Loved it! SO glad that Hank is finally in the know and Nick will have yet another much needed ally. I'm sure that it will take a bit for Hank to get used to things even though he seemed to be ok with it as he knows that he's not crazy. It'll be fun to see how Hank will take to Monroe/Rosalie, if he can remember that he woke up naked to those 2 in Adalind's bedroom when she drugged him last season... lol Really enjoyed this ep and that they didn't drag out Hank's finding out.
I was surprised, but quite happily at how fast the reveal was too! I'm glad Hank knows and very thankful they brought him into the mix early in this season.
I don't mind Juliette not recalling Nick personally. It's only been a few episodes since she even went into her coma and only 2 since she came out of her coma. If it drags on for 5 or 6 more episodes I may start to get annoyed too though.
I like that there was more to Adalind's plan than just try to kill Juliette or to make her forget everything. It is a very specific and narrow desired effect and that intrigues me I guess.
Also maybe Juliette not remembering Nick does not bother me as much because I really never got into the Juliette character very much? It always felt to me like there needed to be more to her role than the supportive girlfriend (most of the time). This targeted amnesia really pulls her into the Wssen narrative of the series and I like that more than the kept-in-the-dark-girlfriend.
Man, it was frustrating to watch live! I kept hitting the fast forward button. AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. ;-D
I was really worried that the promo would prove to be a great big ole tease and Hank would NOT find out about Nick. So glad he knows. They'll be an unstoppable team.
Awesome episode. I found myself wondering if they knew this was going to be a 10 pm episode. That "bath" scene was so disturbing....and I just thought...not an 8 pm episode. An excellent thing in my book...they set up some real bad guys and didn't back off of it.
Loved that the chief bad guy was too dumb to spot the Grimm. His minons/sons spotted him pretty quickly. lol. I've seen the actress that played Carly before just can't place where yet.
I am doing the Dance of Joy...Hank knows. Weeee.
Regarding Juliette. I'm a little confused (and in such a way that I'm wondering if it is a continuity issue) Rosalie made the potion to stop her memory loss and they got it to her before it was completely devoid of potency. What I'm trying to figure out is if the poison was created to remove Nick from Juliette's memory as opposed to removing whole memories then was the potion any use at all? We saw Nick was gone from the dinner scene before Rosalie started to make the potion, but she remembered the dinner. Rosalie said the potion she made was to stop the memory loss. I can't tell if it was too late for the potion to have any affect or if logic here is a little shaky, or maybe I just missed something. What do you guys think?
The lack of connection to Juliette, for me as an audience member, didn't bother me when the show started because initially I connected with Hank and Monroe. It took weeks for me to warm up to Nick, and a huge part of that was the writers giving the character more weight and depth as the show went on. Maybe the problem is that by keeping her on the outside of Nick's secret they've managed to reinforce a distance between the audience and the character as well.
Yeah, her not being involved in much of anything makes her still pretty much a stranger. We really haven't seen too much of her and any character depth for her. There's no plot to really get into her head, what she's thinking.
- I LOVE Hank's reaction to the truth. Now I do NOT expect that it will be all calm and nice and most likely Hank will be all maverick-y to Nick's "stable cop" now in terms of supernatural world, but its nice to see such an...unexpected and non-cliche reaction from him. Thank you, show.
- Juliette and Nick's storyline breaks my heart. Now I am pretty sure they will have to "rediscover" their love and that their first kiss will bring her memories back or something, possibly in the midst of plot involving Adalind.
- Possibly favorite scene of the episode - Renard's and Nick's cat and mouse game about Adalind's mother's death - both of them carefully picking what to say and what to reveal as known.
I think part of it with me is also the overwhelming cliche plots centered on most "superheroes" lovers and spouses. They're in the dark to our heroes secret identity...they're the weak link targeted by baddies to get at the hero... they know the secret , cannot deal with it and leave... or they finally find out our heroes secret only to be killed.
I almost prefer them so outside they are more only mentioned than actually seen sometimes....
i do like how they gave her this tough, don't eff with me edge to her personality, before she fell into her coma if course, which makes sense considering nick's character.
As far as Juliette goes I always secretly hoped that she was not human and because Nick loved her he was not able to pick up on her non human persona. Or maybe she would have been some type of other worldly entity that was always hidden from Grimms. She is a Vet so they could have figured her love and nurturing for animals nicely in the transition. As a human she will ALWAYS be in danger and what that means in once a month Nick will have to save her(which is boring and predictable) What do you think about this suggestion?
