I don't recall some of these, as it's been sometime since seeing the previews, but I remember thinking that Nieghbors, Family Tools, and Beauty and the Beast weren't long for this world...
While I dont think Beauty and the Beast will be a hit I also dont think it'll be cancelled before the end of the season. The ratings bar is incredibly low at the CW.
I have a question-is it the first show to be cancelled in terms of how many episodes air before the plug is pulled or just the first to be yanked in the season?
I have a feeling Cult is going to flop massively. I predict a 0.4/0.5 premier mid season and then downhill from there. I dont see it returning for more episodes beyond its 13? episode order.
Have to go with Elementary(Seriously who thought this show was even needed when we have Sherlock?), Beauty and The Beast(kind of obvious) and Cult(if its good CW average audience won't get it, if its horribly bad, CW average audience won't care about it).
Neighbours and Animal Practice. I also have a feeling The Carrie Diaries won't last very long (I really don't see it working for the CW, being set in the 80s and being without mobile phones and contemporary music) but it's unlikely it'll be the first since it premieres in January.
Neighbors I think will be the first to go, other than that there are several likely candidates. I agree that Beauty & the Beast sounds awful, but I doubt the CW will cancel it, it most likely will get to air a complete season.
Sadly, I'd agree that Cult doesn't seem like it could find an audience. Like Nikita, it's just not a typical CW show, so the CW viewers won't "get" it, and those who *could* potentially like it don't watch the CW. Plus, the pilot reviews have been mostly negative with two critics even naming it the worst new show of the 2012/2013 season in SpoilerTV's poll. It's a pity, since I'm really looking forward to the show and think it could be great, if written well. The premise has a ton of potential and is fairly innovative, and the cast is capable.
I think Beauty and the Beast is DOA. It sounds like a completely ridiculous idea for a show, the actors aren't big enough stars to draw in viewers (in my opinion), and the fact that it got the pre-Vampire Diaries slot on the CW's schedule means the expectations will be through the roof. Yet, looking at Nikita and The Secret Circle's ratings in that slot in the past 2 seasons, it doesn't actually seem to be so great.
ha, then my friends and I are far from average, age range 50 to 74 with me being the oldest and I watch more shows on CW than any other network. But my likes don't stop with CW, enjoy shows on BBC, Syfy, TNT, A&E, History and even some on CBS, ABC, not many on NBC. But my favorite show is Supernatural. Looking forward to Arrow, Beauty, and old favorites, TVD, Hart of Dixie and Nikita. Will try Cult just because Matt Davis is in it.
The thing with Animal Practice is it has already previewed and it samples quite well, even if some of those viewers dont come back and watch in the fall it still looks like it might do ok.
Beauty has the POST-TVD slot actually. Look at the main demos of TVD (women 18-34) then compare to Nikita (more male) and TSC (more teen) and you have a good reason for why the TVD fans dont stick around to watch the 9pm show. What is Beauty's target demo? I suspect the CW think it will be more geared towards the TVD viewers but I'm not so sure. It wont be a hit but I think it'll make it to the end of the season though barring a complete disaster and remember standards are very low at the CW.
I think including midseason shows here makes no sense at all. As such, I am ignoring those and thinking only about those coming next fall.
I still say that the safest show so far, from any network, is Arrow right now. I really have troubles coming up with a scenario in which it is not renewed. Then, everything else on the CW could go really bad. I think Beauty is DOA, but I agree with other comments that it will air the entire season regardless, even if I think it will be reallocated to Fridays on January once Top Model is over, giving Cult the post Vampire Diaries slot. As for Emily Owens, it wont be a hit for sure (I am speaking for CW standards) but it may find an audience that sustains it, a la Hart of Dixie.
I dont think CBS will have anything flopping. Vegas and Elementary I think will do okay-ish enough to be around at least until the end of the season, and as for Partners, it may bring down Monday average for CBS, but I doubt it will be pulled. May be wrong here though, this one is quite hard to predict. Oh and there is also Made in Jersey, but I think Friday's low expectations will keep it there at least a year, a la gifted man.
I actually dont predict the cancelation of either Ben and Kate or The Mindy Project, but I may be biased with the critical acclaim, which has very little to do with the sucess of a show. I think the whole block will face some ratings challenges, but I see them trying to hold on to it for a while and give it time to grow (yeah, I know it's Fox, but still). Launching it with Raising Hope may be an issue though, so maybe there will be changes later on, I dunno. As for the Mob Doctor, I think it will flop, but will probably air all 13 episodes as I dont see what else Fox would put there, so I dont think it qualifies as first cancelation.
