That was freakin' epic. Now I gotta wait another 7 days to watch the next episode... :(
Root is amazingly creepy...I wonder if she killed the guy she needle-stabbed (not naming names in case people haven't seen it yet and were looking for opinions on the episode!) Looks like Reese and Carter should have some sort of adventure on their road trip. Can't wait!
It was so interesting seeing Harold training the machine. I had a feeling when the machine kept telling him to stay that something bad was going to happen by the road. Machine knew best there.
Also loved John talking to the machine and the POI's reaction. XD
I was right about the earlier spoiler about John's new partner- yay. The dog is a Belgian Malinois. :D I loved how John knew Dutch and the surprise on the other guy's face when the dog now called Bear sat down on John's command and became totally calm. John definitely knows how to be the alpha. :D Also loved the part where John fought that really tall and bulky guy and when John said he was just resting after Carter took the guy out. lol
Great episode to me. Loved the flashbacks as usual, and loved Reese saying it wasn't his badge! XD
Anyone else waiting for Miles to commune with the corpse and tell Reese how it died? XD
Overall the episode felt a bit manic to me with all the separate plots going on. That feeling represented Reese's state of mind quite well, but that type of episode rarely reaches the "Awesome" level for me honestly.
Interesting to hear Root's endgame is setting the Machine free. *Cuckoo*Cuckoo*
Awesome start to what promises to be another great season! Loved the manic desperation that Reese was showing in his search for Finch.. Good to see Fusco and Carter playing well and getting in their jabs as well, and loved the possible new addition to the team - Bear the scary dog... lol btw how awesome is the beautiful Amy A as the scarily psycho Root?
Awesome episode for me, outstanting, brilliant and amazing. Cool moments, knows how the machine works is just freaking cool. Good action scenes, Amy Acker was Root is really great to see.
Love Amy Acker/Root. And it was very interesting getting to see the start of the machine and his development with Finch, it was like Finch was teaching a son and the machine wanted to protect him. Anyway, great premiere, this shows continues to kick all kinds of ass and didn't miss a beat, it proved tonight why it was the best new show last year.
OK, who the heck voted awful? I want names! Moving on, I thought this episode was a fantastic season opener. I love the flashbacks and the machine's point of view. I love that we crack the code of how the numbers are decoded. There was line after line of awesomeness. Everyone got a chance to shine. But my favorite part of course comes at the end where Carter and Reese are planning a road trip with Ace, I mean Bear. It was fast paced and I couldn't the time flew so fast (I guess it actually does fly when you are having fun). Amy Acker as the villan is brillant and very much believeable as the other side of the coin to Finch. Her crazy eyes totally sold it. I could go on forever about this episode. And I won't even get into all the Batman allusions in this episode. As always Jona Nolan and Denise The make an awesome writing team. This sets the bar high for the season and I have no doubts that they will not only live up to but surpass the fandom's expectations. You just know where going to see Ken Leung again, for the simple fact that he hung way too long and he has a Bad Robot connection.
Okay, the computer spotting Finch through a random webcam...creeped me out. :-)
loved Loved LOVED John and Bear.
Root's quest to set the machine free...worries me. :-) That woman is....not completely on solid ground. :-)
It was really awesome to get a glimpse into how the machine was trained and its connection/feelings for Finch. I kept thinking...if Root had grabbed him in 2002 the machine would have kept track of him and told John exactly where to go to rescue him.
That first fight scene was sweet! Fusco in a ball gag....lol. "You're on a first name basis." Loving Carter and Reese together. Loved everyone together.
I think this is going to be a great season. Awesome.
Reese and Bear were hilarious! The other part that cracked me up was Finch walking around saying "Can you see me now?" It reminded me of those annoying Verizon commercials... "Can you hear me now? Good."
I never got to the "can you see me now?" connection. :-D He walked into that coffee shop and my first thought was...why is no one reacting to him? (yes, I know...NYC) and my second was...oh web cam...creepy
..WOOOW...FINCH TELL THE MACHINE NO MATTER HE IS IN MORTAL DANGER HE MUST SAVE OTHER PEOPLE ..FIRST.. THIS IS A POWERFUL CODE TO FOLLOW ..AND OBEY UNTIL REESE TEL HER I CANT DO IT ALONE
That. Was. AWESOME. I loved it so much. This show has improved so much since it started. Writing, directing, even the acting.
