hunnam some great to do. He's always solid. Man, he fucking got to me in the episode. Like Kim Coates in the premiere. Damn.
I completely agree it was a great episode and I will really miss Opie but with so many great character's I would miss whoever had died except maybe Clay. And on a side note wasn't it kinda cool to see Ashley Tisdale get her ass kicked, XD
I was just kinda being sarcastic about Ashley, she's kinda looked at as a Disney good girl and I just thought it's fun to see her in a different role and get her butt kicked too, lol. Clay has kinda taken the role that Piney had before and yea I kinda would be happy to see him go.
Hey, Scott, just for future reference, you never have to expand on a comic book reference for my sake. I'm a huge comic book nerd. I've never really been the biggest Tara fan. I'm so Team Gemma (really I just love Katey Sagal, have since I was 8 and watching Married with Children and then later on Futurama) but right now she is turning into a one note character who is all about spite but her scenes with Jimmy leave me hopeful (though we know that relationship will not last the season). When Opie head butted the guard I knew it was a wrap, I just didn't know it would be that brutal. I was like Jax and had to look away in the first watch. I don't think Tara will ever cheat on Jax. He's her first love and there would be nothing to gain from a tryst of that nature, except for a lot people hating on her. Tara is smart and that's her ace in the hole. Her manipulations will more well played than Gemma's if the writing for continues on the path that it is on. How the MC gets out of this CIA situation, I'm not sure but them being under the thumb of any alphabet agency is getting old. Now, I'm just concerned with the NOMADS and those personal documents. I
Not sure if people saw this, Johnny Lewis who played Half-Sack died yesterday after allegedly going on a PCP killing spree. http://www.411mania.com/movies/news/256535/[TV]-UPDATEDx3:-Actor-Johnny-Lewis-Dies-At-The-Age-Of-28.htm

WOW. That was a kick in the ole chick peas. I'll never think of laying the pipe in the same context.
ReplyDeleteI can not believe it. I will admit this episode brought tears to my eyes more so than 5x01. The look on his face just before the blow :(
ReplyDeleteMagnificent episode! Emmy winning performance by Charlie Hunnam!
ReplyDelete^i^ RIP Opie! ^i^
Opie bit the dust?
ReplyDeleteYes
ReplyDeleteI swear there is never an episode that is less than awesome.
ReplyDeleteSeeing Tara turn into top bitch telling Gemma that " Nah, I won't kill you, but my husband might"... Just awesome.
Loved the moments between Jax and Opie. Too bad there will be no more of them.
I am not always a Jimmy Smits fan, but he has been great on SOA this year. His role and arc with Gemma has added a lot to the series.
Since the rumors/spoilers have started I knew it was him. The last episode sounded like a special tribute to this character. He has cutted loose ends and he had no reason to live. Rest in peace, Charming Harry Winston. I've got something in my eye...

I.....have....no....words......
ReplyDeleteThat was so horrible! But such a awesome episode at the same time! Charlie Hunnam was awesome and I love all the scenes with Gemma and Tara.
I have to agree with you on Jimmy Smits. He fits in really well. I can´t wait to see what´s coming up for him and Gemma next week.
ReplyDeleteI still don´t care for Harold Perrineau though.
So much for SOA. :(

ReplyDeletewow let me guess, 20 people rated this awful just because Ope died?

ReplyDeleteOMFG what a show, what an awesome episode. I'm so gonna miss Opie. Tara standing up! cool. I can't wait till next week

ReplyDeleteAlso agreeing here. Was never a big fan of Jimmy Smits. Indifferent to him, I guess. But I am just loving him on here.

Ashley Tisdale is after my time so I don't really have an opinion on her. All I know is she came from Disney.
ReplyDeleteTwo seasons ago I would not have thought the show could work without Clay, but I can see him dead at some point now. I might even welcome it.

Quite disturbing and quite sad......
Yep, I saw this and was pretty shocked. Awful that he apparently murdered his 81 year old landlady...
