The brand-spanking new poster for the second season of Once Upon a Time has just been revealed! It features Emma in Storybrooke holding her father's sword, as a previous poster did, but this one marks the return of Emma's trademark perfect coif and the much-beloved red leather jacket.

ReplyDeleteYeah... I mean it's not like most taglines are not derivative of other taglines.
ReplyDeleteJust that "Winter is Coming" entered the pop culture vocabulary in a huge way recently and any "is coming" line will be compared to it.
True, true. But I loved the Game of Thorns truck so much that I'll forgive them essentially any "borrowing" they feel like doing. That and hearing Rumple say "Magic is coming..." still gives me shivers so... I'm for it. ;-}

ReplyDeleteOh!!!! That was so awesome! He says it in the finale! You can hit up Netflix and iTunes to catch up, and the ABC site usually has a few eps up that you can watch there.

ReplyDeleteI may catch up some day, but I just could not get into the series despite trying a couple of times and watching the first half of the season or more...and then watching an episode towards the end of the season too. I could not enjoy the way the show handles fairy tales and some of the acting/writing put me off.
I may yet come back to it down the road one day when I do not have expectations and I do have extra time...

ReplyDeleteThat's too bad. I admit some of the eps could've been better and sometimes cheesy would be too generous to describe some situations/dialogue, but overall I love the show. But I LOVED Disney as a kid so they have me there. I would encourage you to give it a chance and if nothing else catch 1x3, 1x10, 1x12, 1x21 and 1x22.
See I was never a Disney fan and that is my main issue. The tone is so Disney and the fairy tales are very Dsiney-fied and not like the darker more Brothers Grimm genre I liked when I was young. I usually love magic and fantasy shows that have a lot of layers, but I'm just not a fan of Disney or Disney-fication..... So there is a lot I like and a lot I dislike about the show.

I was when I was a kid, although Disney is pretty dark when you pay attention. Yes, the show can be cutesy at times (mostly because it's a family show on during prime time on ABC, a traditionally family-oriented network) but you have characters committing patricide, cutting off dragons' heads and slipping poisonous snakes into people's beds while they sleep...that's dark.

IMO Even though it has some visual recognition to Disney, it goes back to it's roots as well...Particularly with Snow White (White = purity/innocence = "Mary" + "Charming" = James/David are Judeo-Christain allegories, thus they are the parents of "The savior"

They should have gone with "magic is here", "magic has arrived" or sth like it.
The purple doesn't bother me, because it plays to 'the smoke monster' - black body radiation/electromagnetism - ultra "violet" light - time/reality travel -a change/effects in/of quantum mechanics.
ReplyDeleteThe Game of Throne is perhaps a bit much, but like BR shows, it's those references to things in pop culture that bring us together as viewers, because the "final battle" is probably life or death for these people, since the show like SOFAI, are both about political aspects of survival of the fittest.
I have one like that...and when I was in high school I could hear people singing "beat it" when I wore it down the halls! :/

ReplyDeleteI love it! I sometimes wondered what it might mean, because in Storybrooke she and RED are the only one's who actually wear read...even in FTL there didn't seem to be a lot of it, but Wonderland obviously made it blatant with The Queen of Hearts and her card-men...

There was this catholic school about ten blocks from where i use to live,and all the girls came out in there uniforms,go home and come out looking like her.They thought they looked hip,hot and together.That's what i see when i look at her.
ReplyDeleteI think the promo artist/show execs might be laying it on a little think, but I think it points out that she really is going to have fight now, whether she likes to or not. The fact that Emma's back is towards us may suggest there's no going back now. I think there's a little 50-80's revival going on with the fashion in general. Even blue Olivia is going to wear black leather jacket this season (more like her "hipster" counter part would)...and of course Charlie and Uncle miles have motor cycle/bomber jackets too all playing to rock 'n roll, rock star-----> "rebel with a cause".

I found them while looking for something else and they seem to be from some EW post, but I could not find the original source post on EW. I collected the best quality ones I could find from various sites....

Perhaps it's not leather, but looking at the sleeves you can tell it's a bit of "shinny" material and it bunches up (unlike a suit jacket) and bit far out for her!

ReplyDeleteMy laptop is on its last leg literally,i have a hard time looking at photos and videos they are always darker than they should be,so i can't tell what she has on,didn't even know she was wearing a jacket! :P I should be heredity Kens computer in the next 2 weeks,hopefully!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain...my computer just went black on me today, while I was working on some Revolution article stuff, and I ended up switching to my mom's computer, I can only hope it will work again tomorrow (I just replaced the mother board too -AAHHH!)

My husband offered his services,he said if you can describe the problem,he will help.Not that i'm patting him on the back but he has been working with and fixing computers for more years than i can remember.He is very good with them just don't tell him i said so.Check it out tomorrow,and let me know,he loves doing this stuff!