Now getting into ABC and NBC, this is where it gets very tricky. As for ABC, they have Neighbours, which I really think will be the first to get pulled, even though its timeslot rival Guys with Kids, at NBC is also in serious contempt. I also think Animal Practice is doomed. Basically, I think the first cancelations will come from Wednesday night, from comedies. As for their remaining comedies, I think Malibu Country will do fine on Fridays, regardless of what critics say (I wont watch it for sure, just saying that it is likely to find an audience) and that NBC's Tuesday block shoudld do well enough for its standards actually. On the drama side, I think Revolution and 666 Park Avene are fine at least until the end of the season, but everything else is tricky. If I had to bet, I would Nashville would most likely work, but Chicago Fire would most likely fail, but it could be the other way around. I dont see the two making it, but its hard to tell which one does and which one doesnt. Finally, Last Resort, a show I am really looking forward to it, I like to think will make it, but all the odds saying it wont, so I dont know what to expect there. In a way, it's the "Once Upon a Time" of this season, in the sense that no one can actually predict what will happen with it, ratings wise (not so much due to the premise as with Once, but because of the timeslot).
So, summary: my vote goes to Neighbours, Guys with Kids, Animal Practice!
I've seen the pilot it wasnt good and I have to say that I think its failure will have more to do with its utter rubishness more than having anything to do with the average CW audiences ability to 'get it' or not. Its not hard to get, just a poor concept poorly translated on screen.
I'm guessing pretty much all the CW shows, except Arrow^^; All the others look like typical teen shows, I thought the new president said he wanted to change the 'image' of the CW since it wasn't working out....good job with that so far^^;;;;
I chose Partners because as I recall, those critics in last week's clip said it was terrible. Also, I haven't liked anything I've see of Emily Owens, And Beauty and the Beast. Runners up are Neighbors, Cult, and -- I really wanted this to succeed but I doubt it will -- Chicago Fire.
Kudos to Fox for sticking with Fringe when if on any other network it would have been cancelled 3 seasons ago. Actually by all rights they,Fox, should have cancelled it even though it was critically acclaimed. I believe they learned something by there past mistakes of pulling or cancelling shows to quickly.
I don't believe Fox will hold on to a show just because there might be an audience for it but i do think their eyes and ears are more open to what there audience wants...All you need to do is look at Fringe as an example....maybe you can look at it in a different light and not bash Fox,its a little tiring.
I agree with you although I would also add Cult as a show out of the box for the CW. I dont think BB, EO and TCD sound like good shows at all and they shound a lot like CW shows. They should have picked up The Selection, based on The Hunger Games. This being said, I can understand that they cant all of the sudden get an entire new audience so they cant lose the one they do have. And they actually went on the medical drama direction and on the procedural direction, both of which have more than prove on other networks that can attract audiences. So, there is some rationale behind it, even if I also dont understand entirely their choices.
Emily Owens, Beauty and the Beast and Chicago Fire..But i must admit there are so many shows here i am not interested in so i haven't been following there posts or promos...So for all i know i am probably batting zero...
I have also stated plenty of times that exact same opinion regarding Fox and Fringe. I think they have learned with experiences such as Firefly, they have seen the post sucess of the show and probably realised that some shows need time to grow, others simply attract a dedicated type of audience that in the long run will stick with the network if they give them enough goodwill by respecting their show. And I actually did not bash on Fox. I said the opposite, that I think they will actually stick with their Tuesday comedy block even if ratings are not amazing.
Think that it's sad it's bad. I liked the idea of it, and love Robert Knepper, but clearly it's a good idea that is poorly done. I will still try the pilot but my expectations for the show are now very, very low. I certainly don't think it will do well at all.
CW targets mainly female audience as well as age group from 18 to around 34, which is perfectly reflected in the tv shows CW airs. Its the age group from which most of their shows get the ratings, as well as the age group to which most of their shows and their marketing, are targeted.
The Neighbors! While I am not optimistic about some of the new CW shows, they don't have a record of cancelling any new show after its first order of episodes, for instance, Ringer didn't perform well at all, but did get a chance to finish its season.
While i have not read your other posts concerning Fox and Fringe, that is the way i read it. It wasn't how you said things it was that little 'yeah,i know its Fox,still.' Many people have used those same words when trying to sound like they weren't knocking Fox,yet they were.