-That first scene was such a creative way to recap (and that Michael Emerson smile was so great). -I didn't miss Zoe, but.. where was she? -I wasn't sure about Amy Acker last season, but this episode convinced me of how great a villain she is. The music in that first scene with her was great. -I wonder what Root was talking about when she said Harold stopped her. Does he remember her? -Speaking of brilliance... The way Finch figured out the numbers was such a nice reveal. It goes back to the scene in season 1 when Reese was looking through the books, to Finch's annoyance. It also explains why Finch's secret lair is in a library in the first place, and it's the perfect way to combine modern and old ''technology'', like the producers said in an interview last week. -Funny how sarcastically Reese repeated Finch's line from the Pilot, ''I never said it would be easy''. -Reese being the Contingency is a great twist too. It says so much about Finch, not wanting to be saved. -Reese kneecapped that guy through the fricking table! -I loved the flashbacks of Finch teaching the machine. Again, him interacting with it showed so many new layers to his character. The webcam creeped me out. Finch deciding not to use the machine to cheat was great. Michael Emerson played it brilliantly. The car crash was good to, the machine becoming attached to Finch somehow, telling him to ''stay'', and Finch telling the machine not to save him... Leading to everything that's going on now. I don't know what changed in the writing department, but I really love it. -Ken Leung was perfect for the role. -''I'm thinking about charging you overtime.'' -Returning mysterious faces... The plot thickens, and I love it. -''I entrusted him to YOU!'' Hahaha -''It's a sex thing, you got a problem with that?'' Hilarious. And then the ball gag... -''I don't have many friends, just the one in fact... Ok, maybe two.'' -Sorry, but Jim Caviezel's attempt at Dutch was hilarious. From what I could make out, I think he said something like ''Quiet; go lie down''. Nice stunt with the guy flying through the window. Looked like he fell on his head.. I hope he's ok. :p -Ken Leung: ''I can drive myself to the airport, I gotta get lost.'' See what they did there? :D -Why did they use a different take of Reese shouting at the machine?? I wanted to see that! -Texas... I've wondered for a while what POI would be like outside of New York. -I love that they're exploring the idea of machines surpassing human intelligence.
Great episode! It was very entertaining, full of incredible action, drama, and extremely well thought out. I picked POI to watch live, over Grey's Anatomy, the other show I was curious to see premiere. And, I'm so happy I did. My brief glimpses at Grey's during commercial breaks were very depressing. POI, while not all happy, was very enjoyable television for me. I'm looking forward to the next episode!
Brilliant season opener for a brilliant show; Finch bonding with The Machine, Root being an evil awesome bitch, Fusco jealous of Reece & Carter, the dog, Fucso in a ball gag, Reece being a BAMF, Ken Leung.....the list of great things in this episode is just endless!
-Pascal, you are right. It seems the machine "cares" about pleasing Mr. Finch! -Great to see Ken Leung (I was trying to figure out if "LEON" was Felicity reference?) -But I was right, he definitely got "gagged" again! -Amy Acker's ROOT is absolutely insane and so MUCH like Kelly Payton (Alias). -But she does it so well. I don't know what she means about "Freeing the Machine"??? -Caught Number 15 (Lost) and 47 (Alias) - Loved Finch's method to test the machine on probability with Gambling! - Was trying to figure out if the Neo Nazi plot is going to continue, since the swastika is originally eastern/Sanskrit (Buddhism and Hindism) and we had one episode title last season that played to specific period in Indian history.
"I Don't Believe In Magic" (Could have fooled me! XD)
It was an awesome episode! I loved everything about it. Highlight has to go to the scene in which Reese spoke Dutsch with the dog and turned him against the bad guys, it was such a priceless moment. Also loved whe Carter had his back at the end, and all of Finch's scenes with the machine earlier on. Root is also an amazing villain. Really great return, this show is very enjoyable
The episode was on a whole new level of awesome, absolutley loved the episode Root is one crazy woman - she wants to set the machine free - she really has got problems Can't wait till next week
Setting the machine free... I would love to see that happen on the show... :D It would be crazy... I always felt like that could be sort of the series' endgame... some trying to let the machine do what it wants... But they are bringing that plot so early... Makes me think what they have planned after this is over...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Best episode yet.
ReplyDeleteThey keep the hits coming! Awesome episode.
ReplyDeleteWow! this episode set the tone for an awesome season POI is gonna be.

Amy Acker is way too beautiful to be that insane.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I just want to point out that Fred (from Angel) was from Texas as well. If they did that on purpose, then high five to them!
I believe that Amy is from Dallas as well..

ReplyDeleteOne word !!! Awesome !!! Root is freaking crazy !!!
