Castle - 6 Ways to Pass the Time While Waiting for the Premiere

13 Sept 2012

Castle fans out there, if you're anything like me, it's been a looooong summer of waiting to see what will  happen to our favorite crime-fighting duo, now that Castle and Beckett have finally given way to their feelings for each other in the epic and amazing Season 4 finale episode.  We're almost there, with just over a week to go before Castle's September 24th premiere.  And yet . . . is it just me or is the time dragging even more, now that we have all the sneak peeksearly reviews, and promotional photos, all hinting at what sounds like an amazing season to come?

Without further ado, here is my list of six ways to make the seemingly endless waiting for the Castle premiere pass more quickly:

1.  Re-watch the whole series, from the season 1 pilot, Flowers for Your Grave, to the season 4 finale, Always.    It's amazing and just great fun to watch the whole cast of the shows characters grow and develop--and of course to see the Castle/Beckett relationship grow from that first "It would have been great/ You have no idea" exchange to "I just want you."

2.  Watch some of the really fun Season 4 DVD extras that are now being released.  From deleted scenes to bloopers to a great featurette about the anatomy of filming a complicated stunt sequence, these videos will give you at least a small dose of your daily required Castle fix!

3.  Watch some of the amazing fan videos out there on YouTube.  There are some truly great homages to the show out there--way too many for me to list here--but my current favorite is here:

4.  Watch (or re-watch) anything and everything Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic have acted in besides Castle.  Firefly and For Lover's Only are currently available for instant play on Netflix.

5.  Read the great cast interviews that are starting to pop up around the web.  Great ones with Tamala Jones and Susan Sullivan are linked to here and here.

6.  Obsessively watch the Season 5 promo (you can even find it in slow motion) trying to pick up more clues about what's to come.

So there are my coping techniques.  What about you?  How are you passing the time until the Castle premiere?  And what are your hopes/thoughts about the upcoming season 5?

  2. Hello Anna!

Nice to see another Castle fan here posting!

I'm going to do a quick re-watch of Season 4 before the premiere to get me in the mood :)

  3. I have exhausted most of these options already lol. I went into Castle withdrawal half way through the summer and ended up rewatching the entire series whilst searching the internet for any clue to season 5 that I could find.
    I really cannot wait.

  4. Thanks, Sharon!

  5. Yep, even with all my coping strategies, I really cannot wait, either! ;-)

  6. Thanks so much, I'm happy to be here!

  7. A good movie, great wine, a fine cheese selection and lots of chocolate: this combo is usually helping me pass the time when I'm not working.

  8. Ha this was great. I think I've already done all these things :)

  9. I've done all of them already ahah ! But I have something else, guys : HIGHSCHOOL \o/ I can't stay in front of the computer all day long to have a new picture now. And the promo is not helping in my opinion ;)
I also have other series so, to fight Castle's sneak peek, I watch other shows (less important to me) sneak peek.
(and, you know what, I'll watch Serenity tonight in Blu-Ray [again] :D )

I read a lot of fanfic, some are really great!

Last week watched "Waitress" with Nathan Fillion, great movie, I highly recommend it!

  12. My Castle withdrawal coping mechanism? Fanfiction...I read so much of it over the summer that sometimes I don't remember what actually happened on the show and what didn't, which usually means that a Castle Marathon is in order.

  14. I'm doing what I always do when waiting for a TV show to come back. I try to perfect my time machine. It's a little amusing how a machine that's supposed allow me to travel through time is also making me waste so much of it.

  15. Aw, thanks! Always happy for an excuse to talk Castle with fellow fans!

  21. It's a good thing that I failed Physics I and II and now I have to study in order to pass the exams because waiting for Castle (& FRINGE!!!) is killing me!

My advice:get a tumblr account (if don't already have one) and re-blog again and again and again all your favorite scenes! There are countless of Castle fans there so be certain that you'll find amazing people to share your ready-to-explode feelings!!

    PATIENCE MY FRIENDS!!!

  23. okay I think I saw it too. Looks like the bomb went of from that safe, and castle wraps beckett in his arms to protect her from the blast aaahhhh

  24. I second your "aaahhh".

  25. You did not mention the books!! The Nikki Heat and Derek Storm books... You can read all of those.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh my gosh, you're right! I should make that #7. And the first several chapters of the newest one, Frozen Heat, are available on the abc website, I think

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, they are. They are also posted on this website. Somewhere. :)
I read the first chapter of Frozen Heat. I am yet to go through the other chapters.

  28. I don't think I'll be able to watch the entire series, but I want to watch some episodes. The 2 parters. The blue butterfly episode. The season 3 finale. That is probably the best episode of the show. I have been meaning to watch the X-Files episode again for sometime but haven't gotten around to it. I am not a fan of the youtube compilation stuff thought. I don't really get why people would spend so much time doing those.

  29. I have been watching Season 1, 2, 3 and now 4 and calculating how many episodes I have to watch before I get to the end and ready for 24th September - actually it's the 25th September here in Australia so we have to wait that extra 16 hours before downloading it from the States. Bummer!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh well I've done all of that and yet I'm still here waiting desperately for the new season to start. Great article btw.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That video is beautiful. Thanks for pointing me to it.:-)

  32. Ditto. Just started Season 1, pause, pause, again.

  34. You missed some great ones: Kimmiesjoy, Googie, Muppet47. You can find them by looking at any of the authors in the 4 links about on their home page. They have a favorite aurthor's section where you can find additional writers.

  35. I watch it every night before I go to bed after watching the hookup scene from "Always." Gonna be kind of weird to not watch them before going to bed beginning next Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Love this list! Some of them aren't my thing or I don't have time for them but as I said below, I've been watching the hookup scene every night since "Always" before going to bed and I've been watching the promo after it since it was posted here. Also, since I just started watching at the end of season 3, I've been watching the first 3 seasons (hit a technical difficulty with my laptop's DVD drive and I watched season 4 as it aired). Will barely make it to the end by Monday :)