The shows I think will get cancelled are: Beauty and the Beast (because he ain't no beast), Emily Owens (because there is already Private Practice and Greys Anatomy) and 666, (because there's SPN and it's pretty hard to beat that show, from what I hear), although Terry O'Quinn is very welcome back on my screen :)
Go On sampled really well, it also repeated very well. Dont see why it shouldnt at least do well enough to last the season. I'm predicting a semi hit for NBC. Revolution should be OK to last the season, still think it'll go the way of The Event and Flashforward with a decent start and a quick nose dive. Last Resort could go either way, its in ABC's cursed pre-Greys slot, but its been received better than most thought it would.
you mean the new CW shows will b cancelled at the end of the season becuase the CW wont be cancelling them all early on thats for sure. I'm predicting Arrow-hit gets a second season Cult-tanks airs all filmed episodes doesnt come back for a 2nd season Carrie-tanks, airs all filmed episodes and does not return for season 2 Emily-modest ratings, next seasons Hart Of Dixie, gets a 2nd season Beauty-good start, will be next seasons TCS, 50/50 whether it gets a 2nd season or not
just for the record the CW are still trying to redevelope their Hunger Games/Bachelor rip-off, so it could be on air some time in 2013. And if the others are typical teen shows then what do you call The Selection?
I am pulling for Revolution, after all it has Eric Kripke involved and SPN is still going strong. I was hooked on the pilot for SPN will sure give this one a chance.
Ringer being good is a matter of opinion, there were plenty of people who watched it and thought it was bad. It wasnt overlooked because it aired on the CW so much as it didnt appeal to many people and/or viewers watched and didnt like it or think it was very good.
with all due respect, Nina Dobrev fails fabulously in her roles and its not that hard to differentiate Elena(who has no personality or defining character traits) from Katherine (who is Elena but with snark)
SMG is no newcomer at playing multiple characters and her Siobhan and Bridgette were separated by more subtle, with show emphasizing that the sisters could switch places at any time, slipping into each other's role if the situation arises for that.
Ringer's problem was simple and painful - long build up. The first 10 or more episodes were pretty much JUST build up without any real connections or sensible plot progression. Once all the chekov guns started going off, show became great, but by that time most of the viewers have already left the show.
Anyone voting for a CW show is out of their minds. The CW never cancels their shows first. The only time The CW pulled the trigger on a scripted show early was the horrid "The Beautiful Life."
I love Mindy Kaling and everything but after watching the Pilot on Hulu. I wasn't that impressed, maybe I was expecting too much, I don't know. I don't see it lasting more than 1 season though. I don't really know all that much about any of the others. I need to start researching.
The problem, in my opinion, with the medical shows, like for the cops shows, there's just so many of them on tv. If someone really love the style, they already have a tons of shows on their program to watch and catch on, unless their life is only around tv shows they need at some point to decide which ones they wanna watch, which ones they don't and I'm having a hard time seeing why someone would watch a medical CW shows instead of like Grey or whatever.
The comedy crop this year doesn't look too promising, so I voted for Neighbors, Family Tools and 1600 Penn. I'm assuming Malibu County, Friend Me and Emily Owens will also get canceled.
Our family lives in Chicago and we live nearby. I always root for shows set in Chicago, but the best so far is The Good Wife. No phony accents. That's what I like. I was hoping Chicago Fire would be another Rescue Me, but that show had the New York/September 11 theme going for it. Chicago Fire seems to have nothing but pretty people with, from what I've heard, bad accents.
If the Selection was going to be anything like the Vampire diaries, which is what i have assumed, then i wouldn't call it a teen show. It is a show in which characters are teens but certainly not a teen show like Gossp Girl, 90210, etc.
As everyone else has so honestly said, the CW seemingly never cancels it's shows so I am not even going to bother with those...
Although I am most excited for Revolution, I fear for it. It's on up against to shows that have a pretty decent following, it's on a network that has a bit of an identity crisis, let alone it's genre(s) tend to be for a certain kind of viewer. I am hoping that since it was heavily promoted, and that maybe NBC wants to try and stick with a sci-fi action adventure, and that it is starting in the fall that it has a much better opportunity than say Awake (also NBC) and Alcatraz (Fox) had.
