Interesting episode, my first one with the 11th Doctor. Still have to catch up on him, Rory and Amy. Linked how spunky the future new Companion was in this episode. Or was the stream so bad that I mistakenly think that the Human Dalek will be his new side-kick.
Wow I am super impressed by how they kept that a secret! I love Oswin/Clara whatever her name will be she was super smart and had great chemistry with The Doctor. I wonder how she will come back, I have to say the Dalek twist shocked me!
I think it's a very bold move by Moff to have all knowledge of the Doctor wiped from their memory, I wonder if it will somehow tie into the Fields of Trenzalore question that has to be answered at the fall of the 11th?
I think it probably will be linked to that, definitely a bold move but makes any future interactions between the Daleks and the Doctor very interesting
Awesome! I absolutely loved it! Jenna was amazing. And the truth about Oswin made me cry! But I'm so happy Rory and Amy made up! Loved DOCTOR WHO questions at the end. Did not see this one coming! Very excited for next week and all these great guest stars!
I can't believe that in this day and age, they managed to keep secret the fact that Jenna was appearing in this episode, well done to them! I really wasn't expecting it. Thought the episode was pretty great :) can't wait for next week's though
Why on Earth would you just skip the past two series? They have the most involvement requiring story Doctor Who has ever produced. A useful advice for you: stop watching now, do the catching up in a couple of days before the next episode airs and rewatch this one...
Or when he goes back in time to stop Oswin from ever getting to the point of getting on the Alaska, so she never becomes a dalek, which means they never forget the doctor
as the new companion she could be someone else all together; Freema Agyeman came under control of the Cybermen in Army of Ghosts & Karen Gillan was a Soothsayer in The Fires of Pompeii
But they were both cast as companions after they initial appearances (and having impressed).
Jenna-Louise Coleman was cast AS the companion first and foremost, which indicates there is a bigger story as to how these characters are linked. Otherwise, why would they even need her to play this character in the first place?
As far as I'm aware Jenna's companion is called Clara and from Victorian England, if she's related to Oswin then I assume that she is an ancestor of some kind.
I'll catch up and will try to be up to date in the next few weeks. Had to rush to finish Tennant and even though I know that elements of DW are serialized with broader storylines, I couldn't wait to see this premiere.
OMG o.o The new companion is a Dalek! :-D Can't wait to see what happens with her: we know the end but we have to see the beginning of her story (just like River). And all the Daleks repeating in chorus "Doctor Who" was fantastic. Welcome back, Doctor.
Back on Aug 16 it was said here... http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/doctor-whos-new-companion-character-1263595)... that the companions name is Clara Oswin - not a definitive source but will have to wait and see.
I'm inclined to think the companion character and the dalek character are two separate roles, just played by same actress (I read somewhere she was picked as companion while reading for another role so perhaps they gave her the other role too?)
If they are different characters I think it was a silly move because everyone will think it's the same character anyhow, and if it is the same character it'll be interesting to see how they work it.
Yeah, we're thinking Clara's surname isn't Oswin and that the tabloids got confused due to her duel roles. It's 99% certain she's from Victorian times (it might be that she's been thrown back to that time by accident I guess) and she seems to under Vastra's wing. She also dies in the Xmas episode, or at least there are people around her gravestone in one scene. The Doctor says 'I have to save Clara', but it's unclear how he goes about it.
A perfect 10 just for the Oswin twists alone, but that 10 also can be given for the return of Amy and Rory and the overall epic cinema like event episode it was.
Haven't seen Doctor Who in years, because I din't like, but damn, this episode blew me away. Might have to rethink not watching the previous five seasons. :)
That was awesome. Loved Oswin. Did not see that twist coming. Wow. Not sure what to make fo the Daleks forgetting about the Doctor. Can't figure out if that will be good or bad. Hmmm. Glad they're back! Favorite line "That's your plan. I get fired at a planet and am expected to fix it!"
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Love Jenna already!!

ReplyDeleteI loved it, the part when Amy was explaining why she left Rory had me in tears.

ReplyDeletei get that but the whole remember me thing and the fact that she was cast before the season started filming, those two were just coincidences

ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Doctor.
Unless someone has watched all 49 years of the show, I'd ignore them telling you how you should watch it ;)
ReplyDeleteTrue enough. lol
