    I didn't feel the need to stop the pain (as I did with another couple of new sitcoms...Animal Practice being one) it was okay...might get better.

    I loved it! Let's just hope Ryan Murphy doesn't fuck it up after the first season like Glee.

    It had the chance to be good, but between placing the main couple in stereotypical "man/woman" roles and trying to justify the grandmother's homophobia but blaming her gay ex-husband, it really missed the point. You would think Ryan Murphy would try and take stereotypes and turn them on their sides, but he just reinforces them. It's a comedy, so stereotypes are going to happen, but he should of tried to shake them up a bit. Having seen Ryan Murphy's previous work, I know this won't change. It will just get worse as the series progresses. So I won't be watching the next episode and I hope this show ends as soon as possible because one show that's full of problematic messages, yet somehow gets labeled as "inspiring and groundbreaking," is more than enough.


    I just hope Partners does a better job with this. As much as I want to see this show flop, it'd be a shame to see both The New Normal and Partners get canceled because I'm sure networks would use it as an excuse to not do another for a few years. Let The New Normal get canceled because it was a miss, not because America wasn't ready for it.

    I thought it was funny, but his tendency to reinforce certain stereotypes is what turned me off Glee and will probably eventually turn me off this show too.