I am interested in the Goodwin Files, but I can see it becoming old quickly. I can't really see Elementary sticking around either, since I think a lot of people like the BBC Sherlock series.
a couple of million at most watch the BBC version of Sherlock in the US, Elementary has zero competition on Thursday night at 10pm this fall, has a solid lead in in POI and has plenty of buzz. I can see it hitting around 13 million viewers an episode and gaining a solid demo ratings (I'd say mid to low 2's)
I'm shocked that Beauty and the Beast is winning this poll. Not because I don't think it will be cancel-worthy but because it is on the CW. The CW does not cancel anything right away. Even the reviled H8R had more episodes than it should and that was a disposable reality TV show. No way Beauty and the Beast gets pulled first.
Nothing on the CW is going to be the first to be canceled period. The CW is used to very poor ratings. They may cancel things at the end of the season but I would be shocked if anything were prematurely yanked.
Agreed. The CW is a netlet, not a network. If they have the episodes they air them. It's not like there is much of a ratings difference between a success and a bomb on the CW.
Exactly. This is basically what I said the first time I posted in this topic. Only once has the CW canceled a show early, with episodes still left on its order. It was the awful "The Beautiful Life" starring Misha Barton.
Animal Practice is one of the few shows I've already seen (thanks NBC for your Olympics previews) and one I never need to see again. I'm hoping NBC will compensate me for the time I wasted on that drivel.
I believe some of these people don't really get the point of this poll. They're voting for mid-season shows to get canceled first before the low-hanging fruit premiering this fall that are sure not to make it to mid-season.
What would the CW replace Emily Owens and Beauty and the Beast with if they go early? The CW does not have a backup plan that allows them to cancel shows prematurely, especially not quickly enough to be the first canceled.
You're right about the CW. However my predictions are a bit different.
Arrow - same, should be the biggest of the new shows Cult - same although I'm disappointed Carrie - has low middling ratings, remains a bubble show for the majority of the season, renewal depends on development slate Emily - has low to middling ratings, remains a bubble show for majority of the season, Hart of Dixie renewed instead of it Beauty - starts off as 3rd highest ratings for CW behind Arrow and VD, sees rapid decline in next 3-6 weeks before plateauing in midrange, remains a bubble show for most of the season, renewal depends on development slate
Originally I wanted Revolution to do well because of the Kripke factor. He knows how to tell a good story and there could be a slight benefit to Supernatural if it does well. However, now I lean towards a "the fate of sci fi in TV depends on how well Revolution does" doomsday attitude. NBC has done a great job promoting it. If it doesn't succeed, I'm not sure how many networks will take a chance on sci fi in the near future.
I was more concerned about the differences in style, then the time slots. I am was just saying BBC's seems like it's got a serious drama element to it, where It seems like Elementary will have a more romantic-comedy approach and considering the novels really were 'crime thrillers', I can see how the CBS version could put the more old world Sherlock fans off...
But -you make a GREAT point that POI and Thursday nights! It could do much better than I previously thought.
Emily Owens will live or die on whether people want to watch adults act like high school kids.I'm leaning towards no especially with those horrible voice overs.
Yeah, I mentioned the bad reviews as well. I disagree that it's a poor concept, I actually think it's brilliant, but I guess the execution is nowhere near as good. The critics are saying it's ridiculous and over the top. I think I'll give it a few episodes, because I do think the premise has heaps of potential and the cast is good, but I'll have to lower my expectations, like Julia. It's one thing to have a weak pilot ep, but one that makes critics define your show as the worst new show of the season... :/
Yeah, I meant post rather than pre-TVD, sorry. I'm confused about TSC - if it's such a teen show that it wasn't even aimed at viewers 18 and up (hence, the desired demo), why was the CW banking so much on it last season? It wouldn't matter if it had 5 million viewers each week if not enough of them were in the 18-49 demo. Someone suggested that TVD fans simply don't stick around to watch whatever comes on afterwards, but rather go online to discuss the show. That could be the reason the Thursday 9pm slot isn't working so far. I guess B&tB *is* more in line with TVD's demo, although they might want to introduce another dude after Kristin Kreuk's heart - that particular demo is all about love triangles and shipping wars.
I believe PBS Mystery is a co-producer for Sherlock so that is one reason it (and some other series) go to PBS first.
PBS has a long-standing history of co-producing BBC dramas and mysteries for its Masterpiece series and Mystery series so many shows from BBC. Maybe BBC realizes that PBS has a wider viewing audience than BBC America? Maybe now that BBC America is becoming more of a player and co-producing series with BBC that will change some time down the road....
