Second of all, damn, can these two stop? We know they're going to get married and them trying to convince us otherwise isn't working. Plus, there's no way they'd build the wedding up for so long and then not have them marry. That'd be stupid.
Do you really think that a story should be told to conform what the viewer strictly knows? Stories have internal coherence, dynamics...If these characters would freak out on their wedding date, then that's the story that should be told. Whether you know what happens in the end or not is irrelevant, and not everything is written to make you doubt what you know.
