Mindy has always been my favorite cast member of The Office and even though this show means she's gone from the final season, its for a good reason because the pilot was amazing.
Having never watched the Office (be outraged people) I came to this show with very low expectations; the premise didn't sound that attractive.
3 minutes in, damn, I was hooked, From the subersion of expectations to the characters and the quick pace, I love everything. Mindy is not the most likable protagonist, she is kind of a bitch and with huge streaks of narcissim; but in the end she is a good person just unsure of how things will turn out. That makes her very relatable, feat even more outstanding to achieve in half an hour of television. Now my expectations are huge for the second ep.
My favorite part was the exchange between Danny and Mindy where she made fun of her divorce and he called her fat. How hurtful they can both be was, for some reason, refreshing. They are flawed characters, but sympathetic nonetheless and I'm a sucker for those.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I loved everything about this pilot! Am definitely going to keep watching.
ReplyDeleteAnd I already have a ship - Mindy/Danny.