The Beautiful Life was cancelled after two episodes in 2009. Other shows were canceled in The CW's first years (Runaway, Valentine, Easy Money...) I know a lot has changed for The CW since 2009, but I think that if one of the new shows premiering this fall does worse than a Nikita rerun (for istance) they would cancel it.
In the past few years they might have cancelled those shows but they even renewed Life UneXpected for a second season while the ratings were the lowest ever... A lot has changed since 2009, and since then they have not cancelled shows (with big names might I add) while still airing the first few episodes.
personaly think that beauty and the beast probably a gonner but like alot of people have said the CW dont cancel shows too early maybe they have patience never seen the beautiful life but i know at the time it got cancelled and the remaining episodes aired on youtube i think on another note 12 people think arrow will be cancelled early? really??? i think personaly my opinion really but personaly out of all the new cw shows arrow has the most potential to be a good show though i think CW are really looking for a show to fill the boots left by smallville
Why do some CW mockers continue to be in denial. The shows that you want so adly to be canned by CW simply wont, they will likely get a full season. Even be renewed. CW is not ABC, NBC or Fox, they simply don't cancel shows due to bad ratings, they cancel due to extremely low and terrible ratings.
Face the real reality here, even if you look down on those CW shows, they will still see more day than your precious shows on your better networks.
Why because they will be a little bit of drama and CWised. If anything people are probably tired of watching med and cop show on the big networks. For CW its something new that will be done differently
Actually, and I have also been very interested in that show since the beggining, I think the sucess of The Goodwin Games depends a lot on where it ends up. If it receives the random I Hate My Teenager Daughter scheduling treatment it may not be lucky. If it ends up on the Tuesday block it's a different story. We'll have to wait and see. But I would def not call it a safe bet for renewal at this point, too many variables!
..THE SUPPOSE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.BY FAR AND BY FACT ON THE TOP OF THE LIST BECAUSE THE SERIES SMELL,TASTE.FAILURE SINCE THE RELEASE OF ALL THE GARBAGE & STUPID PROMOS..THE CONCEPT SO WRONG SINCE THE BEGAN.IF CHARLIE ANGEL WAS A DISASTER THIS IS THE ARMAGEDDON
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI expect a lot of these to be cancelled so... let's pick... anything on NBC (sans Go On and Revolution).
ReplyDeleteAnd just what is the average audience for CW??
ReplyDeletefor me will be 13 to 25 years olds because cover all basic audience..( PRE-TEEN.,TEEN AND ADULT) I think so
ReplyDeleteI voted for the exact same 3
ReplyDeleteStill calling The Neighbors as the first cancellation of the season. And I don't think Animal Practice is going to last very long either.

My guess is even if Carrie bombs it'll still air out all the episodes since they would have already been filmed.
ReplyDeleteI think the CW's average audience age is somewhere in the mid 30's, it skews the youngest of the 5 nets.

ReplyDeleteEmily Owens, Beauty and the Beast and Chicago Fire..But i must admit there are so many shows here i am not interested in so i haven't been following there posts or promos...So for all i know i am probably batting zero...
ReplyDeleteI have also stated plenty of times that exact same opinion regarding Fox and Fringe.
ReplyDeleteThink that it's sad it's bad. I liked the idea of it, and love Robert Knepper, but clearly it's a good idea that is poorly done. I will still try the pilot but my expectations for the show are now very, very low. I certainly don't think it will do well at all.
ReplyDeleteCW targets mainly female audience as well as age group from 18 to around 34, which is perfectly reflected in the tv shows CW airs. Its the age group from which most of their shows get the ratings, as well as the age group to which most of their shows and their marketing, are targeted.
ReplyDeleteThe Neighbors! While I am not optimistic about some of the new CW shows, they don't have a record of cancelling any new show after its first order of episodes, for instance, Ringer didn't perform well at all, but did get a chance to finish its season.
ReplyDeleteI'm HOPING Chicago Fire does well.
ReplyDeleteWhile i have not read your other posts concerning Fox and Fringe, that is the way i read it. It wasn't how you said things it was that little 'yeah,i know its Fox,still.' Many people have used those same words when trying to sound like they weren't knocking Fox,yet they were.
ReplyDeleteAll the new ones on the cw will be cancelled. I could oonly vote for 3 though. I hope partners sticks around a while it looks cute.