Excellent observation. I was a little disturbed also that Nick administered the antidote by means of EYE DROPS, for crying out loud. And also, because Nick was late getting to her, weren't Monroe and Rosalee about to do it in his stead? So how important was it that Nick be the one to deliver the potion? The only way the writers can back out of this is if we find that Adalind had designed the poison to wipe Nick permanently from Juliette's memory, yet Juliette's memory slowly begins to return because of those eye drops.
Loved this episode. Loved the reveal to Hank, how it was done and how he accepted it. Now Nick has someone else in his Scooby gang besides Monroe and Rosalee. I wonder why Hank can see the beast in people. I get it that beasts can reveal themselves on purpose if they choose, but Hank is able to see even fleeting features. Sometimes. What did Catherine's potion do to Renard? It made him go all monstrous at first and then he kissed Juliette, but in this episode he's back to normal. I wonder if the potion will make the beast part of him be visible to Nick. Both Nick and Renard want to find Adalind. And they both want Juliette to be all better. Renard wants Nick to be happy and to stay. Where's Mama? What's she doing with those coins?
I am guessing that once someone purposefully(or by loosing control) shows it, the human mind becomes "aware" and can recognize even the smaller "slips" that grimms naturally pick upon.
this episode to describe it all word are short but actor pelegrino animal chosen computer face INCREDIBLE his natural feature are very similar to a coyote and experts said that the coyote are very protecting of there children & when they shows emotion are very kindness and playful way
The CGI faces are so much better this year. It is really helping. If it weren't for the Buffy knock-off opening, I'd be really quite impressed with the changes this season.
I hope bringing Hank into the fold will be a good move.
Amazing episode. I'm so glad Hank's finally in the loop, as Nick really could use another ally that knows what's really going on. I think the two of them, hopefully along with Monroe, are going to make an amazing team. It was also refreshing to see Mark Pellegrino as something other than evil - though Lucifer will always have a special place in my heart ;)
I loved Hank finding out about everything last night. I hadn't thought I cared one way or the other, but I just loved Hank's reaction. I can't wait to see Nick, Monroe and Hank team up for a Wessen hunt! They're going to kick some furry butt working together.
Another really good episode! I was thinking this was the last one before they switch back to Fridays but we get 2 more episodes first!
I think that Juliette is suppose to be "in love" with Captain Renard now after he drank that potion. Once she sees him in person, she will love him instead of Nick. It will be up to Nick to "win" her back as part of the story line. Maybe this is the way that Renard is going to control Nick somehow as the Grimm?
I'm not sure if Grimm will stay with the late time slot once it moves to Friday but this episode had a lot of disturbing scenes in it with the young girl, and then the dead animals in the apartment. It definitely is not a show for kids!
RE: Juliette in love with Captain Renard....from the Hexenbeast POV it makes perfect sense to pull this one over on Captain Renard. But from his point of view that's got to be a massive unwanted kettle of fish. We've seen enough to, I think, know what what Renard wants is for Nick to be this generation of Grimm working for the royal family. (as opposed to the original plan of killing him.) My initial thought was that this would out Renard, but then I realized that the only person with enough info and detached enough to figure it all out is Nick's mom.
Hmmm. I'm not a fan of that idea off the bat but the more I think the more...I'm willing to see what happens.
Great episode,so glad Hank now knows, and i love the way it was done..
Oh poor Juiette..or should i say Nick, he looked dejected when around her.I wonder why she cannot remember him,was the potion designed that way because Nick was late giving it to her, maybe it was just designed that way period...
Another episode that shows we are in for an amazing season! I really liked Hank finding out. I thought I wouldn't care much one way or the other, but it was very organic, and it had enough build up for it to be very good. I would only say that they could have let him bottom even fruther in his crazy spiral before this, but no biggie. I think Juliette loosing her memory is quite cliched, but I have to say I enjoyed the storyline. I really like Nick as a character, he is a very very good guy, so it was heartbreaking to see her not remembering him, despite his efforts. I also agree with other commenters that she will likely be in love with the captain now, let's see.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I AM so happy that finally nicks tell hank the truth he will need a lot of time swallowing all that info but everything will be .//.O.K.//...I HOPE

ReplyDeleteExcellent episode. So glad Hank knows the truth now.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Hank knows! But boo, to the not remembering Nick part, that's going to real old, real fast for me.
ReplyDeleteAnother great episode... this season has started off very strong!