ReplyDeleteThe shows I think will get cancelled are: Beauty and the Beast (because he ain't no beast), Emily Owens (because there is already Private Practice and Greys Anatomy) and 666, (because there's SPN and it's pretty hard to beat that show, from what I hear), although Terry O'Quinn is very welcome back on my screen :)
ReplyDeleteGo On, formulaic Matthew Perry fare, should be gone by January. Revolution and Last Resort, both too good to last.
ReplyDeleteGo On sampled really well, it also repeated very well. Dont see why it shouldnt at least do well enough to last the season. I'm predicting a semi hit for NBC.
ReplyDeleteRevolution should be OK to last the season, still think it'll go the way of The Event and Flashforward with a decent start and a quick nose dive.
Last Resort could go either way, its in ABC's cursed pre-Greys slot, but its been received better than most thought it would.
you really think CW will cancel 2 new shows early in the season? Thats a bold prediction.
ReplyDeleteyou mean the new CW shows will b cancelled at the end of the season becuase the CW wont be cancelling them all early on thats for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm predicting
Arrow-hit gets a second season
Cult-tanks airs all filmed episodes doesnt come back for a 2nd season
Carrie-tanks, airs all filmed episodes and does not return for season 2
Emily-modest ratings, next seasons Hart Of Dixie, gets a 2nd season
Beauty-good start, will be next seasons TCS, 50/50 whether it gets a 2nd season or not
One problem is seniors like me don't even get counted in the ratings. Guess advertisers don't think we spend money.
ReplyDeleteI tried to like Ringer, but the acting was lame, SMG could have taken lessons on playing 2 characters from Nina Dobrev. IMO
at last someone who is being realistic about the CW's shows
ReplyDeletejust for the record the CW are still trying to redevelope their Hunger Games/Bachelor rip-off, so it could be on air some time in 2013. And if the others are typical teen shows then what do you call The Selection?
ReplyDeletemaybe it should be changed to which show will be cancelled the quickest? (in terms of how many episodes are aired before its yanked)
ReplyDeleteI am pulling for Revolution, after all it has Eric Kripke involved and SPN is still going strong. I was hooked on the pilot for SPN will sure give this one a chance.
ReplyDeleteRinger being good is a matter of opinion, there were plenty of people who watched it and thought it was bad. It wasnt overlooked because it aired on the CW so much as it didnt appeal to many people and/or viewers watched and didnt like it or think it was very good.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Beauty and the Beast. If the promo is anything to judge, it's crap. It was too twilightish...
ReplyDeleteRevolution will be okay as long as the rest of the team does not let Kripke to run around with sexism and directionless story-writing.
ReplyDeleteKripke can create great stuff, but he needs to be tightly controlled.
with all due respect, Nina Dobrev fails fabulously in her roles and its not that hard to differentiate Elena(who has no personality or defining character traits) from Katherine (who is Elena but with snark)
ReplyDeleteSMG is no newcomer at playing multiple characters and her Siobhan and Bridgette were separated by more subtle, with show emphasizing that the sisters could switch places at any time, slipping into each other's role if the situation arises for that.
Ringer's problem was simple and painful - long build up. The first 10 or more episodes were pretty much JUST build up without any real connections or sensible plot progression. Once all the chekov guns started going off, show became great, but by that time most of the viewers have already left the show.
ReplyDeleteNeighbors, The Mob Doctor, Revolution.
ReplyDeleteAnyone voting for a CW show is out of their minds. The CW never cancels their shows first. The only time The CW pulled the trigger on a scripted show early was the horrid "The Beautiful Life."
Cult is a midseason show which makes it a real long shot to get canceled before most of these other shows.
ReplyDeleteI love Mindy Kaling and everything but after watching the Pilot on Hulu. I wasn't that impressed, maybe I was expecting too much, I don't know. I don't see it lasting more than 1 season though. I don't really know all that much about any of the others. I need to start researching.
ReplyDeleteThe problem, in my opinion, with the medical shows, like for the cops shows, there's just so many of them on tv.
ReplyDeleteThe comedy crop this year doesn't look too promising, so I voted for Neighbors, Family Tools and 1600 Penn. I'm assuming Malibu County, Friend Me and Emily Owens will also get canceled.
ReplyDeleteThat's not even true, especially about adult shows.. There are much older audiences that watch tv than the teenage crowd
ReplyDeleteOur family lives in Chicago and we live nearby.
ReplyDeletei totally agree with this. But I was just trying to understand the reasoning for their picks
ReplyDeleteIf the Selection was going to be anything like the Vampire diaries, which is what i have assumed, then i wouldn't call it a teen show. It is a show in which characters are teens but certainly not a teen show like Gossp Girl, 90210, etc.
ReplyDeletedarling remember the teen choice award they are (TEEN) voting for SUPPOSE shows follow by them but we the ADULTS follows too.
ReplyDeleteNeighbors, Family Tools and Guys with Kids
ReplyDeleteI think even if the CW shows tank completely CW will keep them going as its such a low rated network
As everyone else has so honestly said, the CW seemingly never cancels it's shows so I am not even going to bother with those...
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am most excited for Revolution, I fear for it.
Guys with Kids and The Neighbors will be the first to go.
ReplyDeleteBeauty and The Best, Guys With Kids and Emily Owens
ReplyDeletea couple of million at most watch the BBC version of Sherlock in the US, Elementary has zero competition on Thursday night at 10pm this fall, has a solid lead in in POI and has plenty of buzz. I can see it hitting around 13 million viewers an episode and gaining a solid demo ratings (I'd say mid to low 2's)
ReplyDeleteI'm in the US and have to watch Sherlock on PBS, for some reason it is not on BBC in the Houston market.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked that Beauty and the Beast is winning this poll. Not because I don't think it will be cancel-worthy but because it is on the CW. The CW does not cancel anything right away. Even the reviled H8R had more episodes than it should and that was a disposable reality TV show. No way Beauty and the Beast gets pulled first.
ReplyDeleteNothing on the CW is going to be the first to be canceled period. The CW is used to very poor ratings. They may cancel things at the end of the season but I would be shocked if anything were prematurely yanked.
ReplyDeleteNeighbors is my top pick. Unless it becomes a hit with kids I can't see it doing anything for the network.
ReplyDeleteLate 20's and early 30's I believe.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The CW is a netlet, not a network. If they have the episodes they air them. It's not like there is much of a ratings difference between a success and a bomb on the CW.
ReplyDeleteExactly. This is basically what I said the first time I posted in this topic. Only once has the CW canceled a show early, with episodes still left on its order. It was the awful "The Beautiful Life" starring Misha Barton.
ReplyDeleteAnimal Practice is one of the few shows I've already seen (thanks NBC for your Olympics previews) and one I never need to see again. I'm hoping NBC will compensate me for the time I wasted on that drivel.
ReplyDeleteI believe some of these people don't really get the point of this poll. They're voting for mid-season shows to get canceled first before the low-hanging fruit premiering this fall that are sure not to make it to mid-season.
ReplyDeleteVoice of reason. The CW simply does not cancel dramas, even if they are poorly rated. I also think Neighbors will be the first to go.
ReplyDeleteWhat would the CW replace Emily Owens and Beauty and the Beast with if they go early? The CW does not have a backup plan that allows them to cancel shows prematurely, especially not quickly enough to be the first canceled.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the CW. However my predictions are a bit different.
ReplyDeleteArrow - same, should be the biggest of the new shows
Cult - same although I'm disappointed
Carrie - has low middling ratings, remains a bubble show for the majority of the season, renewal depends on development slate
Emily - has low to middling ratings, remains a bubble show for majority of the season, Hart of Dixie renewed instead of it
Beauty - starts off as 3rd highest ratings for CW behind Arrow and VD, sees rapid decline in next 3-6 weeks before plateauing in midrange, remains a bubble show for most of the season, renewal depends on development slate
ReplyDeleteI think those are the first three sitcoms to be cancelled with maybe Animal Practice fighting for the "honor" as well.
ReplyDeleteDrama wise I think Chicago Fire, Emily Owens, Made in Jersey, Mob Doctor, and Zero Hour will be in the race for first cancelled drama.
My gut says Guys with Kids is first followed by Neighbors and Mob Doctor.
This was far tougher than it should be!
ReplyDeleteToo many bad and mediocre sounding series in the mix makes it tough to chose which is the worst of the bad....
What do you call Grimm and Once Upon a Time if not sci-fi?
ReplyDeleteThe Neighbours, Beauty and the Beast and Made in Jersey
ReplyDeleteI was more concerned about the differences in style, then the time slots. I am was just saying BBC's seems like it's got a serious drama element to it, where It seems like Elementary will have a more romantic-comedy approach and considering the novels really were 'crime thrillers', I can see how the CBS version could put the more old world Sherlock fans off...
ReplyDeleteBut -you make a GREAT point that POI and Thursday nights! It could do much better than I previously thought.
Fantasy.
ReplyDeleteEmily Owens will live or die on whether people want to watch adults act like high school kids.I'm leaning towards no especially with those horrible voice overs.
ReplyDeleteNot interested in anyone of them, except The Goodwin Games, but I don't see that getting cancelled.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I mentioned the bad reviews as well. :/
ReplyDeleteYeah, I meant post rather than pre-TVD, sorry.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused about TSC - if it's such a teen show that it wasn't even aimed at viewers 18 and up (hence, the desired demo), why was the CW banking so much on it last season? It wouldn't matter if it had 5 million viewers each week if not enough of them were in the 18-49 demo.
Someone suggested that TVD fans simply don't stick around to watch whatever comes on afterwards, but rather go online to discuss the show. That could be the reason the Thursday 9pm slot isn't working so far. I guess B&tB *is* more in line with TVD's demo, although they might want to introduce another dude after Kristin Kreuk's heart - that particular demo is all about love triangles and shipping wars.
I'm in New York and i also watch it on PBS not BBC America,i always thought it was just something in the NY area.....guess not!
ReplyDeleteWonder if other parts of the country are like us, I would much prefer it on BBC, not a fan of PBS.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with both comments. I think some people dont get the point of the poll which is why it is also shocking for me that BB is winning this!
ReplyDeleteMinnesota here and Sherlock is on PBS also.
ReplyDeleteI believe PBS Mystery is a co-producer for Sherlock so that is one reason it (and some other series) go to PBS first.
Other shows were canceled in The CW's first years (Runaway, Valentine, Easy Money...)
ReplyDeleteI know a lot has changed for The CW since 2009, but I think that if one of the new shows premiering this fall does worse than a Nikita rerun (for istance) they would cancel it.
I guess I forget not everyone has satellite TV and PBS is local.
ReplyDeleteIn the past few years they might have cancelled those shows but they even renewed Life UneXpected for a second season while the ratings were the lowest ever... A lot has changed since 2009, and since then they have not cancelled shows (with big names might I add) while still airing the first few episodes.
ReplyDeletepersonaly think that beauty and the beast probably a gonner but like alot of people have said the CW dont cancel shows too early maybe they have patience
ReplyDeletenever seen the beautiful life but i know at the time it got cancelled and the remaining episodes aired on youtube i think
on another note 12 people think arrow will be cancelled early? really??? i think personaly my opinion really but personaly out of all the new cw shows arrow has the most potential to be a good show though i think CW are really looking for a show to fill the boots left by smallville
ReplyDeleteFace the real reality here, even if you look down on those CW shows, they will still see more day than your precious shows on your better networks.
Selecton was no hunger games, more like reality show crap -Bachelor or something
ReplyDeleteWhy because they will be a little bit of drama and CWised. If anything people are probably tired of watching med and cop show on the big networks. For CW its something new that will be done differently
ReplyDeleteThe Neighbors.
ReplyDeleteI don't get why Beauty and the Beast is the most voted one here. The CW doesn't really cancel things all that quickly, unless it is a reality show.
I am pretty sure it was not going to be a reality show
ReplyDeleteActually, and I have also been very interested in that show since the beggining, I think the sucess of The Goodwin Games depends a lot on where it ends up. If it receives the random I Hate My Teenager Daughter scheduling treatment it may not be lucky. If it ends up on the Tuesday block it's a different story. We'll have to wait and see. But I would def not call it a safe bet for renewal at this point, too many variables!
ReplyDeleteThe three im most looking forward 2 r at the bottom. Lets hope they got renewed.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm the only one, but I don't think Emily Owens is going to fair all to well.
ReplyDeleteThe Mob Doctor, Guy with Kids or Partners
ReplyDelete..THE SUPPOSE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.BY FAR AND BY FACT ON THE TOP OF THE LIST BECAUSE THE SERIES SMELL,TASTE.FAILURE SINCE THE RELEASE OF ALL THE GARBAGE & STUPID PROMOS..THE CONCEPT SO WRONG SINCE THE BEGAN.IF CHARLIE ANGEL WAS A DISASTER THIS IS THE ARMAGEDDON
ReplyDelete
